White House Targets Conspiracy Theorists As Terrorist Recruiters
'Strategy for winning the war on terror' says world contaminated, corrupted by misinformation
Paul Joseph Watson/Prison Planet.com | September 7 2006
A document cited by President Bush in his recent speech at the Capital Hilton Hotel on how to 'win the war on terror' cites conspiracies as one of the wellsprings of terrorism and threatens to "address" and "diminish" the problems they are causing the government in fulfilling their agenda.
On Tuesday Bush referred to the strategy paper as "an unclassified version of the strategy we've been pursuing since September the 11th, 2001," that takes into account, "the changing nature of this enemy."
The document says that terrorism springs from "subcultures of conspiracy and misinformation," and that "terrorists recruit more effectively from populations whose information about the world is contaminated by falsehoods and corrupted by conspiracy theories. The distortions keep alive grievances and filter out facts that would challenge popular prejudices and self-serving propaganda."
The terminology echoes President Bush's speech (video below) to the UN General Assembly on November 10th 2001 in which he stated, "Let us never tolerate outrageous conspiracy theories concerning the attacks of September the 11th, malicious lies that attempt to shift the blame away from the terrorists themselves, away from the guilty."

Basically the "dark" nature that one like myself can take from this is.......
People like me should watch what we say. Dissent is not looked upon whatsoever.
As new rome burns - the world slips back into tribalism and fear - I should watch it - i might be saying something "that would challenge popular prejudices and self-serving propaganda."
Gee you ever really think about what that sentance really means?
Or did we really educate ourselves stupid over here.
**** you all for letting this country go to hell. **** you all.

We should have seen this one coming. I can't wait until the report regarding pre-Iraq war intelligence is released today. The spin doctors will need to work overtime to "re-adjust" the wording to fit the neocons views! It's time to clean up the garbage in our beloved White House!

You guys need to learn to relax. This speech is directed overseas. The prevalent view in the Muslim world is that a Jewish conspiracy attacked the U.S. on 9/11 and then blamed it on Muslims. Regardless of who's in the WH, we will have to dispell that idea abroad. I don't doubt that the neocons would just as soon turn this against American citizens, but they no longer have the power for that.
From all the indications I can see, Bush is done for. There is a tsunami coming in November, after which this country will be able to enjoy a long awaited neocon-bake. Get your utensils ready. The time is coming where we will be able to sort through all the various high crimes and misdemeanors with real investigations, rather than the window washing types. ;D

words mean things. In a darker sense, any questions about 9/11 are a threat. Will 9/11 questioneers (heh my own bushism) - be prosecuted like holocaust disbelievers?

And in the meantime, as they attempt a "neocon" weenie roast, they'll redefine their election platform to ensure the constituents understand what they "really" voted for, squander their opportunity and find it difficult to make a decision because they are adjusting their POV to the polls, and of course handicap the country with their foreign policy stance. Yep, we are in for some real fun. Glad I am retiring BEFORE they get a chance to screw up my benefits, but they will eventually get around to it. Who cares, we don't need the military anymore, or the retirees. Sure, whatever. Looking forward to it....dman

I look forward to seeing them scramble like cockroaches when the "lights are finally turned on". We need to get to the bottom of all of the lies. The sooner, the better!

Yep, had some cuts. But, alot of other proposals were put on the table that basically "raped" us. I'm thinking if the dems do take the majority in november, I need to retire asap. Fortunately, my papers are in and I'm waiting for a retirement date. Should be complete within 2 to 3 weeks as far as final date. Funny thing is, "retirement" is what I'll be doing , most naval personnel actually transfer to the "fleet reserve" and draw a "retainer" vice a retirement check. Big difference. Bottom line is , once "retired", Uncle sam CANNOT call me up under any circumstances due to the length of service.....other folks don't have that luxury..dman

Strictly a matter of opinion. Female president? Besides the fact that I don't believe we are ready for one, she panders to the polls and is nothing short of a "chameleon" with respect to changing her stance like a "reed in the wind". Disgusting individual from where I sit. A real suck up, and not to be trusted..dman
*On that note, there are too many exactly like her in both parties. The lot of them need to be taken out and publically flogged.

Speaking of suck up. GW is a pro at "sucking down" to anyone in his little circle jerk of liars and crooks. We have the equivalent of a mafia run WH. The Buddy system perfected beyond belief.
I'd prefer to have someone who at least pay one iota of attention to what the public think, rather than someone who pisses on what the public thinks.
We put them in office to REPRESENT, not to spit in our faces once they key the front door key to the White House!

Once in, she will not represent the people. You may believe GW has issues, but Hillary? She'll redefine the word "issues" for all presidents to follow if she were elected....if she offered a hand shake, I'd refuse. Want nothing to do with her...dman
*wrt the "buddy system" , to a point I agree. He chooses and sticks with folks who in some cases fall short of being able to do the job competently. For example, I would have fired Rumsfeld about 4 years ago. I agree with you to a point on this. Some of the folks up there though, have done a good job though IMHO.

Oh, I think we're ready for a female potus. It's just that hillary really is a carpet bagger (you thought I'd say muncher, didn't ya (-:) and condi's a light weight with self identity issues. A woman of Thatcher's or O'Connor's ability would be ok.

That can be said for the modern political arena in general. "Yes men and WOMEN" exist unabashed in both major political parties in our country. Too worried about losing their "mealticket" and not doing the right thing when the opportunity presents itself. And the leaders of the "Yes" folks being blinded by their own self-importance, and surrounding themselves with robots of their own design and needs. One of the reasons it's in dire need of a healthy enema.....dman

The problem with hillary is similar to bushii. Neither has any core ideology. Bushii betrayed us gopers of the libertarian bent both on his right out refusal to contsrain govt growth (WJC was better!) and his own born again beliefs being placed into govt. (this a-hole actually thinks God chose HIM and ok'd invading Iraq! the 090u0oing audacity and out fo control pride)
Bushii only cares about power, gaining and holding it. Using the power is secondary. Hillary has the same problem, so I tend to agree she'd be as bad in some way of her own.
WJC was disappointing in many ways, but I really don't doubt his sincerity in wanting to better the lives or working men and women and to eradicate racism. My disappointment in him is that seemed content a relative stand off with the mega capitalists, rather than any moral issue. We all sin privately. I think WJC is a moral individual in that he has a core of what he believes we all owe one another and how society should treat us all.
I'll never vote for a person whom I'm the least uncertain has that. I'm not sure about Kerry. But then I'll never vote for anyone who gave bushii a pass on Iraq.

1) Kerry is not the answer, the DEMS can do bettter than that.
2) agreed on Hillary, she's not to be trusted
3)I agree, slick willy did want to make things better. He did do well in some areas (welfare reform), and cutting expenditures (overall, again, he missed the "boat" on the military).
4)Since I plan on being one of those "mega capitilists" when I retire, what is your beef with them...??...dman
