Cant post the link since its ESPN insider but they do the matchups and a couple of things I thought interesting...

QB edge Baltimore. (Even if you ask me)
RB edge Denver (yes)
WR edge Denver (yes)
OL edge Denver (yes)
DL edge Baltimore (yes)
LB Even (Yes) (interesting since Ray Ray gets all that hype, that they call it even)
DB edge Baltimore (no)
ST edge Baltimore (yes)
Coach Edge Denver (yes)
Overall edge Denver (yes)
----------------------------------------END ESPN Insider stuff----------------------------
I think we got the edge in DB. They got McCallister and Reed true, but we got Champ and Williams whom (regardless of Mediator's rantings) is touted as one of the best young CBs in the league, plus Lynch and Ferguson while not heralded as great safeties, are very good. Both can stop the run extremely well and Ferguson has played remarkably well in pass coverages this year. Once again< TEs do not fare well against Denver, I do not expect that to change.

First, take the under. At 33.5 its not going to get close to that. The top two red zone defenses are taking the field this Monday Night. Both are top 5 in points allowed and both are top 5 in third down defense.

We might be able to generate good pressure since their starting LG is out for the season now and our DTs are playing pretty well. Chukwurah off the edges should be able to create some trouble for McNair. If we can find a way to sneak DJ and Gold off the edges in on some third and long blitzes I think we have a really good chance at causing McNair to go Plummer on us - in a bad way.

If our Defense plays up to par we wont abandon our run game no matter how lackluster it looks against that very stout run defense of Baltimore's. We will rarely go 3 straight pass attempts in a single series, but may go three or four in a row on consecutive series if its working and we find a mismatch. I think Sheffler who has gotten a lot of one on one instruction this past week, is going to be a huge part of the gameplan in some fashion to exploit some mismatch Shanny might have seen. McCallister looks to be on Javon which will give Rod and Kircus some breathing room to move the sticks.

I think we keep them out of the end zone and only give up a couple of FGs in thsi game. Meanwhile I think we will find a way to get in the endzone and top it off with a couple of FGs.

My prediction: 13-6 Denver.

Thats what I thought. Should be even but the "Insiders" thought it was Balimore's edge.

I think I would give the edge to Baltimore in the backfield based on experience. They have Rolle and Chris McAlister both very good veteran CB. Reed is the best Safety in the league.

Champ is better then either Raven CB, but the same can not be said of either DWill or Foxworth. Both have talent but are relatively inexperience compare Chris Mac and Rolle.

Great post Alec!

You know I finally watched the tivo'd Ravens/Chargers game and let me say right now that Ray Lewis sucks. He was blocked on just about every play, he falls down on most plays and is immediately eliminated from any kind of pursuit and on four different occations he jumped onto alreay tackled players and jumped around like he made the catch. I was surprised he wasn't called for an UR penalty. I coverage he didn't look all that impressive either. I under stand that Lorenzo Neal is a great fullback and so that has something to do with it, but the guy was being blocked on most plays. I couldn't get over how many times he fell down, either. Other guys were blocked but they kept their feet enough to break out and make tackles at least.

Ray Lewis is not the guy we need to worry about. Their other linebackers are better tackler's, and their edge rusher's are good.

Their interior line is crap. The Chargers used a series of Cut blocks to neutralize their bull rush eearly on and after that they were getting six, seven yards right up the gut. It was cake. They just went right up inside and the safeties were making a lot of tackles that game. The problem is Marty played Marty ball and he'd rush twice for rour yards a run and then on third and short, they would blitz the snot out of Rivers and he couldn't handle it. Plummer will be able to.

On their secondary, Ed Reed was out of possition on a couple of plays and still takes poor angles. I know people say "OMG he 1n73rce9ts teh 8@Ll though!!!!111" Well he's a bit overrated.

My point is that the 4-3, especially against their interior line, will allow us to make some nice runs and we all know how that opens things up. I hope that Mike Bell gets a bit more work since we'll need a more pound-it back to get the nasty yards. Bottom line is I wasn't impressed with the Ravens last Sunday...at home, no less.

I still don't think Denver has the edge in RB. Hell Tatum couldn't beat out Mike anderson, and he's a backup in baltimore.

Anderson is a back-up to the back-up. Musa Smith is the one getting the carries in the two hole now

That Bart Scott dude looks like the real deal. I wonder how long it will be before he displaces Ray Ray as the man in B-more.

Also, did you see Scott running back the Int? At one point he was running next to Ray Ray. Scott looks like a safety next to him, like a good 20 or 30 lbs lighter.

Also, that TD that SD got was from a corner TOTALLY biting on the pump - and getting no secondary help (from Reed). With any luck, we can exploit that also.

