Alright all you Big XII'ers, I am devoting this thread to trash talking, that way we can keep our home team forums dedicated to that, our team. Now with that said, I hope we can all have some intellegent trash talk instead of some worthless drivel like "Nebraska Sucks!" or some stupid **** like that. If you're going to talk trash, have a reason, for example, if your team just got beat down by a division I-AA team, that's a viable reason to trash talk. And lets not forget, we are being moderated so keep it somewhat clean. Let the trash yap begin!

You have to feel for that poor little receptionist. She got it all day long. BTW, Normally that dealership sell 10-20 cars a day...in the three days after the Bomar story broke...3 cars total. I'm suprised the place didn't end up with a lot full of busted windows and slashed tires.

Big XII should be interesting today. I'm pretty sure Nebraska should beat the culinary school and CU will beat the Lambs. Tech vs TCU should be a good game as well as OU and U-Dub. Best part of the day is that as soon as the CU game is over, I'll be able to switch to OSU crushing UTerus.

For all the trash talking that I've seen going on, it sure seems that way. If they aren't your most hated rival, then who is it exactly? ???
As far as Hawk goes, I agree that the people calling for his head are idiots, but that still doesn't its not funny. We had idiots like that calling for Callahan's head after his first season.
Either way, this doesn't bode well for your program. I don't want to sound all doom and gloom, but I sure wouldn't be too excited if I was a CU fan.

Oh that is hitting below the belt Pez! You know I lived in Nebraska for 15 years :clown:
I wish I could have gone to Nebraska, but unfortunately I didn't work to come back from that injury my freshmen year of HS and pissed away all my talent.
My brother is sophmore and starting on varsity this year. He's 6'0 208 and was the JV offensive MVP last year as an offensive guard. They got him as a guard on the varsity team and even though he's small for a lineman, he's been blowing people up. They're grooming him to be a running back though and me and the running back coach fully expect him to start there next year.

Hey, for what its worth, I was part of CU's squad for four years. Ok, so it was the band and all their geeks. So what. I ruled. ;D
Hard part about seeing CU fall for the past 4 years has been the pride that goes with being a successful program. Plus, Saturday afternoons meant more to me than Sunday NFL games for a long time. Its hard to not have that feeling of hype and success that I experienced with the Buffs in the early 90's.

Well, this takes some of the edge off the loss to USC ROFL!
ASU sharp enough to hand Colorado seventh straight loss
Sep. 16, 2006
CBS SportsLine.com wire reports
BOULDER, Colo. -- Rudy Carpenter was often off-target but still threw for 248 yards and two touchdowns in No. 22 Arizona State's bumbling 21-3 victory over Colorado on Saturday night.
Carpenter, whose career TD-to-interception ratio was a sparkling 24-4 entering the game, was picked off twice and finished 21-of-37 passing, but the Sun Devils (3-0) left Boulder unbeaten because again Colorado's inept offense couldn't do enough to reward a stellar defensive effort.
For the third straight game, the Buffs failed to score after halftime.
Although this was the first meeting between the schools, the game had the look and feel of a longtime rivalry with both sides familiar with each other, and for good reason -- the coaches used to work together at Boise State.
Moreover, Buffs coach Dan Hawkins' offensive coordinator, Mark Helfrich, spent eight years under Sun Devils coach Dirk Koetter before coming to Boulder with Hawkins this year. Helfrich's insight into ASU, however, couldn't prevent Colorado's losing streak from reaching seven, the Buffs' longest skid since they opened 0-7 in 1980.
The Sun Devils, who entered play with 13 sacks, tops in the nation, added four more Saturday, all on third down, which negated the modest improvements made by the Buffaloes' sputtering offense in Week 3.
After Buffs freshman Cha'pelle Brown fumbled a punt at his 20-yard line with 3:55 remaining, Carpenter floated a 5-yard TD toss to tight end Zach Miller with 1:33 left, the only score of the second half.
Miller's 12th career TD broke the mark set by Joe Petty (1970-72) for most touchdowns by a tight end in school history.
Miller led the Sun Devils with five receptions for 45 yards. Keegan Herring rushed nine times for 92 yards and Ryan Torain added 80 yards on 18 carries for ASU.
Torain scored on an 8-yard run and Chris McGaha had an 18-yard TD catch to give the Sun Devils a 14-3 lead after a first half in which they piled up nearly 300 yards but turned the ball over three times, twice near the goal line.
Colorado caught the first break when defensive tackle George Hypolite recovered Shaun DeWitty's fumble at the Buffaloes 17 in the opening minutes.
The Buffs gained just 5 yards, however, and settled for Mason Crosby's 29-yard field goal for a 3-0 lead. Crosby was later wide left from 57 yards, just his third miss in 15 fourth-quarter attempts.
CU linebacker Jordon Dizon never turned to look for the ball on McGaha's TD catch. He plowed into the freshman wide receiver just as McGaha hauled in Carpenter's perfectly thrown pass for a 14-3 lead that capped a 40-yard drive, set up by Terry Richardson's 48-yard punt return.
Carpenter was hurried and his throw to wide receiver Jamaal Lewis was picked off by safety J.J. Billingsley at the Buffs 2 less than a minute before halftime.
Colorado had its own troubles down by the end zone -- safety Zach Catanese punched the ball out of quarterback Bernard Jackson's hands just as he was about to reach across the goal line in the second quarter and ASU safety Josh Barrett recovered.
Jackson finished 8-of-18 for 86 yards and an interception. Junior Hugh Charles got his first start for the Buffs since Hawkins replaced Gary Barnett in the offseason and ran for 109 yards on 20 carries and caught two passes for a team-high 30 yards.

