Yeah, I know...it's still two weeks away. But, if you are going to dress up for halloween, nows the time to start thinking about what you want to be! I always wait until the last minute and then I'm left with crap to pick through!

This is the one day of the year you can wear whatever you want, get totally hammered and whatever happens you can chalk it up to a holiday!

What are you going to be this year? What's the best costume you've ever come up with?

Old Dude

Pre-school: Ghost.

Kindergarten: Godzilla suit with a Frankenstein mask. Don't ask me why, but it worked.

1st Grade: Popeye. Big disappointment. No one was fooled.

2nd grade: Pirate. Blah.

3rd Grade: Home-made werewolf mask (out of bleach bottle). Blah.

4th grade: Giant Bombadier Beetle. Wings didn't work as well as I planned when I jumped off the carport roof.

5th grade: Mummy. (more trouble than it was worth)

6th Grade: Grim Reaper (won the school championship)

Adult parties & such:

Lich. (really got into this one and kept the costume on for three days)

Devil. (not as much fun as the Lich)

Dracula (blah)

Jungle Jim (blah)

Al Capone (blah)

Heckle & Jeckle (with wife - - can't remember which one I was)

Chinese Mandarin. (see Lich, above)

This year: Everyone wants to us throw another big Murder Mystery Party. I'm having a hard time getting psyched up for it. I just want to find some antlers and take out my chihuahua to pretend that we're on a Celtic "wild hunt."

I also wanted to get some ideas of what to do this year.

Last year I was a 50's CanCan Girl. This year, not quite sure, yet, what I want to do. I've got some thoughts, but I don't want to wait until the last minute.

One time when I was a kid I decided to be a bat! I made big huge long wings out of cardboard boxes and somehow stuck them to my back. I didn't think about how difficult it would be to go through doorways with those things on.

I'll post pictures after Halloween. This is probably my favorite "Holiday" for the reasons that STG listed. A few years back we inadvertently had a mullet themed Halloween party. We had people as Hockey Mullet, inbred Mullet, baseball mullet, porn star mullet, Femullett and a handful of others that I'm forgetting. It was good times.

A couple of adult Halloween costume guidelines I try to adhere to
1. No masks. To hard to drink with those on. This rule should be strictly followed if you are single.
2. No extensive make up (For guys especially) You forget that crap is on an get it all over everything.
3. Never, ever be a mime. Ever.
4. As few unattached accessories as possible. You'll either lose them or they'll get in your way.

Ohhhh, yeah. A few years back I went to a halloween party themed as Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (prior to the new version coming out on film). It was great. They had an outdoor speaker system and every half hour they would do the oompa loompa dance for all the kids out trick-or-treating! Several people dressed as oompa loompa's and one person dressed as Wonka...others dressed as the various kids in the movie! It was a blast!

Ohhhh....here's some creative ideas I pulled off of the web.....

Deviled Egg:

Dress in all white and paint or attach a yellow circle to your stomach. Then wear devil horns and carry a pitchfork.

Gold Digger:

Put on a gold dress. Sprinkle gold glitter in your lip gloss. Paint your nails gold. Paint a toy shovel gold, and carry it with a bag of gold rocks.

White Trash

Take a kitchen-sized white plastic trashcan. Cut it so you can wear it around your torso, and then fill it with white or clear garbage hanging out around the top. Tie the lid to your head as a hat. Wear white clothes underneath. Or for an easier version: use a white plastic trash bag--cut holes for your arms and legs and climb into it. Attach some pieces of trash around the top.

I think the Halloween getup I had the most fun with happened on a gig in the late 80s. (Those days when it was all about big guitars, big hair, etc.) Anyway, I had the obligatory Bon Jovi 'do working, and my costume was a Catholic priest's robe accessorized w/ snakeskin boots and Ray-Bans. I was playin' "father confessor" all night long to the young ladies backstage after the gig. :wiggle:

It's amazing how many people think Halloween is about candy.

At 17 it was about drinking on a school night. Now, at 36 and two little kids, its about getting them candy so mom and i can eat theirs and then scare kids at my house. Around 9PM, it is about drinking beer on a work night. It all comes back. I dress up to scare kids. My 2 1/2 year old is afraid of those dancing 1 1/2 foot skeletons. I think ill bring those out at least once when he is in my presence. Nobody, and i mean nobody, gets by with just a handout candy.

Mainly, I will be freezing my butt off playing street monitor for a pack of kids.

Oh boy, sounds like fun! It'll be 75-80* here with some outside parties so that might be where I go since my last one is hitting the Country Club with her friends for the parties and trick or treating.

We're expecting a balmy 25 degrees. Probably with wind.

One of us always stays home while the other takes out the kids. The home duty is pretty busy, too. Last two years we got hit by more than 200 trick-or-treaters.

I enjoy scaring the pee out of little kids on Halloween. I got big Reeses and mini Snickers...I will make them grovel to boot.

"Let's go for a ride...Why don't you all come in? Want to see the ClownHouse?"

Oh hell, I just hand out candy...I scared the piss out of some kids, this is such a safe neighborhood kids still go out unattended...I caught hell for scaring them. I did see a noticable drop in kids at the door after I terrified them one year...

more candy for me.

which one of you folks are the jerks that have their lights out and dont give candy!!!

;D

Halloween is a fun time, be safe everyone!

Actually...me! (and I work with kids...) But, I live in a townhouse that has the garages in front of it and everytime I go out and get candy (for the last two years) no one has shownup...hmmm dang...and as I speak my doorbell is ringing...maybe I need to go out and get some candy! LOL! I usually ended up either eating it all myself or bringing it to work.

What happens here is that, when we buy candy to give out, no kids........when we don't buy candy, every kid in the neighborhood stops by. Go figure!

I walked half a block away an shot off 3 shots of the Model 12 and hid.

Saved my candy.

Those days of being able to rampage are gone. Very few even in this quiet neighborhood trick or treat. There are events for the kiddies. They get more candy than they need without going on ritalin.

It's simply not really done anymore, even with a posse of women.

It's killed like so many other things that were so much fun.

He hates hats. Since momma dressed him up in the cutesy kitty outfit today, he's wearing the Superman outfit tomorrow. I'll post more pictures then. :)