I like our chances. As I said before the season started, there isnt a game on the schedule that I looked at and said, "Wow, no way we can win that game." This will be tough, cuz the Ravens seem to have our #, but we have the talent to win at home on Monday nite.

Three or four years ago, Id have agreed with you on Rolle, when he was a Titan he was one of the best CBs in the game but he is long past those days.

I think he is about on par with D Will or Foxworth. His experience helps him but he no longer has the ability that Williams has, maybe has Foxworth's abilities.

Rolle isn't what he once was but he is having a good year. The Baltimore corners seem to get suckered a lot with the double moves and biting on pump fake, so hopefully Plummer can take advantage of that.

I have not watched them much this year but if this is true....Id have to say its prolly because they are used to the rush getting at the QB quick and forcing alot of quick short throws. If somehow we can protect Plummer there maybe something down the field this game.

I work with some die hard Raven fan- nice bet going for this Monday- and he the one that pointed that out to me. He actually calls Chris Mac the dumbest SOB in the game. It pump fakes and the double moves are what Frye and Rivers were successfully throwing against them. Also
Landy is rookie Safety and is having trouble defending over the top. Reed is playing close to the line to stop the run.

agreed Elsid. That TD pass last game was a very pretty double move that Chris just fell down on. LOL

Walker should be able to do the same, we just gotta protect the QB.

Expect Nalen to use every dirty trick in the book on Ray Ray. I have the full expectation that this game is going to be one ugly affair. There is certainly no love lost here. A win would give up another tie breaker.

It's criminal to look past each week, but you know damn well that Shanahan is allready studying Manning for an inevitable showdown with Pretty Boy Manning on the eve of all hallows eve. Donning pumpkin heads can wait a few weeks.

the other thing I would Denver to do this week, is start the game in 3 WR look with Rod playing in the slot. That should spread the Raven D out and open the running lanes for the Bells and give Rod the advantage of working against Raven nickleback.

This game is all going to come down to whether we can effectively run the ball with Tiny Tatum and if we can get a few big plays in the passing game with Walker, Smith and Scheffler. Then it is up to our defense.

This is a season changing game. IF we can exercise these demons, I feel pretty good about going into Pittsburgh and having Indy at home, we could reel off some huge wins heading into KC at the end of November and facing SD twice in a month. HUGE for us.

The whole Monday night thing scares me because it seems like every Monday night game Denver comes out kinda nervous and caught up in the hype and it takes a quarter or so for us to settle down and play our game. When it's a Monday night gig, it seems like our home field advantage (being comfortable and relaxed in our house) is negated by all the hype - at least for a quarter or so.

I think we'll win this win. We could lose, but there are a lot of things in our favor:

1. I like our defense agains their offense. I think we'll have no trouble shutting them down.

2. I think we have the tools to rush the ball up the gut. Their interior line is week and Ray Lewis isn't playing well.

3. Our offense is starting to come together. We'll see a better offense this Monday as more players will be on the same page and Jake and Javon are finally building chemistry.

Intagibles:

1. We're coming off of a bye. We'll be rested, healthy and have had time to prepare.

2. Shanahan usually wins games with more than a week of preparation and is undefeated at home in such games. One of those wins was the Ravens.

3. The Ravens are coming off of an emotional win at home and two that they squeezed out at the last minute. It's generally harder to try and summon that kind of emotion three weeks in a row, even if it is Moday night. We'll be getting a less angry Ravens team.

4. A lot of teams are talking them up right now and telling them they're good. That can spell disaster if you start listening to it. I hope they believe the hype because it is usually at that point that you fall on your face.

5. If we win, this will be Mike's tenth Monday Night Football win. I hope the guys come out motivated to earn their coach a milestone.

6. We're at home. 'nough said. ;)

I give our DB's a slight edge. Reed is not a DB as somebody mentioned. Mac is a force but doesn't have the ball instincts that Champ has. The other side is a wash. Rolle is physical but he gets burned alot too, he gambles. Williams is a better cover guy the Rolle but is not as physical.

I think the Ravens DBs have a slight edge. In my opinion, Foxworth and Dwill have not proven very much at all this season. This might be the week it changes, though. I smell a pick6.

This game is going to be great. If its a defensive struggle like I think and hope it will be, the winner has "best D in the AFC" bragging rights. This is a spotlight game and it is time for Denver's D to shine.

I think that special teams will be the crux. If we have another pisspoor performance we will probably lose. Hopefully, Dwill can break a few returns longer than 10 yards.

I like Denver 17-9.

That was a disgusting choke job to witness. Marty literally threw the game away by taking the ball out of River's hands and going prevent whimp out!

The only redeeming thing out of the whole game was the fact that San Diego lost and Todd Heap scored the last TD for two of my FF teams.

I bet we INT McNair at least 3 times this game. .. I dislike the Raven's more than any other NFL team.

This is the year we put that Raven curse over us to bed for good!
