Anyone else see this? I got it on one of my fantasy sites. Didnt realize he had issues, just incase someone else has him on thier roster.

On NFL.com he's listed as probable. His hip.

I have noticed Elam just doesn't look right. Age seems to be catching up to him. I'm wondering how much longer he's got. He has injury problems in the past.

You don't think an injured hip might do that to a kicker?

Elam still has another 8-9 years if he can play as long as Gary Anderson, Morten Andersen, and Eddie Murray. He still has five years to catch up to John Carney.

He is definitely putting up some line drives as of late. Still pretty damn accurate.

To be honest, I love Elam, but I hope that this is his last year, so we can draft Mason w/the 32nd pick overall. Hoping we win the Super Bowl of course.

I dont see many more years for Elam either. He has had some injuries of late.

Isn't Atlanta using a single specialist to handle kickoffs, punts, and FGs this year? That would be sweet -- think of the extra roster spots...

Yes I love Elam too, but for whatever reason he doesnt have that great kick ability he once had. Someone that went to the ram game said Elam was kicking only short range kicks in practice . I belelieve we start looking for his predacessor(sp) next year. The team & fans will miss a great constant over many years if this indeed does happen.

If we use a first round draft pick on a kicker, Im going to be pissed.

At least we didn't need to call on him SIX FREAKING TIMES last week. Shanny has to report every ache & pain. Hopefully we get TD's this week & not SIX FG's.

Man oh man; Vanderjacked, Vinatieri, Elam. All the good old dudes are breaking down.

Nope...ELAM is definitely showing signs of age...He is NOT automatic inside 40 yds anymore, and I get nervous when he tries at 45 or more. And not just this year..he was definitely having problems last year too.
I don't think Anderson(s) or Murray ever had a broken back. Jason will need to be replaced soon. He has been a great kicker for a LONG time...but entropy, age and injuries catch up with everyone. Hope Mason Crosby is available for us to draft. We also need DE, DL.^5

Two Words: Mason freaking Crosby.
If somehow the we picked up Crosby, we'd shave 10 yards off our opponent's average starting field position almost immediately (especially at home). Kickoffs, despite being 5 yards further back in the NFL, would be out of the endzone guaranteed every time.

Can you imagine the collective meltdown here if we picked a kicker in the 1st round?
Garcia would be shopping for another computer and probably quite a few household appliances!

NOT BEFORE a DE or two then maybe...............

I don't think Crosby is a first-round selection, but he's definitely on the level, if not better than Mike Nugent who went mid-second round two years back. If we used our second, (or moved up with one of our other picks to get him) people would be pissed, but some people. . . as GWB would say "misunderestimate" the importance of a kicker.
Field position, winning ball games. Hell, ya'll have been Broncos fans long enough to understand the importance of a clutch kicker like Elam's value to a team. To me, it's very high.
Crosby would kick ass for us, but Ernster has a boot too and didn't do too bad at field goals in school. Maybe we'll bring him along.

Forgot about Ernster, that is definitely a possibilty. If ELAM is truly injured I hope Shanny is trying Ernster out on FG attaempts in practice.

Just some more on Ernster here. . .
Asked to take over punting duties in addition to his other chores as a senior, he went on to lead the NCAA Division I-AA ranks with a 47.8-yard average. Many scouts feel that Ernster is more than capable of excelling as a punter at the pro level.
He finished his career as the school's third leading scorer with 213 points. He connected on 39 of 65 field goals and 96 of 100 extra point tries.
(60% FG Completion)
Crosby, to my knowledge before this season was 47-60, which is what. . . 78%? A lot more accurate, but if we can get Ernster's accuracy down -- their leg strength is pretty similar. I wouldn't mind investing in Crosby though, because he's worth it.
Just thought I'd bring up Ernster though.

and a kick-ass safety in the BT, DS49, Assasin27 mold.

Can Mason Crosby sing Silver Bells or Duet with David Bowie on Little Drummer Boy wearing a Cashmire sweater & smoking a pipe? That would be cool.

Shanny got dinged by the league for not putting someone on the injury report (geez, I think it goes all the way back to the Elway era), and it seems to me that now he over reports - everyone goes on the injury report.
Jason hasnt been the same since his hip injury making that tackle a few years back. Too bad. I dont see him around much longer.

He can kick 60 yard field goals, man! He kicked a 59-yarder at Sea Level in Miami a year ago (thats FIFTY-NINE yards in the humid September Orange Bowl), and his KOs sail the end zone ... he might just be worth it.
How 'bout we use one of the Redskins first rounders on him ... deal?
Billy Clyde Puckett

I'd love to have him here Buff, but Elam is still one of the top 5-6 kickers in the league and assuming he does not have some type of degenerative condition or he doesn't decide to chuck it and pursue his first love, being a bush pilot, Elam can be around another 5 years.
I'm liking the odds of the Pats grabbing Crosby in the first round. They seem to like Buffs.

I've been of the impression that Ernster was kept around last season to be groomed as Elams predecesor. Wasn't he a place kicker first? We know he is the best kickoff guy, and his punting is pretty good too. Tat would be one guy for all 3 duties.
