Well, what have we established in week one?

Here's a test... true or false..

1. San Diego is as good as advertised, and likely the frontrunner.

2. Denver will fight for the division, but must again overcome a bad start... and avoid the distraction of a QB controversy.

3. Kansas City... it's the beginning of the end. The unraveling of what was only a moderately effective team has begun.

4. The Raiders are an absolute embarrassment not just to this sport, not just to sports.. but just to any organized game, in general.

Or any social club. Or any randomly chosen group of citizens.

San Diego is good.

But ill hold judgement until they play an NFL caliber team. If they really are scared to use Rivers, whats going to happen when we stop LT?? We will find out im sure. He looked accurate on his throws, so maybe he will be very good.

We sucked, 5 TO's, you can NOT win games like that. 4 TO's from one guy , Plummer, is very fixable, i and hope he comes back and throttles the chiefies next week.

I'd put KC at #2.

Can't argue with that. The only thing we are better than the Boltz on is the secondary, Coaching and maybe offensive line.

LOL

As for SD, I want to see more from Rivers. You can't run run run the ball every time like they did tonight. Good team no doubt, and Merriman will probably haunt my dreams, but I want to see Rivers throw the ball more.

I'd like to see San Diego get tested by a real team before I anoint them the favorites. They did look pretty damn good tonight though.

And Denver at #3?

I'll have:

1. Denver
2. San Diego
3. Kansas City(At least until Green comes back)
4. Oakland

Raiders are a joke.

The reason the faid didn't take Lienart is because of Walters. Well, he's gonna get a chance to prove himself this year... I'd love for the faid to get the first pick of the draft, and blow it on a DB or WR.

They really are just awful. Imagine how bad you have to be to be getting boo'd by H A L F T I M E of the first game of the year, in your own crib.

Anyway, SD is going to be interesting to watch. They've got a lot of pieces in place, but it IS still Rivers' first year as a starter. He'd be bucking heavy odds to do anything outstanding.

I think we'll get it together and challenge for the division. I think we're a better balanced team, overall... and certainly coached better.

I do worry about this QB controversy thing hurting the team, though. Not in favor of starting Cutler yet, but you almost wonder if that would be better than constant uncertainty, speculation and a circus every time Plummer has a bad game.

Keeping the "Plummer debate" aside, I just hope we figure out a plan and stick with it.... so we don't waste a season figuring it out.

I agree with your rankings, and all the capsules except Denver. I can't figure us yet, kinda like last year after the Dolphins opener - insufficient data. I wanna see Jake play well at least before I sign on.

I am very worried about the Chargers' pass rush ... scary.

It's not THAT hard in Oakland...

I was half expecting Janikowski to come trotting out to keep it from being a home shutout. How loud do you think the booing would have been then? (Assuming anyone was left in the stadium at that point...)

I guarantee the thought crossed Art Shell's mind. Not doing it was the best coaching decision he made all night.

Agreed. You can build anger from a shutout. You can't build anything from acting like a pussy.

We're going to have to figure out how to give our QB some breathing room. When you have one of the more difficult to sack QBs in the league, and he's sacked 8 times in two games... once knocking the ball loose and another having the ball stripped, you've got to figure out what you're doing wrong.

Like Plummer or not, he's not good enough to operate when he's getting mugged before he can finish his drop. I shudder to think what a less mobile QB would have done in our offense the last two games. A guy like Bledsoe or Leftwich could have been looking at 10-15 sacks over those two games.

You know K.C. is going to be sending the house after watching the tape the last couple of weeks. I hope we're putting some outs in place.

What do you mean you shudder to think? We saw it a few years back. And brought Jake in FOR THAT PURPOSE EXACTLY, instead of bulking up our offensive line.

Actually, we tried bulking up our line with your boy Foster.

That's working out well. 1st round pick well-spent, right?

Absolutely. Foster has done very well in our running game, and for the most part has provided good protection, though he's not Orlando Pace by any stretch. But I noticed you dodged the question. You're giving all this leeway to Jake for getting sacked, and made a statement about "getting mugged before he can finish his drop." We've seen this before, and you were calling for the quarterbacks head saying that we need a more mobile quarterback in there.

Not a single one of Jake's turnovers can be blamed on Foster on Sunday. The guy flat out choked under the pressure of the situation once again.

Ahhh... we're getting back to the root of what your disturbing obsession for Jake is all about.

Yes Taco, Griese was highly immobile and had horrific pocket awareness.

It' so funny how THIS is what your whole anti-Plummer crusade is about.

Not a single one of Jake's turnovers can be blamed on Foster on Sunday. .

Didn't say they should be. Again, you're just kind of firing random shots... hoping to hit something, and missing by a mile.

But, feel free to jump into my next post with an irrelevant Jake-bash if you need to.

Taco John
09-12-2006, 01:45 AM
Yeah... I'm missing by a mile alright. Jake went out and did exactly what I predicted he'd do: choke under the pressure. And you, yourself have already started the talk of flip-flopping on him. I must not be missing by too much if that's the case.

Really? That's interesting. I don't think anyone around here noticed that. I know there hasn't been any threads about it.

Good observation, though... and congrats on your wish, errr... prediction coming true.

And you, yourself have already started the talk of flip-flopping on him.

Again, Taco. Your own neurosis on the matter has you so clouded that you've got no concept of reality, at this point. Your forum life has been so far reduced, you just see Jake-black and Jake-white.

I supported Griese when he played well and didn't support him when he fell apart.

I'll support Plummer if he wins, if he continues to fall apart, I'll call for his head with the rest of people.

What's confusing about that?

You're probably confused because I can focus on more than one topic, and that my stance can fluctuate as factual information dictates it so.
Not something you're good at.

But, hey... tell us how you hate Jake again. Maybe a few people around here aren't quite clear.

Seriously, dude... do you weep when you type about it? Pound your keyboard?
