What was Shanahan thinking of not taking that holding penalty with KC on our 26 yard line with 9:40 gone in the third qtr? Why in the world do you not move KC out of FG range?

Because there was a 500mph wind that would have probably allowed a 65 yarder comfortably.
Plus, denying the Chiefs another opportunity to score a TD seemed like a good idea. (Damage limitation)

Wrong answer. Taking the penalty puts them out of FG range (and makes it 3rd and 16).

I thought of the same thing....We could have moved them back to their 38. I'm sure they were on the 28 , not the 26.
It would have given them a new third down... but barring that happening (it might have..Defense was not GREAT today) it would have been a 55 yard FG attempt...instead of 45. Even with the wind....it would have been tricky.

Beerslug I'm right there with you BUT I mean if Denver gets a simple 5 yard holding penalty the Cheffies get a first down.
Personaly I would have taken the penalty the I would have blitzed on the next play but I can't criticize Shanny for what he did afterall Denver won by a FG.

Man, I can't let them kick a 45 yard FG there, I've got to move them back ten yards and make it 3rd and long.

My "why we almost lost the game" is WHY IN THE HELL DIDNT WE PUT COBBS IN THERE WHEN IT WAS FIRST AND GOAL FROM THE 1??
