first off, it's the middle of FOOTBALL season (remember what March is like?). the anticipation of each game, the fun of being consumed with each play. every game is exciting. 3 hours of pure concentration, the rest of the world is on hold.
add to that, we are 4-1 and should be 5-1 after Sunday
add to that we have a world class defense
add to that we have javon walker and tatum bell on an offense that will come around (this week!)
and lastly, it's FOOTBALL season!
the cup is half full and i can't wait for sunday.

I'm still not sold on Tatum he is doing "ok" but so has every other running back we have had here. He is far from special and hasn't lived up to his second round draft status. I still want to see more of him running between the tackles. I think that would open our offense a little more.

100 post rule is an unwritten request for new members not to start threads until they have a little experience on the Mane and understand the landscape. Well thought out threads are always welcome, but we get some doozies from some newbies.

Screw it.... I'll be the one to say the cup is FULL.
Our team isn't functioning as flawlessly as they/we'd like them to, but think about it...
Who would you rather be right now? Us, or....
-Chicgo, who just got exposed... even if they did pull out a win. Great defense, but an offense UNLIKE OURS who haven't proven they can be effective over a couple of seasons. Grossman played a couple of good games but has been injury prone.
-Indy, with absolutely no run defense to speak of and an offense that doesn't look the same without E.J..
-New England, who we beat.
-Pittsburgh, who has been up and down.
-San Diego, who lost to a team we beat... and Marty is their coach.
Rather be any of those teams? Feel free to jump ship. I wouldn't. I'll take our 4-1 record, smothering defense and offense that is starting out slowly (though scoring when they have to) under a new coordinator.
We haven't even been in danger of losing a game since week 1. I'm trying to recall if we've even been behind in a game. We're winning by 10 pts a week and better yet, our defense is actually showing the ability to play playoff style football. Once our O gets rolling like last year, forget about it.
Add to that, we've got a young team and a potential franchise QB in the waiting.
The glass is full, baby.

Those two teams are 6-0. I'd rather be 6-0, or given our bye, 5-0. 4-1 isn't good enough for me when that one loss came to a mediocre Rams team due to a total offensive meltdown.

If this were chess, and Shanahan was the king, we are playing without our Queen. Fine the stat line looks ok...11 for 18, no picks. Fantastic. Two passes that could of been picked, no TD's, and completely ineffectual offensive play against the only winless team in the NFL.
I guess it will have to wait till we run into a buzzsaw for the apologists to realize that the glass is half empty. Realists that don't wear orange sunglasses to shade the obvious know that this is a ticking time bomb that is going to blow up. Shanahan is doing everything possible to prop up "Tin Man" from the "Vote of Confidence" to "Deflection".
I could grin and bear it if the only option was Bradlie or Jarrious Jackson. Evidently, Shanahan is content to wait for a world class ass kickin' before making a move.
Chicago has nothing to do with Denver whatsoever. The Cardinals and HornHeads almost beat them, both should of. That team reminds me of the team that continually got turnovers and improbable victories several years ago and wimpered one and out in the playoffs. Christ, they are playing a soft schedule and get Green Bay, Vikes and Detroit for 6 wins right there.
Noone is unhappy we are 4-1, but we better keep putting acorns away before we hit the meat of the schedule.

Yeah, we were behind vs. the Ravens, and behind vs. the Chiefs, if I recall correctly.
No one is saying that we're not happy to be 4-1. But we're now a third of the way through the season, and our offense sucks a$$. And given that the toughest part of our schedule is yet to come, that is a BIG concern.....but apparently not to you.

We don't score a single point, AT HOME, against OAKLAND in PRiME TIME and everything is hunkie dorie.
You think 13 points is going to knock off Indy? Pittsburg? San Diego twice? Seattle? We have games coming up with both of last years SB contenders, and the team that went into the post season with the best record in the NFL. Yet you seem bewildered at the impending landslide. Well, some of us see the horizon.
We see invisible TE's. We see Tater take a series off, looking like he had no interest being out there for a series...we see the defense with hands on their hips visibly frustrated. We see a rather outspoken Javon speak out and I don't think it was at Shanahan, and Rod Smith didn't say a damn thing to contradict him, or even tell him to keep it in house. Rod didn't say anything but basically imply he agreed.
It's not a full blown mutiny, yet. If we were 2-3, it would be. Want me to give you our average scoring? It's not even 13 points. Historically in the Shanahan era, it's been closer to 23.

you're right, half full implies some "problems". all the more reason to enjoy the fact we have dodged a bullet so far this year. historically this team, coach, QB, and running game have proven they can score points. i just don't see why they can't turn it around this year. half full and rising...:strong:

The difference between you and me, is that you don't care. "We are 4-1....everything is great", you'll say....actually "glass is FULL" were your exact words.

