With six roto leagues going down to the wire today, I hardly even looked at the NFL this week.
I wound up making two strong plays and a bunch of little ones.
San Diego -1 @ Baltimore - NFL road warriors will stomp Baltimore today. Ravens defense is overrated and the offense is a joke.
Indy -7.5 @ NYJ - Jets secondary is weak and Peyton will light them up after being suppressed by Jax last week. Number dropped from Indy -9 early in the week.
Those are my two main plays, I also decided to makes small parlays on these games:
Buffalo -1.5 Vs Minny - Too much MacGahee.
Cincy -5.5 Vs NE - Patriots will not be able to hang with that offense.
Cleveland -1.5 @ Oakland - Are the Raiders really this bad? Probably a sucker bet.
Saints +7.5 @ Carolina - Probably another sucker bet since NO is coming off an emotional Monday Night win and a short week. They're won five of six in Carolina, though, and the Panthers defense misses Dan Morgan badly.
Sea @ Chi Over 34.5 - I think Alexander being out is a plus, as Seattle will be forced to air it out. Both defenses are more of the ballhawking than smothering variety, so I'm looking for short fields or a defensive score.
Green Bay +11.5 @ Philly - Too many points. The Packers will secure a backdoor cover late.

Catching some hellish luck in my leagues. I'm going to lose that Diamond league by one point, based on a few hundredths of percentage points in ERA and WHIP.
I'm going to lose another by a similar margin in batting average.

The nice thing about roto is there's a lot of legal, but nasty ways to extract revenge on someone you hate once you drop out of the race.

I rolled the dice on him in the first round the last time I played fantasy hockey. He repaid me by winning the scoring title with 106 points and putting up a ridiculous +52 for the season. I'm willing to gamble on him again. Besides, I've got a couple of young bucks (McDonald & Bergeron) to fill in if/when he's out of the lineup.

Different league. This one's on CBS and the trade hasn't been rejected, it's just got an objection from a little prick who made a few enemies on draft day.
The draft room on CBS was completely screwed up and Slap ended up having Forsberg autopicked for him in round 2 when he intended to take Sakic. I ended up taking Sakic and Slap offered me deal to swap the two. Being the Forsberg homer that I am, how could I say no? I'm willing to gamble on greatness because it's worked for me in the past. :)

Ok, I'll send you some $ if they lose, just check your email box.
I did pretty well taking all teams coming out of the bye last week. But I made some late bets taking the Saints/Bucs under, and that fkd me back to even for the week.
Bengals out of the bye should have a nice week vs the Bucs offensively, and they create alot of TOs, and are facing a rookie QB. But that rookie did look pretty good last week. AFC vs NFC and the bye though, and I'm liking the Bengals by 6.
Right now the Broncos are -14.5, that's a half point to high for me to bet right now.

Just received this when logged into my paradise poker account today. I used my poker money to wager through their sportsbook (Not anymore):
"US Gaming Legislation Information
Unfortunately, on Friday October 13th President Bush is expected to sign into law the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006. The legislation is designed to restrict Americans from being able to fund their online poker accounts and in doing so to prevent Americans from participating in one of their national past times. Full details of the legislation can be found on pages 213-234 at the following link: http://www.rules.house.gov/109_2nd/text/hr4954cr/hr49543_portscr.pdf
Paradise Poker, as part of the SportingBet PLC group of companies, is publicly traded on the London Stock Exchange and is obligated to act in accordance with the new legislation. After much deliberation, our Legal Team has advised that in order to comply with the new legislation Paradise Poker will be required to stop accepting deposits from all US players. In addition we will no longer be able to offer US players the ability to transfer funds to each other using the ‘Send Money To Player’ function or to transfer funds to Sportsbook.com.
Please be assured that all US customers will continue to be able to access their accounts and submit cashout requests as normal. Although we will no longer be able to accept their additional deposits, to ensure a professional wind-down for our US customers, they will continue to be able to play at our real money tables with the funds they already have on deposit at Paradise until November 13th 2006. The only players that will not be able to continue playing at our real money tables are players located in one of the following states, where some form of online gambling legislation already exists:
Utah
Hawaii
Michigan
Indiana
Oregon
Nevada
Washington
Illinois
Louisiana
South Dakota
Please note that all players will no longer have access to our casino products or sports betting products. Any Paradise Poker players that have open bets at Sportsbook.com will have the bets cancelled and the funds, along with any other funds held at Sportsbook, transferred back to Paradise Poker. The funds will be transferred back to Paradise Poker within 12 hours.
We very much regret the unfortunate environment in the United States that has prompted us to take these steps. Should there be any positive changes regarding the legal landscape, we will certainly inform players immediately.
For those interested, we recommend visiting http://www.pokerplayersalliance.org/ , a group that has been organized to represent the rights and interests of American poker players.
We thank you very much for your patronage over the years and remain hopeful that the day will come when the U.S. will join much of the rest of the world in recognizing the sense behind regulating, rather than the prohibiting online poker."

How did you do last weekend, Freak6? Looks like you had a lot of good picks. And what website do you use for your bets? You get a lot better payouts on parlays than I do.
I pretty much broke even Gonzo. I had some great picks, but these moronic professional gamblers I watched sunday morning were unanimously saying take the Saints/Buc under, so I wagered that into some parlays, and it went over by like 4 pts. If that had hit I would've had a huge week.
I use bodog right now, but I pulled all my money out because of the legislation being signed. But it looks like everything is cool, I think it might have a 1 year wait or something.
USC just threw a pick 6. Wow. Tied up.
Last week was the best week to bet in I've seen in years. And I still only broke even, stupid professional gamblers.
I am going to bet the Broncos tommorow, and the bengals, in a parlay, and seperately.
I'm still using 5 dimes as my sportsbook and the bets went thru with no problem and I recieved a message from PacificPoker (888.com) where I play for real money. They said that the only thing they will no longer be able to do for US customers is except deposits but you will be able to continue to play with money you already have deposited with them and can still withdraw your money at anytime. So I should be set. I have a descent amount in both places. I just gotta keep winning :) You could also open an account if need be with a Canadian bank and transfer money that way. Where there's a will there's a way.

