Just another one of these "crazy parallel" threads


Back in the 02 season, Tampa had a lockdown defense, and a struggling offense. And I mean struggling. 21st in the league in yards per pass attempt and 26th in yards per rush. Link (http://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/tam2002.htm). Yet once they reached the playoffs, their offense started clicking, en route to 35 points per game average in the playoffs. Obviously some of those points were scored by the defense, but still, the offense definitely turned it up a notch.

Back in the present, we see another team with a great defense and struggling offense. Hopefully we won't have to wait until the playoffs to see some offense, but even if we do, there is still some hope and a pattern to follow.

It's just hard to watch Bronco football right now with the offense. We just aren't used to this kind of lackluster approach. It's really dissapointing that now our defense is truely elite and all of a sudden our offense can't match it. I hope we get it going soon. If we do, we will be very hard to stop.

Another optimist dares to show his head and suffer the slings and arrows.

I'm with you, chicken. I think this team is in a good position. I'd rather have this defense and a suspect offense than have a lights-out offense and a suspect defense.

All comparisons to other great histocial Defenses are a moot point to me until we show any ability to rush the passer consistently.

I don't care how good we 'stat-rank' now; if we can't get the QB with any degree of competence, we ain't winning ****.

I was tempted to get excited about the plays Dumervil made Monday, and how truly 'modern game aggressive' he looked on those plays. But then it resonated, ......"it's only Oakland".

Many here are down on #18 and think he is a big playoff choker, etc. But, with our Pass Rush, I still think #18 would hang 30+ on us in a playoff game and there is no question in my mind about it.

I'll be a full bore believer if we can rush the QB.
