Was anyone paying attention to his dumb ass in the MNF booth last night? It was the beginning of the 3rd Quarter, if I remember correctly. Oakland has about 45 yards total offense at the time. And Ahnold says (I'm paraphrasing), "Wow. What a great game! Art Shell has done an amazing job with this team - their performance tonight is miraculous!"
Huh?
I'm thinking he practiced that comment before the game, and wasn't really watching how things were actually going. Makes you wonder if he (or most politicians) has a sincere thought in his head.

Yea, I heard that.
It ruined an otherwise brilliant broadcast, I thought. Vermeil was gold and his play-by-play analysis was great.

I wish they wouldn't do that crap. I am not watching the game to hear what Arnold has to say about things. I can halfway tolerate when they constantly promote upcoming shows - they pay a lot of money to get the rights to broadcast the NFL. But I couldn't care less what the governator of Caleefornia has to say about the state of the NFL, steroids, or whatever.

You know, I'm willing to bet that Arnold is actually a huge NFL fan, and he knew that the Raiders could have/should have been losing by more and playing much worse. I'm sure Aaron Brooks even completing a pass could have been considered miraculous.

Have you ever seen this Jamie Foxx clip? It's a roast for Emmitt Smith that Jamie Foxx hosted. It's kind of long (5+ minutes), and the f-word is used kind of a lot, but it's totally worth watching. 5 minutes of the most uncomfortable film I have ever seen.

Well, he granted early parole to more murderers than any other California Governor by the end of his first year in office.
Los Angeles Times
September 18, 2004 Saturday
Under Schwarzenegger, 48 murderers have been released in less than a year.
In his five years as governor, Gray Davis freed just eight.
BYLINE: Peter Nicholas, Times Staff Writer
DATELINE: SACRAMENTO
For all his tough-guy swagger, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is quietly
pursuing one of the most permissive parole policies California has seen in
years, freeing convicted murderers in numbers that dwarf those of his two
predecessors.
In less than a year in office, Schwarzenegger has approved parole for 48
people serving life terms for murder. Former Gov. Gray Davis released eight
in his five years in office.
The 48, plus 10 inmates serving life terms for other offenses, have been
paroled with Schwarzenegger's consent. That's as many as were released in a
six-year span in the 1990s covering most of Republican Gov. Pete Wilson's
tenure.
The governor was not available for comment. But spokeswoman Terri Carbaugh
said Schwarzenegger "believes that people can reform and be reformed....
When he sits down with his attorneys to review parole matters, he's not
thinking about the political consequences. He's thinking about public
safety and the individual at hand."
The state Board of Prison Terms, led by a Schwarzenegger appointee, is
paroling inmates at seven times the rate under Wilson. In only two of the
last 13 years has the board approved parole for as many as 5% of the
inmates it considered for release. Through August of this year, the figure
was 7%.
"It certainly provides quite a bit of hope for the thousands of lifers who
thought they had no hope of under Gov. Davis," said Keith Wattley, staff
attorney for the Prison Law Office near San Quentin State Prison, which
provides legal services to inmates.
"However, you have to keep in mind that these are still really low numbers.
It's really the cream of the cream of the crop who ever get to the
governor's office. While there's some hope, it's still a bad situation for
them."
For a governor, particularly one with larger political aspirations,
releasing prison inmates carries potentially devastating consequences. Much
of the 1988 presidential race turned on Democratic candidate Michael
Dukakis' parole policies in Massachusetts, after an inmate named Willie
Horton attacked a couple while on furlough.
Davis paroled murderers on the rarest of occasions, routinely using the
governor's veto power to overturn his own board's parole awards. The state
Supreme Court upheld his right to do so in a 2002 ruling. The court said
the governor was free to deny parole even in cases in which an inmate had a
spotless record in prison
Davis once voiced the view that even murderers with second-degree
convictions should serve out life sentences, without exception.
"If you take someone else's life, forget it," Davis said in an interview
early in his first term.
"Compared to Gray Davis, Attila the Hun would look moderate," said Franklin
Zimring, a law professor who runs the criminal justice research program at
UC Berkeley.
Schwarzenegger may have less to fear, he added. With a public image forged
in movie roles of heroic cops -- battling drug dealers, criminals, and even
Satan -- "The Terminator" may have more space than his predecessors to free
prisoners without appearing soft on crime.
"He doesn't have real [political] base worries right now," Zimring said.

