What in the hell was he doing in a bar with an illegal immigrant and then apparently, sexually assaulting her?

With election day less than two weeks away, Republican Gubernatorial Candidate Jim Gibbons finds himself the center of controversy. The latest allegation involves a former nanny for the Gibbons family, who was apparently an illegal immigrant. And Wednesday, the woman accusing Gibbons of sexual assault will tell her side of the story.

The cocktail waitress involved in the sexual assault accusation says she wants to set the record straight. Chrissy Mazzeo made several calls to 911 operators claiming she had been assaulted by Gibbons.

Those calls came after the two had drinks together with several others on October 13th at McCormick & Schmick's restaurant, near Paradise and Flamingo. Mazzeo, 32, made three 911 calls that night.

She filed a police report, alleging Gibbons began flirting with her over drinks. The rambling nature of that call and two other calls brings into question her state that night. For his part, candidate Gibbons denies any wrongdoing.

"At no time did anything inappropriate take place," said Gibbons.

Gibbons says while walking Mazzeo to her truck, she slipped and fell and that he merely tried to help her to her feet. No charges were filed, but Mazzeo did hire an attorney in this matter. She'll hold a news conference Wednesday afternoon at 12:30.

Meantime, Gibbons and his wife, former Assemblywoman Dawn Gibbons, are being asked about a nanny they employed in the late 1980s. It turns out she was an illegal immigrant. Dawn says she hired Martha Patricia Pastor-Sandoval in 1987 to perform a variety of jobs at her home. She says she believed the woman was a legal US citizen.

The Gibbons campaign says these allegations are being brought-up by his opponent, Dina Titus as part of a smear campaign. Dawn says she intended to file immigration papers for Pastor-Sandoval in 1988, but never followed-up.

LAS VEGAS - A woman who says she was assaulted and propositioned by a Republican congressman running for Nevada governor said Wednesday she was physically threatened, pressured and offered money to drop her accusations and change her story.

Chrissy Mazzeo, 32, a Las Vegas Strip hotel-casino cocktail waitress, said a friend, Pennie Puhek, who claimed to have connections to Rep. Jim Gibbons' gubernatorial campaign, told her she would be paid if she dropped her accusations and signed a statement changing her account, said Mazzeo's lawyer, Richard Wright.

"There's money in this, you will get money for signing this," Wright accused Puhek of saying Oct. 16. He said a specific dollar amount wasn't mentioned but it was clear the payment would be coming from "the Gibbons party."

Mazzeo said Puhek told her that her life was in danger and "if you don't drop this, Chrissy, they will kill you, your baby and your family."
In a statement, Puhek said she never urged Mazzeo to drop the allegation "for any reason, including money," and described Mazzeo's account as "clearly fabricated."

"I believe she needs to strongly consider seeking professional help," Puhek said.
Gibbons, 61, issued a statement Wednesday saying he did nothing inappropriate and calling the statements by Mazzeo and Wright defamatory and outrageous. He said it was a lie to suggest he or anyone in his campaign "threatened violence or offered money to anyone in an attempt to cover up these allegations."

Mazzeo accused Gibbons of pushing her up against a wall Oct. 13 and propositioning her in a parking garage near a restaurant-bar where they had met earlier in the night. Gibbons, in statements to police and at a news conference with his wife last week, said he walked Mazzeo to the garage, caught her when she tripped and walked away.
Mazzeo said she decided not to press charges the next day, shortly after Gibbons was interviewed by police for the first time. She did not recant her story, but told police she did not want to "go up against" a congressman.

Sonny was a loner, he was older than the rest.
He was goin' in the Navy, but he couldn't pass the test.
So he hung around town, he sold a little pot.
The law caught wind of Sonny, and one day he got caught.
But he was back in business, when they set him free again.

Sonny's playing eight-ball, in the joint where Sherry works
When some drunken out-of-towner, put his hand up Sherry's skirt.
Sonny took his pool cue, laid the drunk out on the floor.
