The "anchor" on Denver's line is Warren.
From what I've seen, Lang is an upgrade over Brown.

Well not to mention the line and rest of the defense looked pretty strong against the Rams, who's offense is one of the best I say he will be fine. I think they need to get Dumervil involved though. I think him speed rushing the quarterback with Turley trying to block, would be like watching Foster getting owned by Little last week.

It's like the rape of Nangking all over again. This Brownco system of aquisition if one of the strangest things I have ever seen in the NFL. They are like a farm club or something.
I didn't notice Lang much good or bad. I was too busy cursing at Plummer. I did notice Foster tho, which is NOT good.

Lang was pretty disruptive Sunday. A sack, pressures, tackle for a loss.

Looks like he doesn't have a choice

Lang has been a great bargain so far.
I think he'll be an upgrade. Doesn't have the run stopping ability, but will bring more of a constant pass rush. Can't wait to see Lang and Dumervil take the field together in nickle formations though. :)

I agree I like what I have seen from Lang so far. He can apply pressure and attack the runner. With Elvis changing the pace the D line should be very effective. Chukerwa looks promising also.

Lang is on the field, so yes he can anchor the line better than Brown.

He has been the best DL so far this season

When you can pick up a starting caliber LDE for peanuts, what's not to like? Wasn't he a free agent? He kinda flew under the radar as other some amusement that it was just another Brownco, seems like he's legit. I'm a little surprised honestly. Wasn't he just a cheep FA?
Obviously, we were talking about our draft choices to really notice his signing.

He seems to rush the QB better than Brown, and he doesn't seem to be a liability in the run game so he might be an upgrade.

Wow, a non-Plummer thread.
I'm actually happy to see Lang getting more action. Having them both would have been preferable, though... because I wonder if Lang might wear down with too many reps, particularly if they run the ball right at him. Brown was very good against the run, if nothing else.
I erased the game, so I can't recall how many reps he got. I wonder if Elvis is going to see some action this weekend?

I think people are overlooking Ekuban's performance last week. He was exceptional for the most part against Orlando Pace nonetheless. He made several key tackles on outside runs and got off his block from Pace more often than not. He had a sack, contained the double screen that forced Bulger to get an intentional grounding penalty, two pressure's, plus forced Bulger into the third sack. I thought he easily was the most consistent DL last week with Warren and Myers close seconds.

My boy Lang played quality football week one. I think he is best used in passing situations obviously, but he is a vet who can play full time if we need him to.
He won't need to anchor the line, because Brown hasn't been the anchor Warren has and will be.

Poor choice of words but you all know what I meant. I think he is a definite upgrade over Brown in pass rushing, As far as the run stuffing, I'll wait to see. If he can hold things together until Brown gets back this line has potential especially this year in the sack department.
About 5 sacks Sunday..........

I thought Lang played well in St. Louis. It seemed they (D-line) weren't playing off of each other well, but Orlando Pace can give anyone trouble.

If Brown had microfracture surgery in '02, he might have already played his last game. I would be suprised to see him back on the field again after his last scope. I hope I'm wrong.

Yeah, the DL was surprisingly solid. Lot of pressure on Bulger even though we were facing a very capable line. Too bad DJ missed a few tackles on Jackson or he wouldn't have broken 100 yards. ;P That was the only real issue our D had.

Lang is one of those "high motor" guys. He's rangy and athletic, and looks a little like Alfred Williams sometimes. I think that he's a really nice player and possibly the best offseason acquisition next to Walker.
I like the prospects of Ekuban and Lang together with Myers and Warren. The Browns really had some talent on that line.

I'm hopeful that Brown can return for, at least, limited duty.
I try and keep track of of some of these injury guys and to my understanding, the problem with Browns' knee at this point is stability, not swelling & fluid...a la Terrell Davis.
A brace could help remedy the problem to some degree, but he will have to get by the pain & the mental uncertainty.
It's a long, long season folks, and all that first-game exuberance won't last if Lang can't be relieved on a regular basis, and the way he's playing out of the gate, coaches are going to want him in there.

No one on this defensive line can even be mentioned as an anchor. I guess if you had to choose one, it'd probably be Warren.

Warren is a good to very good player. Not great. Lang looked better than I thought he would. No one else stood out except Chucky, and that was for bad reasons.

That's what I was thinking.. Brown is a slacker. We don't need him.

That is definetly not true.
