Who said that? Dude, the Colts scored on every posession. What the H E L L is it going to hurt to BLITZ their A S SES every other down? They're going to score anyway!! For crying out loud we had nothing to lose! So what does that fool do? He plays the defense to sit on it's heels all game! And what? He blitzed Manning two times with one extra guy? What a joke!
NEWS FLASH COYER!!!!!!! Next time we play the Colts blitz two or more guys and do it all game long. We should be practicing every blitz package known to man in the NFL! So when we play the Colts again we can hit Manning. I don't even think we had a single guy touch a thread on Manning's uniform today. He can prolly where the same uni next week without even having to wash it.
Every single person watching that game knew we needed to blitz more except Coyer. Yeah, what an adjustment magician he is. That was a playoff loss right there. We had better PRAY to god someone takes out Indy cause we sure as H E LL can't.

If Coyer made any adjustments, I didn't see them. Looked like the soft zone crap all over the field and letting Darrent get burned every time a pass went in his direction. It takes someone 20+ years in pro football to come up with such a scheme and stick with it regardless of the results? Heck, I think I could come up with something so simple.

Either way, Coyer, the talent, Darrent, everyone FAILED.
Just a terrible performance. I blaim Coyer more than anyone for not mixing in some corner blitzes, and especially some zone blitzes and rolling the help to Darrents flat.
Actually, I'll give credit where it is due.
Ludo21 is right, all Coyer did was line them up today. It was terrible. We have used zone blitzes alot, I don't know why he didnt do it today.

I didn't see any blitzes. Just the same old vanilla zone scheme every play and letting Manning play pitch and catch, dink and dunk all afternoon. The defense follows the orders given them by the defensive coordinator. Coyer made them look like keystone cops today.

People say the Broncos can't sin a Super Bowl with Plummer. I have doubts they can with Coyer running the defense. Sure, this scheme can work against poor offenses or ones prone to mistakes, but the better offenses can do what the Colts did today. You just can't keep playing a soft zone and give the same look 95% of the time. The only way would be if had a great pass rush with the front four, but this team hasn't drafted and developed d-linemen other than Pryce since Shanahan has been the coach.

Adjustments, what adjustments ? Said the same thing in an article someone posted this wqeek about how great he was at adjusting ? I have never seen him adjust well to anything the offense does.

He needs to adjust his Hanes, cuz it probably looks like a thong after the ass-whipping we got today.

Damm, you got to try something. The Colts were on such a roll. I remember Billick(sp) Droping everyone in coverage a couple of years ago. Rushing nobody, droping everyone.
Manning was confused as hell.
Really what would the have given up by giving Darrent some help over there?

Obviously not and Coyer didn't watch the tape of the Chargers knocking Peyton down every other play either.
Look, the Manning riddle has been solved by the Patriots, Chargers, and Steelers. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS WATCH THE TAPE!!! How hard can that be? Just duplicate what they do.
Instead, what do we do? We do the same thing over and over against the Colts and we get the same result. We lose..

Personnel. If you have not seen the ineffectiveness of our personnel blitzing this year you have not been watching.
They blitzed four times all game and got three first downs and a TD out it.
Great argument though!

Partly because our blitzes were from 5+ yards back and were so slow to develop that my wife could have picked it apart. We got one pressure from a blitz...ONE. That is piss poor blitz schemes.

Not that it would have helped, but I don't understand why they didn't put Foxworth on Wayne after the flood gates opened. Couldn't have been any worse, right???

Coyer himself admitted that his defense does not make many adjustments, so I really dont understand why there would be a thread on this. But, fire away.

Are they too stupid to make in game adjustments, or is he incapable of coaching them adequately to do so?

1 sack period on 3rd down and we could have won that game. Without a pass rush it will be impossible to beat the colts. Who knows maybe if even warren was healthy we could have won that game. You cant have a great defense without a real pass rusher.

Funny a weeks ago Coyer was god around here now I hear the same stuff I've been saying all along. Coyer can't even slow good teams down. Indy has scored 34 41 and 49 against us and yet worse teams like the Jets lose in last minute.

The good offenses seem to have little trouble figuring out what Coyer is doing. His coverage and blitz schemes just don't fool the good offenses and just hopes they will have a lot of dropped balls and fumbles.

The only thing CLOSE to a turnover was a Manning pass that went right through my boy Ferguson's hands. Otherwise, we were scared of giving up the "big play". If we weren't going to pressure the QB, we should have at least changed up the coverage schemes. Darrent needed help out there and he never got it. Manning didn't need to throw Bailey's way with Williams continually being burnt to a crisp...

apparently we have the biggest idiots in the world on defense, b/c it's all about personnel just not being "good enough" to try anything new
it's never about Coyer being outcoached constantly against good Offensive coordinators

I would like to know why he didn't sub Foxworth in for Dwill at somepoint mid to late game to see if he could slow Wayne down any. That is all I am mad about. It could not have gotten any worse with Fox in there.
I know the real problem was that they could not get any pressure on Manrio from Dline or the weak blitzes.
Maybe this will be good for Dwill, humility is good for most people.

Coyer seems like a deer in the headlights when it comes to making game-time adjustments against Manning ( oh and in the AFCC game)

If Coyer was truly the best at adjustments he would have put Plummer on the D-line.

So what adjustments did you want Coyer to make at the half when his defense had just held the best offense in the league to just 6 points?
Reading this thread is like watching a bunch of lemmings jump off a cliff.
Seriously, what did you want Coyer to do? Change the D after it had held the Colts to just 6 points? Unbelievable.
This isn't Madden football when you can just completely switch up the defense at the touch of a button any time you want.

Your right we should not have switched up and tried blitzing the heck out of him. Pro players need to stick with there gameplan no matter what and if the other team overcomes them, then so be it. Coyer did a fantastic job. I'd take 32-39 345yd and 3tds anyday over 39-39 450yds. and 5tds. What did we really expect? For the defense to make on the fly adjustments, and bring people up to the line and blitz his A**? Only pop warner teams do that.

He could of put Bailey on Wayne and DW on Harrison which I think is better. Doesn't matter though no pressure QB goes for 32-38 300+ and 3 tds, just lucky it didn't turn out like playoff games.

Manning has had most of his problems come from opposing linebackers that blitz and hurry him. We have the fastest trio in the league and didn't use any of their speed to go after Manning. That is so puzzling to me, i just can't understand it. We paid dearly for not using our talent properly.

Hopefully Coyer realized that and if we should play the Colts again this year, he'd better bring the house.
