View Full Version : The Mock Roast

So the other night, I was looking at one of Mock's posts, and I said to myself, "Self, look at that! Mock's about to hit 60K posts. It'll probably happen this month sometime. That's something you don't see everyday."

So today, I look, and BAM! - he got to 60K and blew past it, in a matter of a day and a half, or so.

You can't stop him. You can only hope to contain him.

So I looked, and as best as I can tell, this was Mock's 60,000th post (http://www.orangemane.com/BB/showthread.php?p=1329089#post1329089). It's not Canton-worthy, but it's in many ways a fitting metaphor of all that is Mock. That is, I don't know that I really understand what the heck he is talking about, but it seems like it might be kind of interesting if I think about it long enough - sort of like Immanuel Kant, with varying degrees of coherence.

Anyway, I thought we should roast Mock, in honor of the occasion. Now, I know that not everyone thinks Mock is someone to know (not in a Biblical sense) and love. So I would suggest we keep the comments good-natured. In other words, if you don't have anything good to say (or at least not vitriolic), don't say anything at all.

So what do you say? Mock memories?

I'll give one. At one of the OrangeMane fantasy football drafts this year, Mock mentioned at the beginning of the draft that he was enjoying a *ahem* beverage. By about round eight, Mock goes radio silent with his picks. Breathlessly, we all waited to see if he had ranked his players before the draft.

The clock ticked down...

and down...

and suddenly it expired with Mock taking Neil Rackers.

Okay, a little early for a kicker, but he's arguably the best fantasy kicker out there, so what are you going to say?

Over the next eight rounds, good ol' Mock ended up taking two more kickers (making him the first player in Mane fantasy football history to have three kickers on his roster), a RB that had just been put on IR, a RB that had just been demoted to 3rd string, arguably the worst defense in the league, and a 62-year-old QB.

The draft ended up lasting almost eleven hours, but the monotony was eased by the anticipation of what cast-off the system would give Mock the next round.

Good times.

I, for one, like Mock pretty well. Some of the PMs he's sent me have been all-time keepers. I find myself laughing at some of the bizarre stuff he says, and then surprised (and sort of impressed) that I actually got some strange, vague reference he made.

Here's to you, Mock old boy!

Mock is the type of person who curses out the whole bar and ends up getting in a fight with the bathroom stall. Good times.

Since me and Mock settled our little issue, I've really come to like the guy. 1 on 1 he's surprisingly one of the nicest guys you'll talk to and his quirks just make him all that more likable. Once you get to know the guy, it's hard not to like him.

So here's to you, Mock, and 60,000 posts of pure comedy.

Actually, General Kruger was relieved of duty for objecting to McArthurs obbsession with the Phillipines. And I never said he was a 5 star general.

He felt that a war of attrition wasn't the right way to reduce American casualties. As General of the Southern Command in Australia, he protected that guy till he could jump in the the water like he was taking the Phillipines back, the whole thing was orchestrated for the media.

Want to know another thing? The Phillipines were never taken, a little known fact. The war ended before they were cleared. They had no strategic value, other than to comfort McArthurs bruised ego. We should of just gone for the throat by taking Okinowa and skipping the island hopping like Tarawa and Iwo Jima. It's called a flanking manuver. There was no reason to do that, and Nimitz couldn't stand him (McArthur)...he felt that his fleet could cut the head off the snake and simply cut off the enemies supplies and allow them to die on the vine.

60+K posts is a rather dubious honor. I'm not exactly spending my time for the elderly or serving in Iraq. I do think this place is the best sports forum on the planet, with some very knowlegable folks, who generally know 10x what the east coast talking heads present as "insider" information. We are so hard wired into this team we can literally sense things like if Jake has a case of the sinffles. Or is going blind.

Big games for the Broncos and Hornheads this week. HUGE game for Denver. A win puts us in first place in the conference I think. Of course, we never make it easy on ourselves....We ARE favored in Vegas...that's why the talkin' heads all picked against us. Fvck em. Go Broncos!

60,000 posts, whether fluff, solid takes, drunken tirades, or cat pieces, is enough to garner a bit of respect. You gotta give him props for showing some restraint as of late. Mock's been pretty good lately. Still posting drunk but not "angry Mock" that we're used to.

60,000 is even more impressive when you consider half the time he is writing random PM's to different people on the board that are equally confusing. Some are well meaning and some are not so much.

