View Full Version : Why slow starts past two years??

I'm not going to complain since it appears we have things turned around much like last year. However, it is eerie how similar this year compares to last --> 2005 got worked over in miami, played extremely shaky against san diego and thanks to champ won that game and then in the 3rd game started looking solid. 2006 --> as we've seen almost a mirror image.
Just curious as to why you guys think we have such slow starts (primarily a slow offensive start). I realize it takes an offense a little longer to get in sync as compared to the defense.
Regardless, I am extremely pleased with the performance and have a lot more confidence now of moving deep into the playoffs.

Personally, i think it is because of the new players. We've been changing up his receiving core and back system every year so that can have a part to do with it. The other thing is Jake is just inconsistent. Its in his nature evidently. But hopefully we are back on track now.

I actually think it is a welcome respite from the griese years where Denver would race out dominantly for the first 5-6 games, and then falter down the stretch. I wouldn't put it past Shanny to have somehow planned things so that Denver peaks later in the season.

I agree with Anubis a little. We are changing up the personnel alot.
Plus, the offense doesn't play enough in the preseason, IMO. They are so worried about injuries and evaluating potential cuts that they ruin a good chance to get some rhythm and flow to the offense. I also think we have become a bit of a finesse offense with some rhythm and timing required in both pass patterns and running lanes. We need a good run/pass balance to be good on offense as certain opponents can strong arm us into throwing. If we could just pound on people we wouldn't need as much rhytm and timing.

Maybe the starters should play a half of the last pre-season game.