I know this is going out on a limb, but are there any actual reasons you have come to this conclusion aside from blind hatred? Can you seriously argue that the program hasn't improves over the last couple seasons? I certainly wasn't on the Callahan bandwagon to begin with and still have some reservations, but he has raised the talent level significantly while overhauling the entire offensive system in three years. We aren't at an elite USC level for sure, but I also don't forsee us losing by 40+ again anytime soon like we did with Solich's recruits. If you think the current state of Nebraska football has no respectability, you better lower your standards drastically for the next few years of KSU football.

They just expect more at NU, they've been there done that. Unlike a little upstart football program like KSU. Switzer said it best in 2000 when he told a KSU fan after the 41-31 OU win... "you guys had a nice little run there..."
If KSU had winning football for the next 50 years, they still would not be able to sniff NU's jock as far as being a football powerhouse. While Callahan may still not be the answer up there, NU will be back. You can bank on it. OU took a nice break in the 90's...now were back to contenders year in and year out.

It was our tradition that carred us, and it will carry NU as well.
NU will never be back to the prosperity they saw back in the day. They will be a good team, but they can no longer cheat the scholarship system like they did under Osborne.

At our peak we only lost three games in a five year span, including three undefeated seasons. I can only think of one program (SC) right now that looks capable of replicating that type of success. It's hardly a knock on Nebraska to say we won't be reaching those heights again. I'd love to hear why you think we "will be a good team" when you've been ranting about how much our coach and AD suck.
As for why we fired our 9-3 coach (who Callahan haters just love but for some reason couldn't land a bigger gig than Ohio afterward) it might have something to do with the fact that all three losses (the only decent opponents all that year) were by 17+, including a 38-9 embaressment at home to KSU.

I did not troll your thread my man. I gave some football takes and my thoughts on some of last years games. There's some good natured ribbing between BMF and myself and then your complete meltdown over my comments about not thinking Cally was a very good coach. I also called out some guy that said the husker D would be top ten last year.
Also, there more fans of other teams dishing it out over there than CU fans.
There was a OSU and a KSU fan as well, but in no way was there more fans on that thread of other teams then CU. Hawk is on a worse start then Cally by far and if you stop and think about the type of players Cally had to run his system then Hawk looks piss poor. Do I think Hawk is a bad coach? No! You can't judge a coach before he starts getting his players into his system, well you can but then you would just be Bluffs fans. Regardless CU fans did post alot of smack talk in our thread when our team was still in its rebuilding process so why do CU fans seem to think that we shouldn't kick CU while its down?

