Denver seems to be a city that doesn't easily let go. Welcome home Woody. Enjoy the view.

That is funny, I added Woody as a myspace friend last week and told him to come back to the post because it sucks since he and Schefter left. Behold the power of myspace.

Woody walked by me at the HOF in the stands on way to press box. 5 other fans alonge his route stopped him. I had nothing of note to say so I let him go by with a nod.

Always liked Paige when I lived in CO. The other guy I always liked is Jim Armstrong. Always has funny notes.

It's classic; you wouldn't even recognize him. He had red wavy hair with big Coke bottle glasses.
I have some Paige TV commercials in my TV broadcasts, and I shake my head as I can't recognize him.

Woody Paige returning to Denver Post
<!--subtitle--><!--byline-->By The Denver Post
<!--date-->Article Last Updated:11/03/2006 12:53:20 AM MST
Woody Paige has seen it all in the world of sports, from John Elway throwing touchdowns in the Super Bowl to Jack Nicklaus draining putts to win at Augusta. For the past two years, however, he hasn't had a forum to write about it.
Now he does.
The wit, wisdom and wackiness of Woody will be returning to the pages of The Denver Post.
"Two of my truest loves in life are Colorado and The Denver Post, and I am thrilled to be coming home to both," Paige said Thursday from New York, where he had just finished taping the popular "Around the Horn" show for ESPN. "I am very much looking forward to resuming my love/hate relationship with the (Denver) teams. I am humbled by this and can't wait to start working for The Post again and being a part of an award-winning sports section and exceptional daily newspaper."
Paige left The Post in the fall of 2004 to work full-time for ESPN and became a smash hit as a regular on the morning "Cold Pizza" show and the afternoon "Around the Horn" shoutfest among sportswriters.
He will write four columns a week for The Post starting Dec. 1 while continuing to work for ESPN as a panelist on "Around the Horn," which will be filmed in the ESPN studio at The Post. He will no longer do "Cold Pizza."
"Woody was perhaps our best- known personality when he left," Post editor Gregory L. Moore said. "And he is even bigger now because of ESPN. He promises he has not lost his touch as a writer. We're excited to have him gracing our sports pages again."
Paige will replace Thomas George, who resigned in August to become a managing editor at the NFL Network.

good to hear.
woody and his 19-0 predictions. classic stuff.
this town could use a sports writer (or radio talk show host) with some comedic value and some positive spins on the local sports teams instead of the usual doom and gloom crap thats disguised as being "objective" instead of being a "homer".
whoever started the whole "homer" thing should be tortured. not just killed, but tortured.

He can do his around the Horn. I didn't appreciate him at times, but he's become a true celebrity, and I'm thrilled to tears to hear he's coming back to enjoy the QB fray.
Once I realized he was more of a comedian that actual analyist, I accepted him. And good Lord, there is a black hole for some editorials that are at least funny deeper and darker than Paris Hilton.
I might actually go to their site again. I don't think I have been there for months.
I'm sure I will be cursing him again, but in a new light. I also think he's become more well rounded with his experience on TV, especially around the horn, where he actually had to defend his opinions. I just can't figure out who gave that idiot moderator the keys to the store. It is a kangaroo court but I like the show.
Just to refresh memory lane...Jay Mariotti used to write in Denver as well. They should bring in Stinky for first and 10.
Stinky wrote a song, (supposedly) about Mike Green's attempt to "Man UP" like Golic and Stink. It was set to "Oh Genie" Only "Oh Greenie". Funny as hell.
Welcome back Wood Pecker, I can't wait to curse you.

you just have to accept the guy as more of a comedian than a serious sportswriter, and then he's fun to read.

Woody's back in Denver that's cool. He is a funny, I've enjoyed the humor and his honesty expect for one time.
Does anyone remember the column he wrote prior to the 96 playoff game with Jacksonville?
He slaughtered the Jags, calling them "Jagwads", saying they didn't have a prayer in the game, saying the Broncos would roll in the Playoffs on and on he ranted about how the Jagwads didn't belong in the playoff etc. etc.
I always felt that rant was one of the big reasons that the Jags were so motivated to beat the Broncos. Every player on the team most of posted that column in their locker and said "We'll show that S.O.B.!"
I swear after that loss I almost wanted to drive to Denver walk into his office and kick his ass sideways.
Thanks Woody the bad karma you scribbled that day may have cost the Broncos a chance to be 3 time Super Bowl Champions.

Brunell had a freak play in that game late where there were at least a dozen missed tackles on ONE play.
There were players that mised TWO tackles on that play...two players who shall remain nameless.
We have the recievers blanketed, then let a then Brunell rumble for 60 yards.
I was simply devestated, angry and so pissed off. Oh God...that one play is the all time piss me off play of all time. I just black out regarding the second quarter of the Washington Super Bowl.
I simply don't remember those plays. For my own sanity, those do not exist.
I only remember Tony Lilly. I'm not sure that's even the same SB. I think it was. He was pathetic in that game and gone the next year. Again....
Someone can refresh me on Ms. Lilly #1's classic game.

He's funny, the lost wasn't. For me that loss was the worst one in Broncos history. It just drained all the blood out of my head Man. The first person I wanted to kill was Woody.
The second worst loss was the Broncos loss to the Redskins in Super Bowl XVII.

Funny you wrote about the Redskins loss right before I posted this last one.
As for the Jags game, tackling and covering were the worst ever in that game with the Redskins being the other. Lilly has to go down as the worst defender that ever put on the orange and blue.

I'm amused you said "the worst" when we have had some doozies.
Regardless, it was one bone you couldn't digest. Lilly made plenty of highlights.

Here's one, remember when the Broncos led by Craig Morton had to beat the lowly Bears in Chicago to clinch a wildcard berth during the last game of the season? Morton just tanked, he threw the ball to the Bears every time he threw a pass. I personally loved Morton because he was such a Warrior but after that game it was time for him to hang 'em up.
The loss last year in the AFC Championship Game still burns in my gut too.

I knew I sensed some problems on that set.. That female and that weird dude seemed to always agree with Skippy and get down way to much on Woody if you ask me...
Funny thing is that Woody was the only thing interesting about that show.. Hopefully they cancel it now and give the boot to Skippy and friends.

It was pretty emotional on 1st and 10. I never in my wildest dreams thought I would rejoice at his return. He seems a wiser man now. I kinda misunderstood him before I think. 4 pages a week? That's more than Bugger Bill managed in a month. Christ...Mort has his finger on the team pulse better than that slacker and he has to cover the whole NFL.
Welcome back Woodrow! Good changes all around this week!
Hell, even Skip had a tear in his eye. Wookie cracked when he mentioned his terminally ill sister. "We will meet again"
