I'm going to laugh when the Chiefs defense still sucks.
And now I laugh at you!
Today, we served notice that the defense has returned to Kansas City. We DOMINATED the #4 offense in the NFL.
I completely lost control of my faculties when The Red Knight jumped in front of an Alex Smith pass and picked it clean.
Later on, our sparkling free agent acqusition of the offseason, Ty Law, grabbed his first interception as a Chief, deftly reading the receiver and stepping in front to pick off a slant pass.
And did I mention that Tamba Hali harrassed Alex Smith all day long with 1.5 sacks? Another great draft pick. Derrick Johnson, otherwise known as the best DJ In The AFC West, also chipped in with 1.5 sacks.

I watched that game and most of the "plays" his defense made were just bad play by the Niners. They threw into coverage, their players were often not on the same page and they just played bad. They played a bad team on their bad day.

Ha, I don't know what the future holds but anytime you shut out an NFL team and score 41 points it is a good day at the office...and with a starting QB and Tackle missing? This team is finding its identity.
10 qtrs of football have passed since this defense gave up a touchdown...
The pass protection was great. This SF team has gotten 12 sacks in its first 3 games. Today? Not sacked and barely hurried.
On the flipside SF has only allowed 4 sacks in 3 games...the Chiefs got 5 today.
I don't know what the future holds for this team but I can't wait to see more. Go Chiefs.

It was evident after the denver game that KC had an improved defense.Although i held out judgement because i thought shanahan held back and tried not to show bellicheck to much because he knew he was facing a team with a backup quarterback.
That being said it looks like the tides have turned in KC, yes its early but it looks like KC is FINALLY turning the page on the defensive side of the ball.

good post. you have a sense of reality unlike bob. i would be very happy with the win if i were you but would stay grounded since it was the 9ers. lets put it this way, as a bronco fan, it wasnt comforting to see that game today, im not terrified because of that showing but it does show some potential that hopefully isnt unleashed again.

To be honest with you a series of games have made me feel good about this team. And it stems from the Bronco game.
I was pretty impressed with the NE win. I didn't think you guys had it in you.
With the win we had today. Coupled with the great performance in Denver. Going to OT in your house with Huard? No TDs given up? Flip of the coin? And then looking at how you guys played in NE which is even more impressive with the way NE played Cincy today.
I don't have a crystal ball but this is a good team that has been rocked by losing its starting QB. They are finding their identity and gelling...

Hard to ignore someone when every single ****ing thread he posts in gets turned into a discussion about the Chiefs and half the board basically consists of his drivel. The Mane is better off without him.
Thereīs 2 options IMO. Bob understands that this isnīt Chiefs planet and when he wants to talk about the Chiefs, he goes there ... or the admin has to take action. He ruins the board.

Question of the day: How badly will Gunther's defense rape Matt Leinart?
Fun fact: The 49ers were the #4 offense in the national football league before facing the mighty juggernaut known as the Kansas City Chiefs.
Arizona's D = Yeah, I'm real impressed.
Rams D = And?
Eagles = They were down so huge in the first half, they passed the rest of the game.
Stuff like that inflates your stats because basically, the other team is in prevent zone, while you're passing every down
Put it like this, since they were #4.............if you had to pick 5 teams offenses to play with, would SF crack your top 5?

The ONLY thing the mullets proved today was that at home, they could beat the worse team in the league. The mullets may well have put themselves in position to get Brady Quinn. SF will get #1, and the mullets will get #2, and the 9ers will probably take a Dman.
Almost all "good" plays by the mullets was the result of a pi$$-poor 9er play or lack of a play.
What a completely boring game.

True their defense seems to have improved but come on they beat worse team in their own house. I'm not sure what that really tells us about them.
As I have told many planteers,
We played poorly against Cincy ........
We caught a struggling Denver offense.........
We played a poor SF team .......
But I can see a better D out there. Hali is by far head and shoulders better than Hicks. The LB's are better after having another year in Gun's scheme. The CB's and safties are better than last year as a whole.
Again, how much better they get is how far KC goes this year. We still have issue's at QB, OL and now backup RB.

It amuses me how easily so many of you get sandy with a bob post. The
hate of all things Chiefs would be funnier concerning bob if he were the only
one to start a post on the subject. Locals have started them in his absense(honoring a bet...higher character than some here). Instead of drooling and spitting on yourselves
when you see an opposing fan post....maybe just try engaging in legit conversation from time to time.
Anyone being honest with themselves knows the Chiefs D is improved.
Allen and Hali are pressuring the QB, the LBs are playing well, and the Chiefs are pretty good 4 deep at corner. The Safety play has improved, but still has room to grow. Jarrod Page, a late round draft pick could be starting and is doing a great job in spot play.
The biggest D weakness so far has been DT, which vs Denver didn't provide enough pressure, giving plummer a pocket to step into and throw. This week, vs a decent Oline, they had more pressure, and Smith was hit Alot.
It sounds like Dalton is on the way out....Steve Williams from nwmsu has a good motor and did well in his first showing today.
The Chicago D the Chiefs are not.....but they're very much improved....like it or not. The Bengals are supposed to be a top Offense, Denver is supposed to be a good Offensive team and the 9ers were top 5 through week 3.
they are the niners of today, I am surprised that kc needed a defense at all

You are right..the Chiefs Defense IS better...however, it reamins to be seen HOW much better. We won't really know until close to the end of the season, which will probably be later for Denver fans than KC fans.
Actually having Trent Green down ( and I hope he receovers soon) may actually accelerate the process of revamping your offense, by necessity.
The Chiefs would have tried to rely on the offense too long...Now that time frame has been changed and the offense is going to full rebuild mode earlier...so the defensive adjustments will be stressed even more.
Huard may be your QB for the next year or two, with that rebulilding O-line.
Good luck , except when you play us.

