View Full Version : Just for Fun....Ravens Schedule

Just for fun I took a look at the Raven Schedule to date and also took a look at their opponents schedule:
They have beat Tampa Bay.....(0-3)
Oakland .......(0-3)
Cleveland......(1-3) (by 1) only win is against 0-3 Oakland
San Diego.....(2-1) only wins against 0-3 Oak and 0-4 Tenn
I don't want to put a lot into this but it looks like a lot of nobodies beating a lot of nobodies....the teams that the Ravens have beat have played teams a combined are 0-10.....I know you have to win the games your supposed to win and all that but have they really been tested yet?

I don't know if I would say they are better than Chicago right now, but you can definitley argue that they are better than the Colts at the moment. Baltimore now has a great defense and an ok offense with a qb that will not lose games for you and can march down the field late in the 4th and win a game for you. While the Colts have a great offense as usual but looks like their D took a step back and other teams can run on the Colts(giving up 155 ypg 30th in the league)
Baltimore's schedule gets a lot tougher now. Starting late Nov. they have to play a Sunday game vs Pitt and then a Thursday at Cin. in the same week and then play December games on the road vs KC and Pitt

Yep!! Not afraid of them at all. :sunshine:
Yep - that's why I mentioned in another post I wasn't really concerned about this game at home. But at the same time, when you think about it, sometimes the league is very funny. We go in and spank NE in their home, then the next week they go in and spank the Bengals at their home. Sometimes it's just a funny thing. That's why I won't go ape **** here and say we win huge. I think their defense will keep our offense to about 300 total yards and maybe 13 points. I think we actually score on Defense in this game with a Champ pick. We hold them to only field goals and win 20-9.

As has been mentioned in some way already i'm sure, when we play Baltimore, funny things start to happen... except they are not "Ha Ha" funny. Let's just get out of this week with a win, i don't care if Jake does horrible and it brings up the controversy... we got Oakland next and he can take care of business then.

Be it at home or not, just like last year's Miami game, you have Jake on offense and going against a tough D. Baltimore has a good D and a better than average offense now with McNair. Look around, the HF advantage is not enough to get you thru games anymore.
That is always reason enough to be concerned.

I disagree. Having to win it in the waning moments week in and week out is not a good thing. In addition, the starting RG or LG for their offense is now out for the season. I'm thinking their offensive mediocrity will eventually be their downfall. Their defense? Is pretty damn good and will keep them in some games. I'm thinking though, defense in their case ultimately will not be enough...dman

No way on this. they barely pulled it out in Cleveland on a tough field goal with no time. San Diego shut down that offense. Their defense is good, but, their offense is mediocre at best. They should have handily beaten cleveland given their defensive prowess. I don't see them lasting the year given recent perfomances. Their luck will run out..dman

I agree with this. This game is going to be very tough and I don't like our OL matchup against their front 7 who are very active and aggressive.
There isn't going to be a whole lot there for us in terms of running the ball or the short passes.
But there are a couple of things that we could do:
1. Fire Screens to Tatum Bell and use their aggressiveness against them.
2. Run Bell outside on pitches and sweep plays.
3. Reintroduce the rollouts/bootlegs which will give Jake time in the pocket and cater to his strengths.
Honestly, I think it's going to be a very, very close game with a single turnover too many deciding the outcome.

No disrespect Dman, but I think you're looking at it the wrong way.
Their offense is only mediocre because Fassel etc haven't put too much pressure on McNair. They are only asking him to do the minimum which is play mistake free ball, largely because they have a solid defense, but also because McNair is still new to that offense and they have issues in pass protection so he isn't asked to throw downfield or carry the offense.
With weapons like Clayton, Derrick Mason, and Todd Heap that offense has the potential to be explosive and if our DL can't put pressure on them early then I can see them trying to open it up and let loose in the 2nd half because when they put the offense on McNair at the end of the chargers game he responded.
They're parallel to what our offense went through the last two weeks actually.

I agree that having to win in the waning moments week after week is not a good thing, but I wasn't saying their offense was good. I was just saying that so far their D has given up only 8.3 pts and 219 total yds per game so they don't need a great qb that needs to put 30+ on the board every week and McNair has proved this year(the last 2 games) and years in the past that he can march the team down the field in order to win and will more than likely never lose a game for them like Boller would.
Yes they have played bad teams with a combined record of 3-9 and this might all change as the season goes on. But I for sure am not taking them lightly and I think right now they are being very conservative with the offense and need be can open it up a little bit more.

That's a good point! I forgot about that.
I hope you're right because I think McNair still has it in him to be pretty effective if giving the right pass protection. This should be a game where Warren earns the big money contract he just signed this offseason. I would stunt him around, even put in Lang or Ekuban inside against the backup Guard to overmatch him. It's not too much to ask now is it!!

They could very well be holding McNair back until the offense jells a bit more. He hasn't been there too long and Fassel and McNair need to learn each other a bit.
Why else do they pull games out at the last minute this year ? They turn McNair loose, open the offense up when they have too. They are solid at HB,OB, TE and decent at WR's now...... that's enough horsepower tolight up a team.
Bet your sweet *ss Shanny isn't taking them light.

The problem with the Miami game was it was the first game of the
season, and was played in Miami. Miami chose to wear white and
forced the Denver team to wear their dark uniforms. As a result
the Denver players baked in the summer sun and had no strength
left to play. I don't know what the temperature will be in Denver
this Monday, but I would expect it to be a lot cooler than that
summer in Miami.

Baltimore plays hard nose agressive defense, and they also play smart defense. They will definitely commit to shutting down the run and make Jake try to beat them. The little crossing routes and slants for 5 yards will be taken away. Jake will have to complete some passes downfield to losen up that D and get them off the line. This is definitely a game where Jake is going to have to be agressive and not just "No Mistake Jake".
The Ravens offense doesn't scare me too much, except for Mason. I have watched all three (or atleast parts of all three) Ravens game and Mason looks like a decent threat. McNair hasn't made many mistakes, hopefully we can turn him over some and squeak a win out.

Jake will need to run a bit. the real money players wiill be the ST guys, especially the kicking game for field position. Elam is money. Ernster will either win or lose his position in this game.
To be honest, this is a game in which a guy like Cutler, with a gun for an arm, would be deadly. He can hit the TE or RBs going down the middle on the run and that would make Reed work a bit and keep him off the line. As it is, I think Plummer can do some of the things needed to win, mostly run.

One of the reasons why that was true, is because McAllister is one of those guys that has had some success in shutting down Rod Smith.
With Walker/Kircus around this year, hopefully Plummer can take advantage of our multiple WRs.

If the Broncos are up 52-0 on the Ravens I am not satisfied until the teams leave the stadium and even them I'm a little worried. Dude! It's the Ravens!
This team has a Freddy Krueger like hold over the Broncos. Remember when everyone wanted the Steelers to come to Denver because we had a home field advantage? Steelers and Ravens are cousins. This game might be just a little bigger than that. Do not discount this game.
What is the one game the PLAYERS watch? It's the Monday night game. Why? Well...it's their day off? Which game do they talk trash about all year?
I can promise you two things. Broncos are not going to play four quarters of football against this team. They won't until they find Billick's voodoo doll. Secondly this is a swing game. This is kind of for all the marbles because watch what happens later in the season to the guy who wins and then again to the guy who loses.
Ravens season is in the balance and as far as myself personally am concerned Broncos have not BEATEN anybody yet. Show me something. No matter which teams loses they will downplay it. Don't get conned.
We are in for some good football but if the Broncos don't find some key players to reach that next level it's giong to show fast.
