I'm sure it will be decided this week...either way...he'll miss the game against us...unless by some miracle he wins his appeal

I heard that there will be a hearing/ruling in two weeks.

It looks like he'll be playing two weeks and then out starting with the Bengals game, so yes, the Chargers should be without Merriman for the Denver game.

The good news for the Chargers is that it looks like Shaun Phillips will be back in two weeks so they won't have any games where they're missing both of them.

Cracks me up that Merriman says that he apologized to his teammates and that he's taking responsibility for all of this, and then in the same breath claims that he didn't do anything wrong and that he's going to appeal.

On NFL live, Trey Wingo stated that Merriman's lawyer stated the appeal process should take months? Anyone else hear that, or was I mistaken.
I thought it had to be done right away. Or are they just trying to stall it into next year?

What is funniest abou this is that if Merriman is facing suspension it is because of a second offense! Idiot!

Maybe he is not a sports lawyer, otherwise he would know that appeal processes in sports are designed to work within a couple of weeks. Otherwise players would always appeal and the "punishment" would never apply until the next yr (which to my knowledge has never happened, unless it was a playoff game).

I didn't hear that but I didn't see the show so can't really comment on it. I did hear the same thing that Boltaneer heard. He will most likely play the next two weeks and then his appeal will be heard. Unless the suspension is overturned he will serve 4 games in about 2 weeks.

Wrong. Performing enhancing drugs/steroids will cost a player a suspension for the first offense.

Recreational drugs do not cost a player a suspension until the second offense. The first offense is kept private.

I believe he apologized to his teamates for any distraction this may cause and yes, he has to take responsibility for this since he is responsible for what he puts into his body.

As I'm sure everyone knows now, he is claiming the positive test was a result of a supplement he took. Whether I believe that or not, is another discussion but that's why he's claiming he did nothing wrong.

I can't say I believe the guy at all, but he is entitled to his due process.

Merriman's official appeal hearing is on november 7th. It would have been sweet if it was a few days later. He would have missed both Broncos game as they are 4 weeks apart.

Shaun Phillips is onlt expected to miss this week now as opposed to the 4-6 weeks that was reported earlier.
