Whatever.

Its always been a threat. My favorite was Tom Clancy Blowing up half of Denver from the Superbowl with a poorly constructed nuclear device in The Sum of all Fears. Not one of his editors caught the fact that Denver will never host the Superbowl until the allow a coldweather city to host one without a dome.

BTW, the hollywood edited version chose BAL instead. Just goes to show you how poorly edited most movies and books are.

That was Denver? I thought the stadium in that movie was a dome? Unless, they were about as correct with the stadium as they were with where the SB was being played.

Baltimore would be a great destination. I love when they stick the Super Bowl in some lousy city because there's nothing better than seeing the bitter pricks in the media savage the League for two weeks straight.

In the Sum of All Fears...a nuke was set off during the super bowl in denver. I believe the two teams were Minnesota and San Diego...I could be wrong on that...it's been awhile.

In that book Denver was a Domed Stadium.

Stadium in the movie was supposed to be BAL, Stadium in the book was DEN.
Book was written in 1989-90 and published in 1991. This threat is just overhyped because of 9/11.

The person, described only as a young adult, did not appear to have any ties to terrorist groups, according to a law enforcement official who spoke on condition of anonymity because the investigation was ongoing.

The threats, which were posted on the Internet site a week ago, were not seen as credible and were not backed up by intelligence indicating such an attack might be imminent, according to the FBI and the Homeland Security Department.
Homeland Security on Wednesday alerted the NFL and authorities in New York, Miami, Atlanta, Seattle, Houston, Oakland and Cleveland, saying they were acting "out of an abundance of caution."

Homeland Security spokesman Russ Knocke on Wednesday said the threat was viewed "with strong skepticism." Still, the agency contacted the National Football League, local authorities and stadium owners. Also notified was the National Collegiate Athletic Association.
The online posting, dated Oct. 12, was part of an ongoing conversation titled "New Attack on America Be Afraid." It appeared on a Web site, "The Friend Society," that links to various online forums and off-color cartoons. The site's Internet provider declined to comment.

The message said trucks would deliver radiological bombs to stadiums in New York, Miami, Atlanta, Seattle, Houston, Oakland and Cleveland -- and that al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden would claim responsibility.
A dirty bomb would use conventional explosives to scatter radioactive material. Such a blast probably would not cause many deaths, experts say, but the fear of contamination could spark panic. Land and buildings hit with radioactive particles might be unusable for years.
Authorities traced the site's Internet provider to Voxel Dot Net Inc., which has support and engineering staff based in Troy, N.Y. A man who answered the phone at Voxel Wednesday declined to give his name, said he was unaware of the posted threat and refused further comment.
The author of the threats, posted at 9:31 p.m. ET on Oct. 12, identified himself online as "javness."

In this phony threat, were all the bombs going to be detonated simultaneously? Because 4 of the stadiums mentioned are scheduled to host early games, and 3 scheduled to host late games. Or are we to think that bombs going off in stadiums wouldn't cause every game to be instantly abandoned and every stadium evacuated? Not very clever.

Football stadium threat a hoax, FBI says

By EMILY FREDRIX, Associated Press Writer Thu Oct 19, 7:26 PM ET

MILWAUKEE - Internet threats of "dirty bomb" attacks at NFL stadiums this weekend were a hoax inspired by a writing competition between two men trying to come up with scary threats, a law enforcement official said Thursday.

The threats, which were posted on a Web site last week and mentioned stadiums in seven U.S. cities, were deemed to be false by the
FBI on Thursday after agents questioned a 20-year-old Milwaukee man.

"This is a hoax," said Special Agent Richard Kolko, a spokesman at the FBI's Washington headquarters. A joint statement from the FBI and Homeland Security said fans "should be reassured of their security as they continue to attend sporting events this weekend."

An FBI official in Washington, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the case is still under investigation, said the Milwaukee man acknowledged posting the phony stadium threat as part of a "writing duel" with a man from the Brownsville, Texas, area to see who could post the scariest threat.

