View Full Version : The Shrine is Open!

Fellow Broncos fans. I consider myself a good Christian man, but I have to admit I have created a pagan shrine for all things Broncos. Surrounding the hallowed #7 jersey are signed photos, hats, mini-helmets and other items of mystical power.

I am opening my shrine for prayers, that the football gods might smile friendly upon their supplicants.

If you have any prayers or offerings, please present them now. The gods will address specific issues, but only if offered pagan sacrifices. So, if you offer a prayer, you must also commit an offering - such as beer or beautiful women. Do not offend the gods!

Oh, great and powerful football gods. This humble zealot comes seeking a boon!

I request the battered and bloodied body of Tom Brady, oh gridiron diety.

I offer this 1968 Bo Hickey rookie card in sacrifice.

It's coming slowly. I have been working on the ductwork, and it's taken a lot longer than I thought it would. I've cut the crap out of my hands, for one thing - really cut them. I should have it finished today. Then I just need to run the wire for the speakers, insulate, sheetrock, and paint. Right now framing, electric, plumbing, and lighting are all done.

I'll take pictures when I get the sheetrock up.

Over football fields, those which sway under thy sight.
Thou sculpt'd the razor with thy hard hand.
Thus this encomium bodes to tomorrow's fight

Supreme Beings of The Gridiron, we give to thee these virgins,
Beneath the open sky, thy greatest shrine.
As sacrifice to appease your light within
In return, grant us a Broncos win by nine.

Too much heaviness and strife around here these days. This was from a few years ago when we used to have some fun around here.

BTW - the result of offerings to my Bronco shrine last time? The Broncos won the improbable game against the Patriots by a score of 17-7. Here is a new picture of the shrine including the Tebow McFarlane Figure, the White signed ball (with the entire 2010-2011 receiving corps), and the Josh McDaniels signed picture (heh, heh).

The Shrine is open, make your offerings to the football gods with your Broncos collections, chotchkies, and oddities. The football gods always smile on the offerings of a contrite subject...

Man, I finished it, and it was glorious! It was small enough to be cozy (it only seated six), yet it was big enough to be enjoyable (100 inch screen, really good sound, electronic recliners with bass in the seats). Plus, it was completely light controlled, and soundproofed from the rest of the house. I really, really suck at stuff like this, but I felt challenged. So, I bought a bunch of books, and just took my time. I loved that room - especially during football and baseball seasons. There was something about having done it myself that made it even better.

But, a couple years ago, a house that we had always loved went on the market. It's one street over from our old house. So, we moved. I have a perfect space in this house for an even better theater room - most of the work is already done. I just need to find the time to get started.
