View Full Version : Should all polls be public polls - a poll
Sir Mawn
09-04-2006, 10:05 AM
The reason I voted no, WAS NOT because I don't want people to know my opinion, but because many times polls are influenced negatively because people ARE afraid to express their own opinion.
I say leave it as an option.
If your are afraid to express your opinion what the hell are you doing on a discussion board?

I dont vote in public polls for the most part. Voting in this country is a private matter and private polls give more accurate results.
Public polls become popular opinion polls and are ALWAYS skewed. It has nothing to do with being afraid, it has to do with accuracy. No scientific poll is public. No government poll is public. The results are ALWAYS private to retain accuracy.
Not that it matters since most of the people that make polls on this board dont know the first thing about a non biased poll in the first place.
edit: For instance, this poll is skewed. If you vote no, you are "afraid", even though that is not necessarily the case. This sort of poll is a yes or no poll, period. Reasons are plenty and if you wish to add reasoning behind the poll, then many more options besides two are needed.
The yes option is just as stupid. A poll is placed in a thread. If people wish others to know how they voted, they may opt to post in the thread with their full opinion. In fact, most do so anyway.

I'm not going to write a dissertation here, because I could care less if we change the polls or not.
But the bottom line is this, if you're worried about skewed polls or are afraid to voice your opinion on if it's Brian Griese's fault on an internet message board, you need a life. On the other hand, if you are really that worried about how somebody halfway across the country who you'll never meet voted on an issue of the fault of Brian Griese, the same holds true.
In conclusion, who cares. And move this thread. OMG WTF IT'S FOOTBALL ONLY!!111

Should voting booths be in the open?
It's up to the poster to make it public or private. The fact is, if it's a contraversial poll, I certainly wouldn't make it public. It's just fine the way it's set up.

Your continually clueless. Noone is "worried" about a skewered poll. That doesn't mean it isn't. Your stupidity is only enhanced with a Brian Griese reference that was completly off the edge. BTW, if someone halfway across the country who you have never met, votes, he's made public isn't he.
It's the choice of the person posting the poll. If your scared, make it anonymous. I see no reason to make any poll public other than curiosity.
Go make a public poll "Does Bush Suck" your going to get 80% yes. Then you can ridicule those who voted he doesn't.

The thread was about public vs. private polls. At this point I don't even care if I misspelled something or used improper grammer. Your out of line and a jerk, I didn't insult you first dickhead. You were obviously too stupid to read thru a gramatical error to get what I was saying?

Obviously the point I made was lost on these hacks. It was that polls are more INACCURATE if public. If someone wants to post a public poll I could care less.
THE QUESTION was should all polls be public, which is idiotic. All these two idiots managed was a spelling lesson. They never even made a comment on the issue. I firmly believe that they understood my comment, bad grammar or not. Did they have trouble understanding the comment? No. Did they want to pick a fight? Yes.

Great, I found something I am in common with with the Mockski. I hope being a southpaw is the only thing in common. Dont blame being a lefty for grammatical errors. The problem is chugging 10 beers before finally realizing how to turn on the computer internet that gets you this way. It is known in a public open poll that lefties that love cats in Iowa are just plain retarded. I really dont care about the grammatical errors for short cuts so I rarely will pick on someone for it. Mock has other major issues to try to keep his ADD from HIJACKING a thread.
On the polls, keep them private and those that want to voice their opinion , can do so with a post. More accurate this way. It might be just football or it can be politics. Keep it private. Damn, there is another thing I agree with the brewmock.