Man, if there was ever a time to go broke on a bet, its Denver-14.5 VS Oakland. Oakland might be the worst NFL team in history. And they are coming off their worst practice of the season!! Randy Moss trade rumors. Porter's suspension. What?
Almost seems too good to be true.
I hate the NFL.

I see no reason not to keep fading Stanford all year long.
It was my fortune that I laid off everything last week or I would have been against them the one time they covered this year.......

I know what you mean. When I'm in a slump, I feel like posting the picks is just jinxing myself.
You know what's really sad? I almost took those fools -9.5 in the first half and that would have squeaked out another three team parlay for me.

Arizona laying only three to Oakland? Wow.
That number should go up, but the Raider faithful out here might have taken heart from their cover last week.
AZ has traditionally been roadkill over the years, but I figure they'll cover whatever number they hang on this game with relative ease.

That bet looked so good. I'm honestly still in shock at what happened, just taking our foot off the gas like that.
Didn't go so great last week. The Bengals should have bailed me out but they let a score near the end. Oh well, this is what I got this week so far. Just one small parlay which if it hits I can recoup last week plus 100.00...
Football - 209 San Diego Chargers -5 -110 for Game

I won with the under on the Texas/Nebraska game and I faded Stanford successfully again. Unfortunately I took Colorado +14 and finished 2-1 on the day.
Today I've got a couple parlays:
GB +6
NE -5.5
Pit -2.5
Den -4.5
NYJ/Det Over 41.5
AZ/Oak Over 39.5

6-3 last week.
13-3-1 in college and well over 60% in the pros. This has been my best season since 2000. Still lots of games left to call, though.
Pending line moves, these are tomorrow's plays:
Georgia Tech -6 Vs Miami
USC -12 @ Oregon State
Wyoming +6 @ TCU
Unfortunately, Stanford and Fresno State are idle, so I can't fade them again until next week. Rest assured, I'll be laying the chalk with USC and Boise State, regardless of the respective numbers.

Tennessee -3 Vs Houston - Vince Young will have his coming out party. You better believe he'll be motivated to prove to Houston they made a mistake by passing on him.
New York Jets +1.5 @ Cleveland - Wrong favorite in this game. The Jets are playing well and Cleveland lost their best CB last week.
Green Bay -4 Vs Arizona - The Cardinals are just a poor road team and it figures to be cold and rainy in Green Bay on Sunday.
Still considering some of these other games. Leaning towards:
New Orleans -2 Vs Baltimore
St Louis +9 @ San Diego
Minnesota +2 Vs New England
Also thinking about:
Tampa Bay +9 @ New York Giants
Atwater His Ass

T
[B]St Louis +9 @ San Diego
Is it just me, or does that game seem a little out of whack? I'd think it'd be a little tighter.

Big time. They're only 4-6 against the number on the season.
They're 4-2 against the number in the last six games, though.
This is what I got going for this week...
Wager type : Parlay
Select #1 : NFL Football
New Orleans Saints 10/29/2006 1:00:01 PM - (EST)

Select #2 : NFL Football
St Louis Rams 10/29/2006 4:05:01 PM - (EST) Spread +10½ -125 for Game

Carolina Panthers 10/29/2006 8:15:01 PM - (EST) Spread -5 -110 for Game

And I like the Jets against the Browns and wish I had added them but to late now. Time to get back on track. I started off hot but the last 3 weeks not so much. But I'm still playing with their money so it's all good :)

I dropped the Wyoming game for Nebraska -5.
Ga Tech -4.5 and USC -10.5 are both looking pretty bad so far.
Edit:
Well, I was overdue for a bad week in college. 1-2 and both losses were fugly.
Maybe USC getting beat today will keep the line next week against Stanford under 40.

The Saints are going to cost me some money today.. all other bets look good so far.. but I have the Saints in all but a very, very small one of my parlays...
I can still come out on top, if the Jets win.. but if the Saints would have won, I would have quadrupled my money at least.
Same thing last week.. the Steelers did cost me a relatively good pay day.

The Steelers cost me a three teamer last week, too.

It doesn't matter if you do 10 team parlays or 2 teams. You always get 1 less than you need. THe books just smile when they see people parlaying like crazy.

Yea but that's fine with me. I like to bet a small amount to try to win a large amount and if it only hits a 2 or 3 times during the season I can be up a grand.

I also got those 4 in a parlay, but that wasn't on purpose.
And a small bet that Tatum won't make it past 75 yards this week...

I hit with USC over Stanford yesterday to run my college mark to 15-5-1 on the season.

Green Bay +3.5

Rule # 1
Fade Stanford every week!
They're so bad its almost impossible to set the line high enough. They allow around 260 yards on the ground each week and average about 70 yards rushing themselves. I think they've scored two touchdown in the last six games.

I started hating him about four years ago. He's got to be the worst ref in the League. There's certainly no more intrusive crew working right now. I saw them work a Rams/Saints game last year that would have been unacceptable by high school standards.

Are you counting all teh money you lost in the meantime. You would be lucky to win 4team parlay more than once even 2x. It's hard enough to pick one game right. It's your money but you would be better off betting those 4 games seperated and you would of lost 2 won 2. If people claim they can always pick one winner a week they would be millionaires then because the sky would be the limit on profits.
