Everyone can pick the big time school players, wonder what "hidden" gems you came across that you would like to see Denver take a late game flier on.

I have two right now:

Brian Leonard | RB/FB Rutgers- think Mike Alsott that is willing to block.

And Garrett Wolfe = RB NUI, very small but could be great returner

A couple of guys at Nevada that are worth watching - QB Jeff Rowe and RB Robert Hubbard.

Dan Bazuin DE - Central Michigan

Doug Free - OT N. Illinois

Wesley Smith - S Memphis

Well, outside Smith I'd say those are all first-day prospects. . . so I don't think there would be a chance at them going late unless they'd slip.

I did not see Row and Hubbard listed.

Yep - he would be on the list of "smaller school"players, but he is well known to the scouts.

Well, I figure most people havent seen him play so I figured he'd be a "little known player" and he plays a position we need to look for help in.

Speaking of Bama WRs, I'd like to snag Tommy Prothro. I don't know if he is recovered from his leg injury, but I don't really care. We can steal him in the late rounds and throw him on the IR for a year.

He was great before he got hurt. I haven't heard anything about his recovery.

CJ Wallace, S, Washington

He's definitely the team defensive leader. He's a similar build to Fergy, just a tad bigger. He definitely knows how to support the run and he's adept at bringing down backs in the hole. I'd guestimate that he's a late round/FA type right now...

Isaiah Stanback, QB, Washington

Amazing physical specimen. Elite athlete with track speed, but definitely not a legit QB prospect. He did however play WR a few years ago and I think he averaged about 16 YPC. Great size for a receiver (6-3, 215), and I'd say he's a better WR-convert than the recent batch (McNeal, Hagan, etc).

Sean Douglas, P, UW

Huge leg. Averages 42.6 YPP. Always up for special-teamer of the week honors...

As you can see, my scouting abilities are quite diverse and thorough. Up next, UW waterboys...

Didn't he get hurt again?

I tend to think that the majority of low key players that we should be talking about are positions on the team that are more than likely going to need to be addressed in the offseason.

So i think we should forget about QB, WR, LB, CB, and maybe TE(although a true big blocking TE would be valuable.

I think Denver should look at S, DL, OL(you can never have enough of these guys) and i would say RB, but i tend to think that unless Tatum makes it through the year injury free, with 1500yards and over 10td's Denver will be looking for a top flight runner in the draft or a big time back already in the league.(Quite possibly what Denver may ask for when time comes to trade Plummer)

I saw about a half hour of Marshall/Central Florida tonight. Both running backs had some nice runs but the kid from Marshall, Bradshaw I think, looked like someone to take a serious look at.

I agree with OL DL S but, you never know what Denver will do. If this draft is weak I could see us do another trade for 08 #1. Hopefully we can spend money on OL DL S in FA in 07 I'll need the cap guru's to figure out our cap situation in 07.

I'll throw out a homer choice. Abraham Wright, DE from CU has been a lone bright spot for the buffs. He has 9 sacks so far this season, good for 2nd in the nation. At 6'3" 255 he's a bit undersized but he could be a good 3-4 OLB. He has been dominant this year and showed flashes last year while battling injuries. His workout/combine numbers will go a long way in determining where he's drafted.

Just to follow up on CJ Wallace:

He's ranked 3rd among SS prospects in PFW's Pro Prospect Preview. Very surprising to me, given his team's sucktitude and his apparent lack of "stand out" plays.

Aggressive downhill box Safety who will level ballcarriers and deliver some decleaters. Seeks out contact and looks to destroy blockers that get in his way. Plays with intent to hurt and violence is noticeable in his game. Very secure tackler. Shows nice awareness in zone coverage but does not show great transitional quickness, range or man cover skills and is a little tight hipped. As the best safety to come out of Washington since Tony Parrish, Wallace has the defensive temperament to play with the big boys.

He's a player I fully expect to stand out in postseason workouts because of his toughness and physicality. May be this years version of Anthony Smith/Roman Harper/Bernard Pollard...

Michael Griffin, safety, Texas. I don't know if he is "little known" enough, but I have watched him for a couple of years, and IMHO his range is impressive.

He is certainly not an unknown - Probably the second safety taken behind Landry. A little undersized - will measure at the combine at 5'10" and a fraction and 190 lbs.

Griffin would probably work best in a Tampa 2 type system, or a system that runs Cover 2 a whole lot. SoCal said we have ran Cover 2 quite a bit this year, but he'd be a pretty solid fit for some NFC teams like Minnesota, Tampa Bay and Philadelphia.

Thanks. If he slips to the early mid rounds, I wouldn't mind if we took a shot at him.

I think this qualifies as a little known player: D.D. Terry, RB, Sam Houston State

Terry is a converted LB who didn't switch to RB until this past summer, making him somewhat of an unknown even within the 1-AA community. Having watched him play, I am amazed that nobody noticed his immense potential at RB during his first three years in college. He's an explosive back who's capable of taking it to the house on any given carry. He also has pretty nice size. He's listed at 6-2, 192, and he has the toughness that comes with being a former LB. Through 7 games he has 877 yards for an average of 125 per game. His average per carry is 6.3. His totals would be much higher if not for beign badly underutilized in several games.

The obvious knocks on him will be his lack of collegiate experience at RB, the competition, and the fact that he plays in a spread offense, all making it harder to project him as a pro. Other criticisms might be that he runs a little upright, and he's not the quickest guy in the world. But if you're looking for a sleeper at RB, this is definitely someone to consider. I expect his stock to rise after the combine, where he should put up a good 40 time, but even so he could be had with a very late draft pick or possibly signed as an UFA.

im in the boat for johnnie lee higgins, WR, UTEP. speedy and elusive, decent hands, would be a very good slot receiver IMO. 4.3ish speed

There are a few WRs that I'd like to see, but I think we are OK there for now. JW, Rod, Marshall, Kircus and the dude from Akron who is hurt right now. I'd be surprised if we go WR. if we do, I want Meachem (if he comes out). I'm a UT fan, but dude is HUGE and can ball. Very good speed and playmaking ability. Dunno if we could land him w/ Wash's early 3rd, but I'd be happy if we tried.

nice pick, im not a big fan of lynch, i think he will have character issues plus the running of nash and bell today just proved that there is no need for a pricey RB. ryan harris sounds like a good prospect and who knows what will happen with the age of meadows and current status of foster. i dont know much about mebane but if he is a pass rushing DT, that sounds great we need push up the middle from both gaps. our DEs are better than our DT2. id be ok with ekuban lang and dumervil, they have been more than serviceable this year. i see us probably splitting the DLine draft, one on day one, one on day two. i see us taking a safety and maybe a backup QB, someone like drew tate or chris leak. smart, somewhat mobile QBs who would be dependable backups for cheap.
