He has one catch for51. Take that away he has under 100 yards.
He has 8 catches after 5 games.

Oh the good ol days of Lelie vs. Kennison debates.

This shouldn't be a suprise to anyone. He is their current number three, and actually has twice the production of our current number three.
I don't know why people hold a grudge against the guy. He's in a contract year, and needs more than the four passes Plummer has completed to his number 3, David Kircus. Lelie wasn't the problem in Denver (clearly), and he's not the problem in Atlanta either. Their number one receiver only has 13 catches and 172 yards in 5 games. Lelie has 8 for 150, and he's not even a full time starter yet. Lelie is working his way up the depth chart there, but Vick has regressed worse than Jake has as a passer. But at least he's getting more opportunity in Atlanta than he would have in Denver.
Bottom line though, Lelie is doing everything asked of him in Atlanta. There aren't any drops that you can point to; he's catching everything that gets to him. To boot, they're not using him for the passing game as much as they're using him to block in their running game.
Sorry Mock, but this thread is nothing short of ignorant.
From the Associated Press:
"He's bought into our culture," said Falcons coach Jim Mora of Lelie, who has proved he is willing to lower his shoulder pads and block on running plays.
"Willingness maybe is a good word," Mora said. "Everyone knows Ashley can stretch the field. Everyone knows he can fly and he has made two long catches the past two weeks. He catches the ball well on the inside stuff.
"The one thing that was a question mark for us when we made the trade was what kind of blocker he was going to be for us in our run game. He has done a nice job. He has bought into our culture of our receivers are down-and-dirty and blocking. It is great to see him do that."
Lelie also has made catches of 48 and 51 yards the last two weeks, numbers that show an emerging new side of Vick's game.

I gotta agree with TJ...just because he didn't want to be Bronco doesn't mean he's evil or something.

I have no animosity towards LElie either. It was down right idiotic to leave, but i dont hate him for it.
Vick is terrrible right now, so the fact taht he is doing what he has been doin is phenomenol.
Here is another quote ;D
Rod Smith on fans calling for Cutler to start:"Some of the people saying it, whoever said it, are morons," Smith said. "That's what I think."

Once we get a quarterback who is able to use both sides of the field on any given play, our third WR woes will dissapear.

Could you pick one you'd like to have? I'm having trouble defining what a good number three receiver is. Actually in our offense it's normally the Tight End.

Watts, his rookie year. Our TE play has been awesome this year as well.

I guess Kennison would have been a good number three if he didn't quit.

I guess. Kircus has been more clutch when he's actually been thrown to than Watts ever was. I can think of two or three catches that Watts would have dropped for sure.

Watts is way more talented though. I think of Charles Rogers. Really how bad can that guy really be? He was very good in college and yet he isn't in the NFL. Is it really possible that he couldn't bring more to this team then what Kircus does? Kircus is what he is, and I don't find fault in him really, I just believe he has way more hype around him then hes earned. Same with Marshall, and every WR we've drafted before him.

actually Lelie caused alot of turmoil and it wasn't good for the team. Screw any player that doesn't want to play for Broncos. So hating may be a little stupid but since when was being a fan suppossed to always be logical? ok so Lelie didn't kill anyone but we can still hate him. If you don't want to hate him that's ok with me though. I hate him enough for us all.

LOL
It disrupted the ego of some fans more than it did any damage to the team.

Yeah, Shanahan loved the entire episode. Rod Smith, too.
Here's my attitude, anybody who talks **** walking out the door can go slink off and die for all I care. Bertrand Berry comes to mind.
The whiny maggots on this board who cried when Shanahan let him go didn't realize journeyman defensive linemen who peak late in their careers also tend to fade early. One good season in AZ and he's been an injury-riddled salary cap albatross the last two years.