It means he had 1.5 sacks, a forced fumble on the QB, multiple other QHs, and also a couple holding penalties called on O-linemen that were unable to block him. Hali was in Smith's face all day.

I'm not going to lie. The Broncos' defense has not had as good of a start as the Cheifs'. I mean, Kansas City's has allowed a mere 277.0 yards per game, opposed to Denver's 322.0.
This does not shake my belief that Denver's defense is the vastly superior one.
How come it is that winning 41-0 against the 49ers is an impressive feat all of the sudden? I'm just curious.

Oh, alright. It was a a well-played game, and I had actually bought into the 49ers for a while there.
However, if we beat the same 49ers last game of the year with the same score, it isn't going to appear to be that big of a deal.
You're right though, it was a great performance by the Cheifs. I was more responding to Bob's line "We DOMINATED the #4 offense in the NFL." as if he were claiming that because after 3 weeks of play, they had the 4th best stats means that they are the 4th best offense, which is isn't even close.

The Chiefs had a defense that held the Broncos to 2fgs in regulation, on the road just 2 weeks ago. The same defense held a pretty good Cinci Offense to respectable numbers, and kept 85 out of the endzone in week 1.
This week, facing pretty good wrs and a solid Rb on the road is a test, but its starting to look like a trend.

The Chiefs D is improved - who cares!!!
You are getting swept this year by us and SD, split with Oakland, and will miss the playoffs yet AGAIN.
Side note: I'm glad the Chief's coaching staff are absolute morons. Since I have LJ on my fantasy team, I much appreciated seeing him still in the game in the fourth during a blowout. I saw an early stat with LJ at 20 carries and 30 something yards - whole new topic there - up by 4 or 5 scores. I thought, crap, LJ is gonna get pulled with little fantasy value to that point, but to my pleasure and Chiefs coach idiocy, LJ was still in the game for the duration. I got my 100 yards, 2 scores, and Bob got his stats.
Seriously what is up with this:
3-5-KC16 (2:32 remaining 4th qtr) L.Johnson up the middle to KC 18 for 2 yards (M.Douglas).
That dude is your franchise. Why is he still in the game - not bitching - he's winning fantasy games for me, but are your coaches that stupid, no backups, what is the deal. Don't tell me you weren't sitting on the couch yelling to pull the starters after a 41 point lead, or 34 point lead. Herm is an idiot. Good luck with that.

I'm not here to flame at all.. Hell, I read this site for Chiefs and AFC West info just because I like to hear some outside opinions and have no problem being respectful about the fact that your team is 2-1 and looked very solid in their last game against the Pats- which given their play vs Cincy is quite impressive.
Truth be told, I don't think many here feel KC is a team that is that sorry. They had a poor gameplan against Cincy and lost the starting QB. Adjustments in line play, QB prep, and an OC calling his 1st game = a lackluster start.
However, their play in Denver was surprising, and I think anyone with half a brain would say they were a bit shocked by a 9-6 finish in OT given the history of the series in the box by the rocks. I can see why we put the clamps on our passing game a bit, but for Shanny to do that at home vs the horrible Chiefs D should be a bit of a signal.
I'm not putting too much stock in a blowout over San Fran, but it does bode well in the direction of this team. Like I said. Teams have to make adjustments and given the number of offseason variable the Chiefs had progress and improvement should be fun to watch.
I'm fully expecting a solid win over the Cards on Sunday, and then the Pittsburgh game will be a better indicator of how far this team has come. A win in Pittsburgh would mean something.
Once again, if only you could play in the NFC and cruise a bit.

No. You guys are bad. You gave up three TDs, one dropped, to a rookie and got owned by 44+ points. That's not a bump in the road, that's a tectonic fault line.

Are you insane? Have you seen our defense?
Jake the Fake has NO CHANCE at Arrowhead.
If Big Ben can put up Godly numbers on your " incredible " Defense than its not a stretch that Jake can do the same. I mean, both Ben and Jake are game managers. Hilarious!

Guys, get a clue. We have played better defensive football this year against more talented offensive teams. This was just a hiccup. San Diego has more offensive talent and they will not score so much as 21 next week.

SD could throw 51 on us next week if we play this way again.
I say Herm chews a little butt, we hold them to 48 instead .

No. As much as I wish otherwise, the Bolts should lose in narrowhead. Schottenheimer makes Herm look like Mike Martz in his agressive play calling. I'm pretty sure Herm has a good record against the Boltz. I hope you guys beat them because it will give us a good lead for the AFC West.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONTHER!

I really don't see myself being disappointed. Top ten, huh? In the NFL? Are monkeys on spaceships going to fly out of your ass, too? I guess I really shouldn't second guess your bold predictions, though. Like, um, KC beating PIT 20-13? Cuz I heard the score was 45-7...

KC now ranked
#11 overall
#10 in scoring defense
#15 in run defense
#13 in pass defense
Not bad. We're ascending week to week. This certainly isn't a Vermeil defense.