I correct myself. I meant to say "In the second half" we didn't score a single point. If Cecil doesn't drop a sure TD we go up by 17, that isn't the point. where was the 17 we should of dropped in the second half? 34 points and I'm more than happy. The stone cold fact is, we didn't.

One game can be chalked up to "any given Sunday", Popps. And it's not inconceivable that the Bears simply "overlooked" the perennially-underachieving Cardinals.

Okee dokee.
If he were playing at the level Grossman is playing now.... then perhaps there wouldn't be a half-dozen threads on page one about offensive struggles...
Plummer isn't being criticized for poor play in one game, Popps... he's being criticized because the much-lower performance level looks like a trend.
You could be right, I said I wasn't sure. I DO know we were never in danger of losing those games. When you say behind, what... a FG in the first quarter or something?
Um... from the stands, it certainly looked like we could have lost the Chefs game. Tied at 6 going into overtime with scarcely an offensive spark through 60 minutes of regulation play, a lot was riding on the coin toss.

But in order to average between 12 and 13 points per game, some of those games have to be under 10 points... hence, single digits.
Popps will whine plenty down the road... about the defense... if the offense continues to put up under 13 points and the defense allows 13. It will then be Coyer's... and the defense's fault if we lose.

Hi, my name's Rod Puller, and I'm a Niners fan.
We are awesome. Woooooooo, go Niners! We have scored 124 points this year. That's like 60+ points per victory!!1!!1!
Pile up those touchdowns, boys, because we're heading for the Superbowl! Just 4 short seasons ago we were in the playoffs, and we're going back. Our QB is awesome, having at least a TD in each of the past 2 seasons.
I feel embarassed for you Broncos fans and your pitiful 62 points. I mean, that's like winning one game 62-3 and getting shut out in all the others. So, really, your team is 1-4.
And look at your unbelievably weak schedule. Only 3 of 5 teams are even over .500, and those teams are only 11-3 in their other games. What a joke! The Chiefs are only .500 in other games. So basically, other than those 4, every other game has been against a winless team.
Might I remind you that 4 games against mediocre competition (13-5), and all the other games against winless teams in a 16 games schedule is weak. Just a horrible performance.
And don't forget, you have basically been shut out in 80% of those games.
Not only that, but if you set aside 68 passes, Jake Plummer has thrown an incompletion or an interception, on every single pass this season! That is pretty bad for anyone.
Thank god I'm a 49ers fan, not a Broncos fan.

Get some diapers. You'll hear it again, except I think most people are saying.. give IT time, as in the whole offense to gel with a new O.C. a new starting RB, a new TE and a new main WR, plus the transition of our #1 WR to the #2 spot.
Orange4Lifeis an adamant Plummer backer (and even he seems to recognize his limitations) ... but I don't think there are any Plummer "nut-swingers" on this board. (Sorry Jake, not calling you a nut-swinger, just a adamant supporter. )
The problem is, those who hate Plummer (50% of board wished injury on him) are so consumed with their obsession that they assume anyone who thinks Plummer isn't ALL of the problem ALL of the time, is in love with him.
No, it's just called looking at a bigger picture. Mike Shanahan basically called out the "QB the only problem" types this week, saying that they didn't know what the hell they were even looking at.
Right now, he's certainly struggling. He played well all of last season, save game 1. So, if you want to assume panic should set in because we're starting out slow under a new O.C., that's your business.

I think you should. We haven't changed head coaches, an offensive coach...Dinger was WR coach during the SB years. We have basically two offensive coordinators, Dennison and Dinger, but they have different duties. Maybe they are conflicting, but I don't see that. Alexander started last year at TE...Rod started at WR, Jake is in his 4th year here. Javon Walker came from a west coast offense and hardly is the problem.

I do not mean to imply that Plummer supporters are the equivalent of athletic supporters. Although "female-type athletic supporter" offers a highly amusing visual.
Just because I am more patient than you, that does not mean that I am opposed to starting jay at the appropritate time, and I do not think that the season has been badly lost to date, with Jake at the helm.