The Texas man corroborated the story during questioning Thursday by FBI agents, the official said. Investigators also searched the Milwaukee man's computer, the official added.

No decision has been made yet on whether charges will be filed, the official said. In Houston, FBI spokeswoman Shauna Dunlap said officials are not investigating any connections to the NFL scare in that jurisdiction.

Milwaukee police contacted the FBI about the 20-year-old man Wednesday night.

"From the information we have, we believe he was involved to some extent, but we don't know at what level," said FBI agent Douglas E. Porrini. He added, "That person was released, but we're not saying that he won't be charged."

The threat, dated Oct. 12, appeared on a Web site, The Friend Society, that links to various online forums and off-color cartoons. Its author, identified in the message as "javness," said trucks would deliver radiological bombs Sunday to stadiums in New York, Miami, Atlanta, Seattle, Houston, Cleveland and Oakland, Calif., and that Osama bin Laden would claim responsibility.

"The information posted on this Web site we viewed with strong skepticism and there was no credible intelligence to suggest there was a threat," said Russ Knocke, a spokesman at the Department of Homeland Security.

The agency alerted authorities Wednesday in the cities mentioned, as well as the NFL and the National Collegiate Athletic Association. But the FBI and Homeland Security said there was no intelligence indicating such an attack might be imminent.

"I don't think it was put out there to be real," said FBI agent Linda Krieg in Milwaukee. "Whoever put it out there is not in a position to actually carry through on it."

The man questioned did not appear to have any ties to terrorist groups, according to the official who spoke on condition of anonymity.

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said stadiums are well protected through "comprehensive security procedures" that include bag searches and pat-downs.

If they ever put a domed stadium in Denver, I would be in full support of nuking it.

For the greater good of the city and people who live there, Denver should've built a dome. The city would've hosted a superbowl, final fours, college bowl games, huge conventions, big concerts year round, etc. The dome would've provided opportunities for the city year round in a cold weather climate.

I believe if I remember correctly a state of the art retract dome was going to cost around 750 million. This is what the Broncos initally wanted. Eventually, the idea was killed because it was possibly deemed too expensive for the voters and the stadium would've been shot down come voting time. I remember voters were never to keen on building a new football stadium. So they revised the plan for a cheaper open-air stadium, pump the ads on tv, I believe Denver won the 2 superbowls around this time, and less tax hit on the voters. Voters approved and this is what you have today.

NEWARK, N.J. - Federal authorities Friday charged a Wisconsin man with making a hoax threat that said seven football stadiums across the nation would be targeted by terrorists with radiological "dirty bombs" this weekend.

The U.S. Attorney's Office in Newark did not immediately identify the man but said in a news release announcing the charge that he would be in court in Milwaukee later Friday.

One of the stadiums allegedly targeted was Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.

The only thing domed stadiums do is cultivate pansyass hothouse flower football teams. Not to mention pansyass fans, who are so pathetic they have to pump in recorded crowd noise over the loudspeakers.

There are plenty of facilities in Denver to accomodate the events you're talking about and anybody who thinks its too cold is free to move to warmer climes.

Yes, they do cultivate dainty football teams.

I'm referring to large events and the economy of the city. And no the current facilities in Denver cannot host large scale events. For example, the Superbowl or the Final Four. The retract dome would've created jobs, tourism, and pumped billions into the local economy.

Went there over Labor Day weekend. What a damn joke. However, my daughters loved it, so that made it worth the trip. But you are absolutely correct. Clothes, clothes, and more clothes. They had a display on Jim Morrison. There werent any clothes (well, a cub scout shirt) but it had things like his 4th grade report card. Even worse, its more disorganized and rambling than this posting! They will have an Elton John outfit next to a James Brown outfit next to an NSync outfit. It makes no sense at all. That and completely overprice.