My favorite thread has special place in my heart because it marks the day that Mock decided that he hated me. It's in this thread here.

Well, she did that too...so I got this farm cat now. She stole that as well as the Griese jersey I bought for the hell of it for no rational reason...Hey Hogan, got a Miami Griese Jersey...I'll just spray paint LOSER below his name.

I had a pedegree Norwegian Forest Cat...this thing is something out of the African Outback or something...he hates being held, pouted for two months when I stripped his manhood and front claws away, and likes to fight dogs. Oh, and house jump. I've personally seen him on the peaks of three different houses...the garage is his launch pad.

Honestly, he's not much of a loving pet. He either is sleeping, outside getting in trouble, or eating.

African Wildcat:

To call Beezer domesticated would be an extreme stretch.

However, a spotted coat is prized among breeders. Unfortunatly for him, I took those pleasures away.

He loves me, kinda like an ex-wife...he makes it up by liking to snooze next to my neck, other than than using me as a heating blanket, he doen't have much use for me.

Mock's best PM has to be berating me for using "dimwit".

He said and I quote "You cant use dimwit. Taco has taken everything else away from me, dimwit is mine."

But by far my favorite thread ever on the mane was started by mock in the early days. Perhaps year 2. I cant find it, but maybe some of the older cats know what thread I am talking about.

Mock had went and found pictures on the internet for most of the regular posters on the forum. Or, pictures of how he pictured them. From Blueflame, to Sassy, to BroncoFox and Taco and dman and IowaBroncofan, Garcia, SoCal, wabbit. To this day, it was the funniest thread ever.

He is also owner of my most favorite sig ever. He had Pinky and the Brain in his sig, with Pinky holding some sort of pad and pen and Brain standing behind him looking terrified with the caption "Empty backfield in the red zone!?" or something. Hilarious. (Pinky was how he affectionately referred to Kubiak and Brain was Shanahan, in case you didnt catch it)

Of course, then there is my first encounter with Mock. I was not a Deltha Oneal fan and he LOVED Deltha. He made a feeble attempt to tear into me for my Deltha take but, like most everyone else, I just bitch slapped in virtually and that was the end of that.

I remember before Beezer or the soy crops. I remember a mock that didnt ever really appear drunk, just stupid. TOo bad most of you never got to meet that mock, he was funny in his own ignorant sort of way. Now he is just a jaded old waste of oxygen with too much time on his hands.

I had the flu last few days...I was as incontinent as Crazy Al. I never get the flu. I won't go into gory details but the washing machine has been busy.

The method to this rather embarassing comment is that we are on the verge of the time when teams start having to deal with attrition, and locker room flu.

As far as I can tell, our attrition is basically Lepsis, Courtney and Warren's nicks. Not overwhelming yet, but we are thin on the line...we should of gotten that DT that went somewhere for a second, Johnson or somebody. Second is pretty steep for a player in the dog house or whatever.

Personally I prefer the cat house to the dog house but I haven't been to Vegas quite a few years...*ca-ching* Then the biatch kicked me out of her doghouse...*kumbaya* (can hear drinks lifting over the applause)

Can you fix Paul Volker raising interest rates to 22 percent?

Want to know why if you miss a payment on your CC they can raise your rate from 3.9 to 39? Thank Paul Volker.

Want to know what the idea was to kill the economy to kill inflation and send us into a mini depression?

Ask Paul Volker.

The mantra that rates are raised to hold inflation in check are inherently flawed. I have explained this, and yes, D.U. had excellent Economic professors, but taught by the book.

The stone cold fact is rates have to be raised to sell bonds to carry the incredible debt. It's once sentence simple. Oil rich arabs wont buy bonds at low interest rates.

You raise interest rates, everything goes up because the cost of doing business goes up until companies can't carry their debt. It's done to sell bonds to finance the debt, pure and simple. Tell me how raising the cost of doing business is anti-inflationary or expansionist? We have an incredible debt, and noone is going to buy our paper at 3 percent, pure and simple.

To be honest, my trips to Mock's World are probably a big part of the reason I enjoy it here. The place would be much sadder without it. Whether some want to accept it or not, Mock is an original. In our homogenized world, you can't say that too often about anybody anymore.