Both myself and the NU guys there kidded come, but we exchanged very good points in a respectful manner. I, for one, learned a few things, and we actually ended up wishing each other a 10-1 season!!!!! (Provided our own teams went 11-0)

So if Hawkins raped my dog do I get a free pass to bash him? To be fair Cally did win some games during his first year as NU's HC and I don't care who he coached before that. Did you take pot shots at Shanny for coaching the Raiders after he became Denvers HC?

By BLAIR KERKHOFF
The Kansas City Star
JIM BARCUS | THE KANSAS CITY STAR
A loss to Kansas was a low point for Nebraska last season.
LINCOLN, Neb. | Tom Osborne called it painful. He sat dejectedly in the hotel ballroom after his loss in the Republican primary for governor last month. He’d even lost his home district.
“They sent me a pretty strong message,” he said.
These are rare moments for Osborne. Simply put, the man is not accustomed to losing. Sending strong messages? Osborne lives on the delivery side of those.
A decade ago, however, the new Big 12 Conference also sent a message to Osborne and Nebraska. The days of the Huskers getting their way, being admired and feared as the nation’s premier college football program, were numbered. The Big 12 would bring with it new rules and, because of that, new rulers.
Financially, the Big 12 has been a necessary blessing for its members. But there were losers along the way. Atop that list sits the Nebraska football dynasty, going from mythical to mediocre in this new super conference.
“The mystique of Nebraska fell off,” said Jon Zatechka, a Husker offensive guard from 1994 to 1997. “Once you know you can beat a team, that’s half the battle. And teams were lining up.”
Osborne and Nebraska approached the new league with skepticism. Bad enough the Big Eight seemed to be catering to the Lone Star State’s every desire. But the biggest blow — Nebraska football’s first Big 12 loss — came a year before the league kicked off. It served as the earliest stare-down between North and South, specifically the powers in each region, Nebraska and Texas.
Nebraska wanted unlimited partial qualifiers. Texas did not.
Texas won.
Unlimited partial qualifiers — players who don’t meet either minimum grade-point average or standardized test score requirements — would not be part of the Big 12.
“The University of Texas became a major driver of Big 12 policy,” Osborne said.
In time, when Osborne and his recruits from the Big Eight days shuffled out of the program, the Huskers started to slip. But it wasn’t until 2002 that the empire crumbled. Nebraska, which went 60-3 from 1993 to 1997, is 30-20 the last four seasons.
“It hurts,” Zatechka said. “When I was being recruited, it was like you could come to Nebraska and it was a guarantee you were going to win nine games and go to a bowl game.”
•••
In the Big Eight’s final three years, Nebraska went 36-1 with two national championships and three undefeated regular seasons. It’s easy to see why the Cornhuskers were comfortable in their environment.
And they weren’t alone in cheering the Big Eight.
Former Iowa State coach Johnny Orr often reminded reporters in a high-pitched tone, “The basketball coaches voted 8-0 against merging with them.”
Kansas basketball coach Roy Williams teed up the Texas schools at a news conference. He thought “Big Texas” was a more appropriate name for the enterprise.
Even after the Big 12 got its legs, the resentment bubbled. In 1999, a confidential e-mail slipped out from Kansas State president Jon Wefald, in which he suggested the University of Texas “represents in most people’s minds incredible wealth and arrogance.”
Osborne sensed trouble from the start. He learned by reading it in the newspaper that the Big 12 had chosen former Oklahoma athletic director Donnie Duncan as the associate commissioner for football. Nothing against Duncan, Osborne said. Heck, they got along fine, and Osborne liked the choice. He just thought a memo from the conference office that the position even existed would have been appropriate.
It had been established that Steve Hatchell from the Southwest Conference would be the commissioner and not Kansas athletic director Bob Frederick, that the league office would be in Dallas and not Kansas City, and that the Huskers would lose their annual rivalry with Oklahoma in the new scheduling.
Nebraska, the Big Eight’s muscle, was seeing its wishes denied.
But as a sour point, the partial-qualifier issue towered above all.
The Big Eight allowed schools to sign athletes who fell short of certain academic requirements. Those athletes sat out as freshmen, lost that year of eligibility but could regain it through solid classroom work. Like basket weaving and corn shucking
Five defensive starters from the 1995 national championship team came to Nebraska that way.
Texas wanted stronger standards.
“We thought it was extremely important to make a stand on this,” said Chris Plonsky, Texas women’s athletic director. “This was a new generation of college athletics, and this was an opportunity for a new conference to say we were going to be about high academic standards.”
Besides, Texas was prepared to take its ball and run to the Pac-10 or Big Ten.
“The issue was a deal-breaker for us,” Plonsky said.
Still, Osborne pleaded his case. He reasoned that initial eligibility rules were biased against economically deprived athletes, that schools in the Midwest have a small recruiting base and need the advantage, and players in the university’s academic help system would succeed.
What’s more, Osborne resented that Nebraska was cast as an academic backwater. No school has produced more Academic All-Americans, and the football program has consistently ranked near the top of the conference in graduation rates.
But the vote went against the Huskers. Plonsky remembered being at a men’s basketball game when she was approached by then-president Robert Berdahl with the news.
“I remember him saying, ‘We held our ground,’ ” Plonsky said.
A compromise allowed each Big 12 school to admit two male and two female partial qualifiers each year. Osborne wasn’t happy. Then again, little about the whole Big 12 idea pleased him.

