Just wondering what everybody thinks what we can get for Jake next year. Before his crappy play, I thought he was worth a 3rd but now I think he gets Cut or we get a 4th for him. Oh who am I kidding, I just wanted to post another plummer thread:)
backup qb

The raiders would probably give up a first for him. I'm kidding. Can't see how you are going to get much when everyone knows you are trying to move him. Oh well, he had a pretty nice run here. He won a ton of games and was able to tase playoff football again and be part of a 1st class organization.

This question would be better asked at the end of the season it could vary from a can of vienna sausages to a 3rd of 4th rounder, still alot of time left. (stock could go up or it could go down)

Give him to the Skins for their first. ;D
Speaking of Washington and their trades, Jet fans are loving the Redskins season so far just like us because they get their 2nd rounder this year. That might end up being a real high pick and close to a first rounder.

How do you go down from nothing? Because that's exactly what we'd get at this point.

Forgot about the screwing over the skins option. That would have been better than putting see above on the 2nd round pick.

I think he walks up to the podium after winning the super bowl and says "this ones for pat (tilman)" and then walks away from the game never to be heard from again. Gets a cabin somewhere in the deeps woods of Idaho and just enjoys his money and his life.
I know I know maybe he is using some reverse mojo where instead of playing well in the regular season and then not so well in the post season he is playing poorly in the regular season and is going to light it up in the post season. What do you think ?

I'm guessing a fourth at the highest, and that's to a team desparate for a QB. Maybe, just maybe a late-third. . .

Ok, I clicked on the results, and am shocked.
Why would the worst QB in the NFL, with the leagues 5th best rushing attack, garner any draft picks, when there are free agents that are better than him?

I think we have to bonus or restructure and trade him to get anything, and that could mean a cap hit unless it's structered just right. The only teams in line will have to agree to the deal ahead of time or we get nothing.

What team would want him in anything more than a backup capacity? Except the Broncos of course.
His trade value is nothing at his current salary.

and a Chief fan talking about a QB's trade value is about as credible as a Dolphins fan talking about a RB's trade value.

You guys undervalue a starting QB. I've already posted it multiple times, but go look at Green's, Bledsoe's, and Culpepper's situations, the latter two's contracts, their age, and career numbers at the time they were traded. Not saying Jake will pull what they did, but the 2nd day pick stuff is probably not close either.

I agree with that, but at the same time I can't see us trading him at this point. Now maybe if we land a vet in the offseason. I still don't see anyone I would really feel good with backing up a first year starter though. We will see what kind of pay cut he is willing to take to try and fight for his job, even though he will lose that fight.

Depends. What was Dante's winning record before he got hurt? I know that Jake cant be helping his situation right now playing like he is. And with all the rumors about Jay starting next year teams are probably just going to wait at the very least.

Number One - Everyone is assuming Cutler will win the job next year. Probably a good bet, but not a sure thing.
Number Two - despite the hate here for Plummer, he is in the middle tier of QBs in the league. Several better and several worse. Some much worse. There will be several teams begging for him including a couple of division rivals.
Number Three - Jake is pretty damn frugal and is his own man, so if he is not satisfiied with his situation come next August, i suspect he will put all of his cash in his Honda element and pull a Zimmerman and disappear into the woods of Idaho where he can tell the press to f off.

Well, i guess my point is that Green and Daunte probably had " upside " to the teams that were interested. Bledsoe at least brought in the fact that he had been to 2 Super bowls and played in one. Jake though, has just now gotten over the 500 mark for wins in his career and has come out shooting blanks this year. I just dont see how a team ( who will probably need a veteran Qb ) who needs help at that position giving that much up for him.

Green- Agree
Bledsoe- Agree
Daunte- not so much because of how bad his injury was
I think a few teams will look past what happened in Arizona and focus on the Broncos when he finally received some coaching.

True, but if its a team like Miami or Cleveland he is still going to need a lot of help surrounding wise. Although i doubt he can outplay Charlie Frye to win a spot there.

WTF are you talking about? That "great coaching" has him as the 32'nd ranked passer, on track for 21 picks. He just laid a 51.8 turd at HOME against CLEVELAND despite Tater rushing for decent numbers and the D almost pitching a shutout...
That is...before Jake threw a duck up for a pick.
Only 6 games into the season it's way too hard to say. Unless he turns his ship around big time and has an impressive showing in the playoffs, I don't think there will be more then a few teams even interested. They all know his tendencies to turn the ball over and people will think all the wins were a result of being on a team with winning tradition and great coaching staff. People always are looking for QB's but at best I think he gets an offer to compete for a starting job. I don't think anyone is going to just give it to him.

Yeah a QB with a winning % of around .700 since he got here is going to go straight into being a backup.

I think Cutler wins the job and Jake refuses to restructure his deal to take a backup role and we end up having to cut him, thus rendering us no compensation.
Only way I see this changing is if two or more teams really want Plummer and are willing to strike a trade before we cut him in order to get his rights.

Daunte was stinking before he even got hurt last year and Miami gave them a high 2nd for a bad and injured QB. Yes he does have more upside than Jake but still. I agree with Herc, we might not get value like that but it will still be pretty good if he does end up getting traded.

The Bronco FO likes to guard their salary cap number wouldn't a deal of any kind help alleviate some of what we owe. I know if he's released the bonus counts against our cap but a trade might change things in the accounting ledger right? I bet a trade is attempted and if no takers he'll be cut.

I didn't think he was worth anything. Teams would've realized he's being cut, so why waste a draft pick on him. He's a journeyman QB in his 30's. Who cannot throw accurately and cannot pass from the pocket consistantly. Teams aren't going to trade a pick for him when he'll be available on the open market. He wasn't worth anything before the season, and clearly as the season goes on he's still not worth anything.

He will not restructure and stay in denver as a backup. But he will only play as a back up... unless mc nair leaves baltimore and jake goes there.

Any nincompoop can see that Jake has had a decent history in Denver. One bad 1/3 of a season does not a career make. All of this garbage about QB-deficient franchises not being interested in Jake is just that. Garbage.
There will be a market for Jake, and he will have first day trade value.