Foxx killed that guy. Too funny.
Foxx has always been funny, even if people didn't notice. The guy was very funny when he started in career on In Living Color. His stand up was funny. Then he ended up in a lot of low budget productions, so nobody took him serious. He did a few low budget black movies that hardly anybody saw. The Jamie Foxx Show was funny, but it was on a low budget network, so hardly anybody saw it. Well, nobody outside black folks saw it. His roles in Any Given Sunday and Ali turned a few heads in the industry, which set him up for Ray and Collateral, where he killed it.
His career is just like Tom Hanks career. Bunch of low budget movies, a low budget sitcom, then a couple of Oscar type roles and he's a superstar. Hopefully Foxx can stay on top, but I'm hoping that he doesn't forget his comic roots like Hanks did. Foxx is too funny to do nothing but dramas.

I was just talking to my editor about that comment, and how that got to the press. There is no way he said something like that in front of media people. It's an "off the record" type of comment. She said that he was talking with his speech writers, so everything is supposed to be off the record. He was able to talk freely. But somebody in that room leaked this comments to the press. My editor said that his opposition probably had something to do with it, seeing that it is campaign time.

If you dont think Italians are hot bloodied, who is? Greeks loud? It is just known and the congress(lady) didnt even care about the quote and thought it was accurate. She stated that she is very determined and str8 forward on what she believes (unlike arnold). Arnold needs to stand up for crap like this non issue. Oh btw, LA TIMES put the leak story on B 8 . I always find it amusing when ethnic groups get offended at stereotype stupidity, yet they try to use aspects of it when its convenient. I'm also disappointed in Arnold's stupidity. It's like saying Austrians are inbred goosesteppers. And the councilwoman is a fool for pretending it applies. What does skin color have to do with temperament? You can't have it both ways. If someone called her a 'wetback' she'd be offended. That's the danger of picking stereotypes you want to pattern yourself after. An article stated she jokes, referring herself as the 'hot blooded' latina. Whatever. It's like when blacks cluster and call each other '****er.' But let someone white say it and they're ready to cut.
And I have no idea what 'cuban' versus 'puerto rican' blood is. Nor was I aware that they were ALL partly black. I do know samoans are a complete mixture of races.
So let's see...the 'hotblooded' people are all conveniently from 'hot' environments or countries. (Hispanic, Black, Italian, Greek, Arabic, Indian) Emotion and Culture. Right?
The 'intellectual' or 'rational' people are all from 'cool' environments or countries. (Germanic, Icelandic, Britian) Technology and Science. Right?

if you think calling someone hot blooded is a comparison to "****er" or "wetback", you are mistaken and probably a bleeding heart. Many people use hot blooded as a description for themselves as they mean it to be pashionate (boy that doesnt look right) about their causes. Should Irishmen be offended when someone says oh good you like to drink? Come on. It is a trait or pride that has nothing to do with a racist statement. It is a racial statement as in based on race. Big difference. He never said as a deragatory statement. It seemed more as a positive statement about her and she agreed. Let it go. So waht is it, healthy and take it as "fact" or scream and yell for someone making a "deragatory" statement. Some stereotypes happen to be true for the most part. It doesnt mean 100% or even 50% but if it happens alot (media of course helps push a stereotype), then it will be used as "fact". No big deal to me as a white guy. I love making fun of names white people giving their kids as much as the names on the WNBA. Dylan or any "K" name for whiteys as much as the LaShonikas of the WNBA. It is stereotyping something that you see alot. It is like the early 80s when people made fun of whites with names like Biff and Skippy. It was funny. Snobby names. Big deal. Doesnt mean every rich white family were bnameing their kids this but it was brought to us by rumor, media, etc. If you dont laugh at this stuff, you will always wonder if you hurt someone's feelings, apologizing, etc. It is such low on a scale of more personal attacks on a person or race, it is rather comical. And some of the racial jokes are comical.
Circle Orange

It depends a lot on what side of the joke you've been on. Most stereotypes come from lazy thinking anyway...just cluster a group of people into a description, and if you happen to see something that resembles it BINGO! Supposedly its true. Its like everyone said the earth was flat, too. Why? Because it looks flat! It might be interesting to do a thread of stereotypes that everyone is familiar with. That is, without starting a flaming war.