No offense to you shakenbake cause you seem to be a stand up guy and a respectful poster, but that is one of the reasons I despise Texas more than any other team in college football.
It's easy to be picky when you are sitting in the middle of one of the premier hotbeds for high school football, not so much when you are in a state of 1.7 million.
The only way to compete with that recruiting wise is to hit the jucos hard... which is what Billy C is doing.

Ron Prince has been trying to instill a stronger hatred of Nebraska this year. His strategy includes not allowing his players to wear red or cornerbacks coach Scott Frost to wear his championship ring. Meanwhile Dan Hawkins recently said at a pep rally "Yes, we are 0-and-5. But remember….The worst day of being a Buff is better than the best day of being a Husker!”
Personally I love that we are still the center of their attention. Just lets us know they care. :~ohyah!:

Typical lucky Okie ;D
This year's runaway First Place Stella Award winner was Mrs. Merv
Grazinsk i, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, who purchased a new 32-foot
Winnebago motor home. On her first trip home, from an OU football
game, having driven on to the freeway, she set the cruise control at
70 mph and calmly left the driver's seat to go to the back of the
Winnebago to make herself a sandwich. Not surprisingly, the motor
home left the freeway, crashed and overturned. Also not surprisingly,
Mrs. Grazinski sued Winnebago for not putting in the owner's manual
that she couldn't actually leave the driver's seat while the cruise
control was set. The Oklahoma jury awarded her, are you sitting down,
$1,750,000 PLUS a new motor home. Winnebago actually changed their

That actually happened about 3 or 4 years ago...I saw the carnage. I'm suprised that they lived.

Well Crush ... like every other week this year, things change pretty fast!! I just watched the end of the Oklahoma-Tech game with family here in Dallas ... nobody's happy cause they're all A&M alumni, and they HATE Tech. The weird part is, Oklahoma will STILL be South champ if they beat Oklahoma State next week. The South really sucks now :~ohyah!:
So the Missouri-Kansas game will be close to a National Championship Game. Who wouldda thunk when they chose Arrowhead as a neutral site to drum up interest for "Rivalry Week," that Kansas and Missouri would be ranked #2 and #3 ??? Pretty bad timing for Buffs and Huskers fans, the CU-NU Thanksgiving Friday ABC-TV contract ends next year. They already demoted us to the morning slot behind Texas-Texas A&M, now we might lose out altogether to the new KU-MU border showdown.

im gonna stick with my prediction of no Big 12 team making the title game. It'd only be fitting after all the crazy things that have happened this year.

As long as it stays on the Friday after Thanksgiving and is on TV....I could care less if ABC picks it back up or not.....their loss if they don't.

People talk alot about how bad the Texas public school system is but they just don't understand that it seems that way because our alphabet dosn't start A,B,C. Instead it startes F-O-U
Speaking of Oklahoma. Anyone in here know they they named it Oklahoma? Because S*** was already taken!
