I remember the days when TD would have 47 yds by the end of the 1st quarter. Tatum just hit the half century mark. Good job.

I respect him but he is just a track sprinter with a football helmet on. Cedric Cobbs is an actual football player and we won't suit him up. He is the next Reuben Drougns. I don't know why we don't play him. The other pu$$y foot around too much. I'm ready to give Nash and Cobbs serious looks starting next week.

This isn't Pittsburgh or Jacksonville we are running against... ITS THE CHIEFS! JC!

I see this looking very similar to last week. Now KC is going to try and pound the ball like St. Louis did.

Lose this game and we can consider the season over.

No, i'm not overeacting either. If we can't score more than 6 pts against the Chiefs AT HOME we will not beat SD twice, KC in KC, Seattle, Indy, Pitt, or Cincy for that matter.

I'm quite shocked they came through. Johnson was quite honestly having his way with them. Well, everyone can get lucky I guess...dman

True, Johnson has over a hundred yds on the ground. But, the defense hasnt allowed a TD yet this year. And our defense isnt that great to begin with so when does it start to concern you that the offense cant get into the endzone? Seriously? Anyone who thinks we have a Chicago or Baltimore defense is smoking crack. The mere fact that they've played this well considering what the offense has left them is quite simply amazing. The defense has done nothing but given the O opportunities to get something going and yet are being let down with either the lack of TD's or TO's.

Bronco Fans Do Not Not Not Be Happy With This Win. If We Continue To Play This Way All Year It Is Going To Be A Long Long Year. Please Do Not Be Naieve; We Have Played Two Very Poor Teams When Compared To Colts, Steelers, Chargers, Ravens, Bengals, Etc. If We Played Any Of Those Teams Today, We Would Have Been Killed, And I Would Think That You Know That. All I Can Say Is We Escaped With A Win Which Is Huge, And Now We Still Only Have One Loss With The Ability To Make A Change Prior To Next Week. There Is No Way Cutler Could Do Any Worse Next Week Than Plummer Will Do At New England. Beliceck With Have Plummer So Confused He Will Be Throwing Left Handed Again.

I would like those that keep saying Plummer sucks to document all the receivers that are wide open that he's constantly missing and instead throwing into coverage. I'll save you the trouble, you can't. Even Phil Simms made note of that as well. He's not missing open receivers and in the NFL, the QB can not hold onto the ball forever. If Plummer was missing open receivers all game, then obviously a change at QB is needed. But the Bronco receivers have not in two games done a good job getting open. It seemed even many of Plummer's completions, especially early on, were in tight coverage.

The playcalling is not getting it done for the most part. You can't be predictable in the NFL and they are right now. There were many times it looked like the Chief defense knew not only a run or pass was coming, but the routes that were being run. Maybe would be nice if Shanahan had an outlet for every pass attempt, a RB or FB, so doesn't have to try to throw into coverage when the receivers aren't getting open. Kyle Johnson got a few catches and seems to me he could get a lot in some games.

The defense did a great job of stopping the Chiefs out of the end zone, but let's get real, not like they were facing a great offense. Too many open receivers all over the place and even if it's just for one game, can someone cover the RB out of the backfield?

I'm just not a fan of Coyer's. Looks like a bend but don't break type defense and when going against a backup QB who hasn't started in years and without a great WR, seems the defense could have held the Chiefs to much less yardage in this one and could have played a lot more man coverage.

Walker is making some big plays and they need to have more plays go to him. Rod has been a great Bronco, but he can't carry the passing offense anymore.

Just seems the opposing DC's are ale to outguess Shanahan in two games now. He needs to make some adjustments, different formations and alignments and running some different things out of those formations. He's just not fooling anybody.

Coyer needs to use some blitzing. I don't see the sense in going from a blitzing a lot type defense to one that hardly ever uses it. Don't have to do it a lot, but to give a different look if nothing else.

Elam makes the big kick. I'm not as confident with his kicking as I used to be, but have to give him credit for that one, into the wind and all.

Those calling for Cutler, I'm reminded what Rod said about that. If the playcalling doesn't get better, doesn't matter who the QB is. Teams would blitz Cutler like crazy and forced to throw into coverage since the receivers right now are not doing a good job getting open. People would be excited with this?

