Up till now, I've thought that we had to stay another 12-18 mos just to get more Iraqi cops trained, but the hell with that. Let em butcher themselves.

When I was there for some extended period of time, they didn't like us then either....nothing new there. What I find interesting are the parallels to vietnam. Really makes one wonder just what the #### we are doing there. Vietnam seems to have come around, I just bet Iraq would also given some time. time being the operative term

Who would have guessed? We did invade their country and seize control from their government and all. They also soak up the propaganda of news outlets like Al-Jazeera.

Very interesting.

Seriously, thou, how do you do a poll in a country like that? I guess it would have to be door to door, right?

How do they do that since over half the country only has electricity a few hours a week, and a large percentage has none at all?

Like I said in the begining , you cant force Democracy on people , specialy People that prefere religion over goverment ........... You just cant do it ,people will reject any changes ....... Thought we would have learned this lesson in Nam .... Henery Kissinger believes we lost Nam cause of the peoples support back home ...... No we lost cause Charlie was fighting for his home ...... when a man fights for that reason , you either kill him or let him be . you wont convert him .....

So now what... do you abandon Iraq? Do you leave a theocratic safe-haven for Al-Qeada in its wake? Do you allow Iran to exert increasing influence over a major portion of our oil supply? What about the Kurds.. do you sacrifice our alliance with Turkey by leaving the turks to incite a Kurdish revolution inside Turkish borders?

You can't... we're there, and we have no CHOICE but to be there until some type of stable government 'takes'. I've said it before: We need to institute a draft (as much as I hate that) and get enough boots on the ground to control that situation. We need to be able to defend infrastructure in a way that allows Iraq to build a real Iraqi economy and a real Iraqi state.

This is one way in which the Democrats are completely 100% wrong. You HAVE to support finishing the job in Iraq... even if you don't support our reasons for going in the first place. We've made this mistake before (see: Afghanistan) and thousands of lives where lost because of it.

Bullshít ....... we should have finished Afghanistan before even going into Iraq , I know republicans love to let Bin Laden go unpunished for his crimes , but we Dems dont ...... as far as Iraq goes , they are going to have to start fending for themselfs , We cant baby sit them all thier lives , one thing that does seem to work on these people is deadlines , we cant afford to keep this up ........ Some military guy in Iraq filled out a fiscal report showing , the army is going broke , the cash cow is leaving , these people dont want us there , they never have , they can work out thier own problems , if they want help they know who to ask ........... This is another Nam , we were told if we lost communism will run the world , it didnt ......... Scare tactics dont work on me ......
