Despite the Broncos losing by a hair, there are a plethora of things to look forward to. 1 is that Mike Bell has solidified all the reasons why he should be the #1 RB for this offense. Bex of his performance on Sunday, he should be the #1. It is irrelevant that he did run against the worse run defense in the league; you put up a better showing than TB in the same game, you deserve the starting job. Without Mike, the running game is a dance show in the backfield with TB. Mike runs down hill, hard and fast, just like former Denver Broncos RB’s, Mike Anderson, Hollywood, and of course Terrell Davis. They didn’t sidestep and cutback as much as Tatum does. Mike is your Denver Broncos Running back.
Which leads me to my next point, the Denver Offense, they were clicking and they got 31 points. That’s great for a team that only averages 17. We’ll need that same performance against the “Stillerrs” this coming Sunday, and against the poor excuse for a football organization, that is the Oakland R-r-r-aidaz. Jake showed flashes of brilliance, and he only messed up once by fumbling deep in Broncos’ territory.
Mile High Magic, the 12th man, and Broncos Country are up in full force, and I don’t see it disappearing any time soon. I went to the Game on Sunday, and there was not a down when the 12th man did not yell. Although they didn’t rattle the veteran QB in Manning, we did create a lot of noise that could have rattled many others. This team and the fans are yearning for another Super Bowl, and this year is pretty special.
This team is not done. We’re 5-2, and after this week’s practices, DW will come back up and perform. This team is still the class of the AFC west, and we’ll see the broncos against the colts in the AFC championship for a very good rematch.
The performance of the whole “D” is not to blame despite their performance bex of the play calling of the D coordinator. They decided to take a “prevent the big play” approach instead of blitz Peyton and blitz often. The reason why they were 5-1 was bex they did called the plays that packaged a lot of blitz and created pressure that forced bad plays. The play calling against the Colts called for one-on-one coverage on Reggie Wayne and for Lynch to play like an outfielder. If the play calling goes back to what the Broncos do best, which was to stop the running game, and force bad throws, then we have a chance to beat the Colts in the next meeting. If we do that against the next teams we come up against we’ll be fine.

Best first post I've read. We need more people that can look at the positives in a middle of a lose right now.

Broncos27,
Excuse my ignorance if you're making a play on words in which I am unfamiliar. However, it's "Carpe Diem", not "Carpie Diem".

Not if you're trying to say "Fish Day."

the broncos didn't seem to be doing great on defense before the colts game because of blitzineg from what i saw. we were just shutting teams down. If the broncos could have taken away one of the colts demensions like the run and the linebackers didn't respect their run game then there wouldn't have been any clutch dallas clark receptions and reggie wayne passes..
Cecil sapp, and mike bell are future 1000 yd backs, given oppertunity.

LOL I'm sorry, I forgot to pull out my "Latin for Rednecks" reference guide. What was I thinking?
Seriously Broncos27, good post just wanted to point that out to you.

Only if they stay in Denver. Otherwise they are nobodies.

Two comments:
1) It's hard defending the run when the LBs are already dropping into pass coverage once the ball is snapped.
2) Mike Bell I can buy as a 1000 yd back - in Denver, but Cecil Sapp (even if he was ever given the opportunity)? :kiddingme
Best first post I've read. We need more people that can look at the positives in a middle of a lose right now.
Finding anything good in a close loss in this game reminds me of when the whole city celebrated years ago because we tied the mighty Oakland Raiders. Bottom line, the broncs and the fans, deep down, don't expect to beat Indy in key games; so not getting blown out is a positive. That's a losers mentality.
Another illustration of the same problem. I read today that Darrent Williams said he'd watched the tapes and he really hadn't played badly--he only got torched for 138 yards while Roc Alexander got torched for 230 yards two years ago. Good job, Darrent! A moral victory.
This was a huge game in terms of how things sort out at the end of the year. The only game this year that is more of a must-win game than yesterday's is our home game against San Diego. So staying close at home yesterday with a loud home crowd is no consolation at all. It's just one more in a long string of trouncings by better teams when its all on the line.
This cumulative record is having its effect on the team and the fans. We used to expect to beat anyone, anytime. Slowly, the trouncings in the playoffs are having their effect and now its OK, indeed positive, to play close to a good team.
Just like when we tied Oakland and celebrated. It was pathetic then. It's pathetic now.

I don't think anyone is celebrating the close loss. It's a game we should've won, even though our D played like dogs.

Remember this was a bend but don't break offence which means we are betting you are going to make a mistake if we can make you drive the whole field. Don't give up the big play. Won't work for Manning. You have to force him to make a mistake.

Can I ask you a question? When the Broncos lose, do you take it home?

Hey, all you lovers - I just watched the first half on NLF Replay and WOW!!! was Jake Plummer amazing. My oh my - the guy was all you could ask for in the Indy game. The truth is he knew we could beat them. This was one hell of a game where both teams are really good at doing their own thing. The offenses ruled on this day as Manning was performing surgery and the Broncos were running faster than a well honed passing attack. It really was a great game and next time we'll win it when it counts.
- 1 incomplete pass
- threw on the run like a mad man - rock solid to scheffler and kircus
- 2 broken plays turned into positive yards
- reached over the goal-line for a qb sneak TD on the first drive
- scrambled for a key 1st down on the second TD drive
- threw one hell of a ball to Javon with 20 seconds left in the 1st half
- The second half fumble was a joke - the qb was down - blame this on Jake but moreso on the damn punt team for not getting the punt off.
Other good improvements
- Tony Scheffler looked real good catching the ball
- Watching Mike Bell run was like watching a very hungry beast - the guy was unreal and now knows what it means to 'want it'!
- Tatum needs to learn how to change his cleats in mid-game progress, the guy was sliding all over throughout the game while Mike Bell was cutting on a dime and flying through and over the Colts D like a madman.
- Champ Bailey can blow you doors off - that man is unreal!
- Steelers have no chance!

Welcome to the board, and glad you could find some positives in this loss. Overall I think you made a good post, but I just have a few issues with it.

I don't know about that. Mike played well, but he has also been fresh this season while we've been riding Tatum pretty hard, and Tatum did something to his toe during the game. Tatum has also been one of the top performers in the NFL, and Mike outperforming him in 1 game won't...nor should it...be grounds to start him over Tatum unless Tatum is still hampered by his injury.
Which leads me to my next point,
Again, Tatum has been running really well for us. Now he's still dancing a little too much, but he's much improved from previous years and has the best potential of any of our backs. I hope that Tatum will continue to improve in the areas that need improving and we could easily have one of the better NFL running backs.

Agree for the most part, but who knows if the Colts make it to the AFC Championship. Their playoff history isn't too impressive.
I think you missed here, as I don't believe the play calling was to blame here. We did not get pressure on Manning, we did not tackle all that well and Darrent played like absolute crap. Mediator12 is the defensive guru of the board, and I'm sure he'll be along shortly to explain the rest.