BroncosBeerMan
09-17-2006, 04:34 PM
Agreed. Not necessarily happy that we're still letting the entire defense in our backfield and completely losing the line of scrimmage battle, but we still are 1-1; OAK & KC are 0-2. That's what we need. A win is a win, and we need improving

Yeah, it would have been much better if they'd played ugly and lost as opposed to played ugly and won. ::)

I know, everyone loves to focus on the negatives, of which there certainly were a few. There are positives also. Javon Walker looks like he's rounding into form. The running game still looks solid. The defense hasn't allowed a TD in two games.

I'll be happy we won. Winning gives us a chance at the playoffs and Superbowl while losing means were done at 0-2. This team has the parts to be good. Will they actually put it together and play up to potential? Only time will tell.

One thing we do know for certain is that bitching and moaning on an internet message board will do no good. I'll be pissed if we lose and happy when we win and I don't care how it happens. I find it hard to read these boards at times because of all the constant bitching about things we already know.

All the Jake haters and defenders. All the Cutler Now people. It wears on the eyes after a while when everything is restated over and over and has no bearing on the team. Why, when we all have no influence whatsoever, can't we all just cheer on the team. Somebody makes a bad play? Fine, complain. But don't start on this quasi political campaign/crusade everytime Jake makes a fart that stinks or the defense gives up a fieldgoal.

I'm pretty sure thats what happens if you caps lock an entire post, the board defaults it to caping the first letter in each word.

Our offense was very, very disapointing today, we shouldn't be happy with how the offense played at all, but we should be very happy with the stellar defensive work, the great punting by Ernster, and ultimately the fact that we pulled out a W despite a bad game.

ScottXray

WHEWWWWWW! What a close one....
I couldn't believe Cobbs kept bumbling , fumbling , and medding around with the OT Kickoff.

Things I liked....Javon Walker in the 2nd half....Plummer not FORCING it in the second half. Several runs by the RBBC. The drives in the 4th and OT to secure the win. Don't look now folks but this counts as a 4th quarter comeback for Jake. Special teams basically did OK against Dainty Hall.

Things I didn't like.....
The defense Letting LJ run for 1st down after first down ...especially in the first half. The D KNEW he was coming and couldn't stop him.

NOT accepting the holding penalty on the Chiefs on the play before they kicked their 2nd field goal...WHAS UP WI DAT! They were on our 28...the penalty would have moved them back to the 38 and another 3rd down...Thats a 55 yarder if they have to kick from thre.

Our Play calling....especially the first half. WE HAVE TROUBLE in Denver, folks..NO consistency, no EFFECTIVE run game.

Receivers all COVERED (especially the first half).

Jake throwing into double-covered receivers cause no one was open...THROW IT AWAY! We can PUNT!

A lot more to worry about than to like...but a WIN is a WIN.

Next week on to NE in NE....If the Offense gets on track we have a shot..their defense is more suspect than ours.

You're wasting your time. The Plummer's Helpers can't even see those plays. Its like they never even happened.

Admittedly, the coaching staff did him no favors by calling the dreaded fade pass down at the goalline. Dinger might not know it yet, but Shanahan must realize Jake is never going to master that throw.

Good point, they needed a late Elam field goal to beat the Chargers last year not to start out 0-2. And I bet a lot of cries for Van Pelt to play QB at that time as well.

Again, it's pretty much on par with last year. They played ugly the first two weeks and came out of it 1-1.

They could improve, they could slide, who knows? This is the NFL, so it's a week to week proposition. We'll see what they can do in the next two weeks when the competition gets a whole lot stiffer. If they get smoked in those games, then I might agree with you.

This thread is a joke.

Every NFL team has a few ugly games a year in which they need to find a way to win despite not bringing their "A" game.

You just got one, vs. a division rival no less.

I got to be happy . any time you beat a division rival it is big ........ I remember uglier games vs the Chiefs and Raiders then this one ........ Yeah Jake was off target , but I remember times Morton , Deberg, Elway , Griese , Now Plummer have had bad games ........Today the Chiefs D showed up .......Not falling for the bootleg , huge chunk of our offense gone out the window .....we lost it vs the Steelers , though the ole stretch play shows some life ......

We played like crap against a crap team. I'm sure Shanny's not happy and neither am I.

Exactly. All you idiots who are happy with this quote unquote win are settling for garbage. We barely beat a Damon Huard led offence at home. If you are happy with good enough, I don't feel sorry for you.

So, what do we have to look forward to?
