Is Sixstringglass' band and I was fortunate enough to get an autographed copy of their CD, and let me tell you, it's fan-****ing-tastic! She has the sound of Amy Lee form evanescense with a bit of Hole mixed in! I definitely recommend going on line and getting this CD! :militia:

For what it's worth, the CD "Too Much To Dream" by Make Me Shiver is 100% original music, with all 11 tracks composed by Sixstringlass.

The positive review is much appreciated, BMF... :D

Wow - that's a coincidence: I was just watching that movie "Easy Rider" and the 60s hit "Too Much to Dream" was playing!

Electric Prunes - I Had Too Much To Dream Lyrics

Last night your shadow fell upon my lonely room
I touched your golden hair and tasted your perfume
Your eyes were filled with love the way they used to be
Your gentle hand reached out to comfort me
Then came the dawn
And you were gone
You were gone, gone, gone
I had too much to dream last night
Too much to dream
I'm not ready to face the light
I had too much to dream
Last night
Last night

The room was empty as I staggered from my bed
I could not bear the image racing through my head
You were so real that I could feel your eagerness
And when you raised your lips for me to kiss
Came the dawn
And you were gone
You were gone, gone, gone

[repeat chorus 2X]

Oh, too much to dream
Oh, too much to dream
Too much to dream last night
Oh, too much to dream
[repeat to fade]

Electric Prunes - I Had Too Much To Dream Lyrics

Yeah, funny story: I was hanging out on the Garageband.com forums in February of 2005 and ran across this guy, Daniel P. Hudelson, who had the phrase "I had too much to dream last night" as his sig line. I thought it sounded cool, wrote it down, and forgot about it for a few weeks. I eventually wrote a song about the phrase.

Then, we recorded it, and I felt like I ought to contact the guy I swiped the phrase from, and thank him, at the very least. He writes back, somewhat embarrassed, that he'd swiped the line from the Electric Prunes!

Well, I was a little taken aback, but I checked out the Prunes' song on Amazon, to see if I'd inadvertantly taken anything else unbeknownst to me, other than the title. Nope. Completely different. But I thanked Dan and the Prunes in the liner notes, anyhow. You can see for yourself, if you buy a copy. ;)

Oh, and you can check out the song itself at the band's MySpace account at http://www.myspace.com/makemeshiver

I disagree with the Amy Lee thing (I hate Evanescense and find her annoying...that's just me though) but I do see the Hole comparison. I was trying to figure out where I had heard a vocal styling like that before and came up with Holly Golightly (6String's voice is similar, but much softer...maybe more like Yo La Tengo's Georgia Hubley in it's softest moments)....I love how the production is heavy with echo. I also really like how the drums sound (no big time arena polish..very refreshing)....matter of fact, the lack of studio polish overall gives it a garage rock feel, which (as everyone knows) is a sound I'm very big on....It's primal, urgent and above all else....real. I was pleasantly surprised by it as a whole.

It's a solid CD and not to just single out one track or anything.....but my fave on it is "Love, Love, Love", which has a heavy Lou Reedish/Velvet Underground sound to me and the way the male backing vocals on this track intertwine with the lead I like a lot as well.

Very nice job MMS.....I look forward to the next offering.

Thought some here might be interested in knowing that Make Me Shiver has recently recorded a demo of six of the cover tunes in the band's repertoire. If you're interested in giving a listen, you can hear it on their website...
