C'mon...Plaease Please Please send a card to our kids. They didn't ask for this war, don't forget them.

George Bush Jr. didn't start this war, and he's not likely to end it. That isn't the point here.

The fact is that kids are out in the field and want to at least hope that they are not forgotten.

Twenty bucks will send a little care package. A Ben will send 5.

This is not aome conquest for world domination...

I want everyone to get so upset they vomit when they get a thank you card.

I don't need a thank you card God Dammit. I don't need to print out some thank you email junking my box. That's money I want going to the troops.

Jesus didn't get a thank you card. I don't want a damn Thank you card.

Anyway, the USO is my chairty of choice for our brave soldiers, you can choose your own but please choose one.

This isn't about taking sides in a nasty war.

USO Operation Phone Home®

There is an URGENT need for phone cards. Please help deployed service members call home by donating to USO Operation Phone Home.

They have sons and daughters, brothers and sisters, mothers and fathers, and friends who are with them in spirit and silently supporting them from the other side of the world. But it would mean so much to our service members to be able to hear their voices. Far from home and lonely, they are defending our flag and our freedom. The USO is working hard to bring home as close to them as possible. Please join us in USO Operation Phone Home, a campaign created to make it possible for Americans to extend this touch of home to the men and women of our armed forces. And we will continue this effort until every one comes home.

Thanks Spider. Again...this isn't about primping you chest or what side of the aisle your on. Most of the kids entered the service with promises of a free education ect...

The USO does little things that the military seems to miss on. Don't send things, they won't get thru security.

Things like flea collars for their ankles, Phone cards, Handy wipes for a dirty business...

Thanks Rascal.

We are literally fully deployed, but the biggest need is our men on the ground in that god forsaken wasteland.

I agree , despite what side of the isle you are on , the Troops are our people , they need all the help they can get ........... Troops = Beyond Politics ...... USO has been and will continue on being a great sourse for our Troops ( Grew up Watching Bob Hope , Andrew Sisters ;D )
In Fact I think alot more stars need to do some USO tours ............ I guess that is what disappoints me the most in Hollywood

Thanks to everyone who donated so far. I'm in the military (though thankfully not deployed at the moment) and I can vouch for how easy it is to feel forgotten overseas, even if you have a great family. Also, one of the toughest things about being in the military is the people that hate you because of their political affiliations. I appreciate the posters so far understanding that we have a job to do and don't have the luxury of questioning orders as many civilians do in their jobs.

Thanks again for your support. I promise that it will be appreciated.

I warned against an insurgency, but I didn't anticipate it to last this long.

The "You can lead a horse to water but can't make him drink" analogy was never truer. I'm very dissapointed how they haven't used the opportunities we have given them and are basically cowards.

I can't control any of that crap.

There is a place to send a phone card on the site. This war is lasting as long as WW2 with no end in sight.

I'm not going to step into pig crap.

This is just about the men and women serving.

Noone has to say they donated...the point isn't to posture.

That isn't why I'm doing this little fundraider...If you want to send to another group that's fine. I just know the USO is frugal as a church mouse.

I'm boing to make another challenge to my beloved friends here...

just cut and past that link and post it on other sites you visit.

I don't care if it's a porn site.

heh..just post the link...

not to turn this thread political , I dont want to ruin this thread , but the only option I can see is split Iraq into 3 Canada style providence ........

Similar climates...done...

I talked about splitting the country like India.

I was summarily dismissed as an idiot.

I didn't say it was a solution, I said it might bring at lest some temporary peace.

I don't want to go political, and I am not going into the craphole called the war and politics room.

I talk about dividing the country into different areas, and whatever. I'm not a 5 star general but I should be.

I'm also going to contribute my thanks to anyone who donates. They have the AT&T booths set up all over the country but it costs, I think it was, 21 cents per minutes to talk. When you only get to go call every week or two (if you're lucky) those minutes can add up when you're getting updates on everything happening at home. Thanks to people's donations, I and everyone I know was able to call home as often as the situations allowed and rarely had to buy our own phone cards. We don't get to see the faces behind the donations but the soldiers definitely appreciate em. Thanks everyone

As an active duty military member, I just want to say thanks for the thoughts. There are some folks doing some truly $hitty things in places that would make you more afraid than you've EVER been; and any kind prayers or small contributions you can make would be more apprieciated than you could know. Ive done my share of crap this past year, but will be leaving again very soon to points downrange after being home for a short while. Most likely just after the holidays. This is the time of year that things like a simple phone card mean so much. It allows the member to call home free of charge (thanks to you...) during the one time of year that the most support is needed. Just my two cents...Load clear.

sending money for phone cards isnt no where near the level of support we should be giving ........ I am against the Iraqi war , but not against the troops .........

I thought thise idiots would be able to stand up after a year or two.

I'm not going to make this political either but just ask for some phone cards.

I'm shaming you into spending a whopping 20 bucks.