Lelie didn't say anything bad about the organization on his way out. The guy just saw the reality of his situation: he's in a contract year, relegated to the third wide out spot on a team with a quarterback who can barely make two reads.
I think the guy went about things the wrong way, to be sure... But I don't begrudge him his decision to find a place where he'd have a legitimate shot to honestly compete for a number one spot and a chance to cash in on all the hard work he's done his entire life to get to the point he is. The second contract is one of the most crucial a player will ever have, and likely Lelie's last real shot at a real big pay day. I wouldn't want my family's future riding on Plummer's ability to make a third read, would you?
Rod Smith on Ashley Lelie's Hold Out:
"I love having him on my football team, I love when he's on the football field making those plays, because he's a talented guy. I think it would be a waste of his talent to not be on the football field during football season, but it's his business and he gets to make those business decisions for him and his family, and I can't knock that. Whatever his rationale for doing it, I support it."

You can find comments in the DPO from Rod questioning why Ashley's head was up his narrow ass, too.

I think he'd probably have even worse numbers here. However, i DO have a reason to not like him. He was part of this team, he had a contract with this team. Why on Earth did he feel that a team couldn't have 3 good receivers? The Colts do. The Bengals do. The Seahawks now do. I realize that his production would be down, but those passes that did come his way would be huge gainers IMO. Then you introduce Cutler to an offense with Rod Smith, Javon Walker, and Mr. One Trick Bronco and you have some big time fireworks.
He pretty much screwed that up.

LeLei will pick his own team next year and may be able to get on with one that has a QB who can throw the long ball with accuracy. His choice to leave the Broncos will cost him in his negotiations though. Too bad he didn't see Cutler as our #1 draft pick before he played his hand and chose to hold out of off season workouts. Too much "crow to eat" to change his mind after that I suppose. Oh well, Se La Vie

Screw that whining *ussy. He should of manned up and played to be a # 1 guy like he said he wanted to be. Show it, prove it on the field, dont whine about it through the media. His problem is, is that he's not # 1 , and I doubt he ever will be the #1 guy unless he goes to the fade & Moss quits that outstanding team..
Even in Vick's HBO interview when he was doggin every one, receivers too, it showed Lilly running his long ball pattern in the end zone just to have the ball hit him square in the hands then dropped onto the carpet. Sure he could of been a viable threat in our Offense once we had a Qb to throw it to him, but if you dont want to be a Bronco then take your sorry ass elsewhere.

On the TV they were saying the Falcons are gonna try to go with more "Vick Friendly" plays which includes more deep balls. I'm ready to bury the hatchet and see Lelie succeed. It'd suck for him to miss out on his big contract just because his QB sucks. And hey, maybe his whining was what pushed us to go for Javon. I'd rather Javon than Lelie any day.

Anytime a player forces the rest of the team to answer questions about why he isn't here? Do you agree with what he's doing? etc etc etc, it's always a distraction and any amount of distraction is a bit of turmoil that Broncos could have done without. Screw Lelie and any other player that doesn't do his best for the Broncos every single day they are with the team. If you get cut or traded but it wasn't of your own doing then I prob won't hate you as much. But when you ask out, screw team, hold out, talk crap, or any combo of these things you get on my crap list. If you want to think nice thoughts then go ahead and do it. I for one would rather dream about the day both Lelie and Kennisson are put out of the NFL. By the way what does the team agreeing or disagreeing with his tactics have anything to do with wether it caused turmoil? The front office had to waste time trying to deal him when they could have been spending time on something else. The coaching staff I'm sure had plans for Lelie that once his attitude changed also had to be changed. Tons of things upset the condition of a team when a player does the type of things Lelie did to Broncos in offseason. Now did Broncos make best of it? Yes they did do a great job getting him gone and getting something for him. It was however a distraction. I've been following football a long time and I'm not sure why some of you are so nice and politically correct. Football isn't about those things for the fans IMO. Being a great fan is about loyalty and passion for the team. Any player that doesn't match the loyalty and passion that I have for Broncos is a turd in my book and can have the helmet rack removed from body for all I care. Oh yeah and if I was at a game and Lelie was writhing on the field I would do a toast and celebrate. Screw political correctness when it comes to rooting for the Broncos.

I don't care about being liked because I don't need validation to feel good about myself. I just speak my mind and when it comes to football I'm not politically correct. In my user rep though i have plenty of comments that agree with me on many things. You crack me up because if any of you heard how brutal football players talk when the mic isnt on you would all probably hate most of the team.
