IMO, what he's saying is that through the first five games of the '06 season, the Broncos have not displayed a playoff-caliber offense. Of the teams we've faced, the Pats and Ravens are the only two AFC teams that have a snowball's chance of making a postseason appearance. Against playoff-quality teams, we're likely to need more than 12 points...

Scared of losing in the playoffs was what glared to me. It's just crazy to be scared of making the playoffs. Certainly you want to be hitting on all cylinders come second season, but to worry about it now is misplaced worry.

Exactly. Jake's Passing Percentage tells us everything we need to know. But, just like i called it after the Rams game we have people already starting to blame everyone else just like they did in the AFCCG. The Spinmeisters are in full force but there is nothing to back up their statements this year. They are grasping at straws.

Ya know, I can put up with a lot of crap, but "Spinmeister"? That's "Mr. Spinmeister" to you. I think I've earned that.

Actually, "Ace" is what I prefer. Aceman, Acedude, Your Aceness, Acerrific, Aceamonius, those are cool too.

Semantics.... whether we're talking "panic", "worry", "alarm", "concern"... whatever, I think it's reasonable to want an explanation when performance takes such a distinct dropoff. The difference is only the degree of consternation each fan experiences with the realization that the offense is executing at the level of the lowest 3 in the league. Some of us will feel a higher degree of relief if the "ship is righted" sooner rather than later. We know this offense is capable of more and we are impatient to see it, that's all.

We have had a very soft schedule so far. NE was a quality win.

The reality is that the Broncos have been winning games by the skin of their teeth (Defense) against the weakest part of their schedule. Now, we're approaching the meat of the schedule.

What are you guys basing this on? 3 of 5 games have been against 4-2 or 4-1 teams. Before the NE game, people were saying we would be 1-3 after them and Baltimore because those were tough teams and would prove it. We won both of those games by 10 points.

We do have tough games coming up in Indy, Pitt, SDx2, Sea, Cinn, but also have games against Oak, SF, AZ, Cle. That is a 6:4 ratio, which is exactly the same as the 3:2 ratio of tough:easy that we have played so far. I don't think you can honesty say the schedule has been very weak to this point. Other than the Raiders, the other 4 are 13-5 in other games, so what is the basis for saying the schedule has been so weak?

The obvious answer is that is adds to the argument that our team is not good and will be exposed once they start playing good teams, but it doesn't seem to hold up to the facts.

The Chiefs were playing castarated. The Rams should be 2-4, at best 3-3. The Ravens just got destroyed by the Panthers, barely beat the Browns, and could've/should've have lost to the Chargers. The Raiders are the worst team in the NFL.

We are all holding our breath every time Jake drops back thinking to our selves if not saying it out loud, "Don't fk up" or something to that measure. It seems like Mike Shanahan is on the same page. Our playcalling is pathetic because our QB is. It's got to change, or we will start losing.

As Slap stated first, and anyone with any expertise in the NFL knows, the river of redzone turnovers that has been responsible for 3 of our 4 wins will dry up eventually, and Jake will be forced to win games with his QB skills. That's like asking a Chimp to be President.

"Impatience is the hobgoblin of little minds" - George Washington. Don't argue with me, you're arguing with George.

Just kidding, I made that up. But nevertheless . . . . . ..

That's a belly-laugh. 56 first downs by the pass, 24 by rush.

I hate to defend the Broncos but you don't get wins in the NFL on accident. Thats just not how things work. There are not any easy games. Sometimes you win one you shouldn't sometimes you lose ones you shouldn't. IMO we stole one from the Cards when they played better than us but we should have beat the Broncos because we played better that day. I believe things have a way of evening themselves out like that. "This team SHOULD BE..." type talk seems silly. The line between winning and losing is so minuscule...there are not a lot of team that are not a couple plays away from losing a few games.

It always stuck with me...a coach of mine once said "You never as good as you think you are and you are never as bad as you think you are."

Has your offense struggled and will Jake's troubles sneak up and bite you in the ass? IMHO yes.

That doesn't give less validation to the fact that out of 5 games in the NFL you have won four of them. This is a good team.

Do you EVER have anything to offer besides ad hominem attacks and factually incorrect opinions?

I especially like the 2 point "just got destroyed" Panthers game by the Ravens. Your posts are very much like the GOP disinformation campaign in both arrogance and "truthiness".

I have found football talk this season on CP to be off the deep end...I don't partake in it as much...more of a reader of people I know throw out good discussion.

I haven't had as much time these days for BB stuff as much. Not really a bad thing though.

Plastics and batteries. Sort of like the stick batteries the old makita drills use. Its for a german vacuum cleaner. What my partner and I really want to do is get into converting cars over to electric power.

you're wasting your breath on this guy. Do yourself a favour and breeze past posts by freak and maven and labronx, as they're not even legal drinking age combined.

Note how much more tolerable the board then becomes.

I don't think we're a bad team. I think overall, we're a very good team. But I agree. I think Jake's problems are going to sneak up on us... Except "sneak up" isn't exactly how I'd phrase it. I think they'll sneak up on us like a muttering hobo stumbling around clanging pots and pans after a bottle of piss wine hooch.

To sneak up, don't you have to be expecting otherwise? We were snuck up on in the Steelers game. Since then his problems have been omni-present. No, nobody is surprised here.

Maybe they will. If they do, we've got a blue chip prospect in waiting. In the meanwhile, we're 4-1. Great time to be a Broncos fan, even if a lot a few malcontents around here don't think so. (See Sig)

Did anyone watch the Mike Shanahan show just now? Dave Logan asked Mike how Jake has played thus far. He was predictably political at first, but toward the end said some interesting things. He said that he didn't like how he played the second half of last game, that he was ok during the Ravens game, though he liked the fourth quarter. When asked about Jake specifically he said "well we missed some opportunities and we need to be more consistant. We have some guys getting open, which is good, but we need to put it all together."

Oh look, this is exactly what ive been talking about. Even the coach agrees, damn i need to get paid to do this. ;D