Hell, just read this:
We have had drought, floods and hail...Matthew is ready to throw it in and become a jet mechanic. We are going to double crop drilling wheat this winter. If Dave loses Matt I don't know how he's going to manage. Poor kid has been worked like some orphan on Little House. I don't even know what "Lotesque" means. He reminds me of Bilbo when he said, "I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve." I know it's funny, but I'm not sure what it means. And for those who are constantly on the attack against Mock - You should be so lucky as to come up with as many original thoughts in a month as he comes up with in a day.

Of course, I know how this is going to end. Mock's ego is going to get all inflated from this thread, and by tonight he'll be incoherently cussing everybody out and end up getting banned again.

Great post Mock except it is 29.99 % not 39 but your post is right on the money.

The other shoe drops when inflation is encouraged to run wild in order to devalue the debt. That's coming next. Not a good time to be holding dollars.

Actually Baja...there isn't an usury limit in certain states. It was abolished by some state like Vermont and South Dakota. They can charge whatever they want on default.

They love to brag how the CC industry has made huge tax revenues...isn't that special...charging people allready strugling with undecured debt.

Clinton managed to almost wipe out credit cards. 29 isn't the limit at all. I might be on the card you have. Thanks to Clinton and Volker, card holders are raped if late.

Twice card payments were there by friday and they simply didn't open them so they could be cashed late. It's a known practice.

I tell them to **** off and pay off the card and they come wimpering back in a few months.

To be honest, my trips to Mock's World are probably a big part of the reason I enjoy it here. The place would be much sadder without it. Whether some want to accept it or not, Mock is an original. In our homogenized world, you can't say that too often about anybody anymore.

Hell, just read this:

I don't even know what "Lotesque" means. He reminds me of Bilbo when he said, "I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve." I know it's funny, but I'm not sure what it means. And for those who are constantly on the attack against Mock - You should be so lucky as to come up with as many original thoughts in a month as he comes up with in a day.

Of course, I know how this is going to end. Mock's ego is going to get all inflated from this thread, and by tonight he'll be incoherently cussing everybody out and end up getting banned again.

But that's Mock's World. ;D

What you are missing Ro is Mock needs his antagonists in order to be Mock.

Still, the lighter tied to jake plummer's legacy was my fav. I never interacted with him much via PM's - but he was always a great read.

Yep. Probably the cleverest, and funniest guy who ever posted on here. I'll miss him.

I made this when he talked about the lighter:

I loved how Mock could talk to almost any subject or at least have an opinion that made you think. Crops, cars, jets, military, politics, investments, whatever you want. You can also believe that when he said he was going to donate to or write a Christmas card to some unnamed soldier, he did just that. Always made me feel bad for the guy when people would pile on... he used the Mane as his escape and gave me a lot of laughs. If you took him too seriously I can see where you would go mad. Watermock and OM go hand and hand, a piece of the OM passed on when he passed in early Oct.

That would have been Slap but Mock was a big part of the OM and this place will never be a good as it was when Mock was in his prime.

Naw. Slap could get downright mean and nasty. He was funny sometimes. Mock took **** to a completely "out there" level. It was the pathos that sold me on Mock. One minute he's calling somebody names the next he is telling the most intimate details about his feelings for his cat and throws in some commentary about farming for good measure. Mock had a Hunter Thompson thing going. Completely off the wall. I've always appreciated that kind of craziness in people. ;D

The first PM I ever got on the Mane was from Mock. Didn't make a lot of sense but still it was the first. RIP Mock.

I remember when first registered on the Mane, Mock's post was one of the first I read. I understood very little of it but did get the harshness to whomever he was talking to. Lurked around here and there and kept finding Mock's post and thought I'm just not ready for this board. I actually thought I was supposed to understand his posts. When I came back several year later, stuck around and then saw Mock's posts again and still couldn't understand them. Learned that was his way and found that he was a person who believed a certain way and he would stick by it, berate you for your opinion and throw in insults and items about his cat. Took me forever to figure out it was his cat he was talking about. I enjoyed reading a thread he was in because you never knew what turn it would take.

Sorry. I can't share in that sentiment. I've had Slap and his pomposity on ignore for a very long time. Like Roh said, Mock took message board posting to a whole different level...

Whatever happened to Slap?

Didn't he get permanently banned, or something like that?

His pussy got hurt because he crossed a line and got a temporary ban and refused to return.
