The same injury that cost him nine games in 2003.

I hope Falcon coaches aren't expecting him back on the field until mid October at the earliest.

Abraham's Status Uncertain (http://www.ajc.com/sports/content/sports/falcons/stories/2006/09/11/0912abraham.html)

Flowery Branch — Falcons defensive end John Abraham attended a team meeting Monday morning then, as fast and as cautiously as he could, made his way to the training room, where he spent much of the day — where he'll spend much of this week — treating a groin injury.

No information was provided about the injury, which occurred late in Atlanta's 20-6 victory at Carolina on Sunday, or Abraham's playing status for this week's home opener against Tampa Bay, by coach Jim Mora at his Monday news conference. Also, no update was provided later in the day, although medical tests, including an MRI exam, had been administered and discussions had taken place among team officials and coaches.

Abraham was unavailable for comment.

"I don't have anything to update you on, unfortunately," Mora said. "It's all speculation because I don't know the extent of the injury right now."

Defensive end Patrick Kerney, who strained his right triceps, said Monday that he would not miss any playing time. Kerney said he spoke to Abraham and was given every indication that he would play against Tampa Bay.

"I expect Abe to go," Kerney said. "This morning he was the same situation that I'm in, feeling light years better than he thought he would. Both of us were not feeling good [Sunday]. Both of us, [Monday] morning, came in and said, 'Wow, we feel a heck of a lot better than we thought we would.' "

October may be a bit early. As we've all seen, Abraham doesn't like to take any chances.

That was the concern, his past injury problems. As much as it would be nice to have another pass rusher, I'm glad the Broncos didn't give Abraham the big bucks. I just don't trust he can stay healthy.

He better rest up for his next big contract.

And you know damn well he aint playing hurt. Especially now that he's got the fat free agent contract he always coveted.

I still love how somebody tried to swing his performance into "don't we regret not getting him now..."

From what I saw, we got three sacks by our DL and our QB showed again WHY we needed to take a future stud under center.

Besides, Abraham is all flash in September. He is never healthy when the season counts, late in the season.

Funny how some guys just seem to always be injured while others stay relatively healthy (nicks and dings pardoned). Courtney Brown concerns me in that way. Just seems something is always keeping that guy off the field or at 80%.
