Sorry to see House go and Dayne too. Both were good soldiers. Wonder what the chances of bringing one or both back might be. If we could bring back Jarious Jackson, i guess anything's possible.

Not particularly surprised about Dayne. While he languished with turf toe the other guys proved they could handle the running duties. He'll probably get a job elsewhere but he probably regrets signing that one year contract.

Not surprised by the Carswell cut. He just wasn't the same and I don't think he's fully recovered. I don't know that we've seen the last of him though. I could see Shanny giving him a call in the future.
Dayne was more surprising. I knew they were shopping him around, but I guess there weren't any takers.

With our depth I guess I thought he had a real chance to stick. He can play the whole Oline more or less T and G and TE. Would have helped up free up a space for a DB/WR or RB oh well in Shanny we trust.

He was down for a promotional thing and my friends are reps for the local cable company that was sponsoring it. They were with him at a dinner and drink thing before he started arguing with his gf then took her back to the hotel. Then he pushed her out of the car. She refused to testify later on and that's why the charges were dropped.

The police report said she was asked to leave his property and refused to...so he removed her...and it never made any mention of it being a moving vehicle

I think that might have been the arrest in Atlanta.
7/2003
Denver Broncos tight end Dwayne Carswell was arrested on charges that he picked up his girlfriend by the neck and was released Saturday night on $2,500 bail.
He was arrested Friday and charged with simple battery, domestic violence and obstruction of an officer, said Sgt. Nikita Hightower, a spokeswoman for the Fulton County Sheriff's Department.
In January 2002, a mistrial was declared in Pueblo County, Colo. He was accused of assaulting and harassing a woman who says she was a former girlfriend. After a second mistrial, Carswell agreed to restitution and community service.
On Aug. 9, 1998, Carswell was arrested in Denver after police say he grabbed his then-girlfriend by the neck. Two years later, he pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of harassment and was sentenced to one year's probation

Not knowing the details as well as you appear to -- I have a couple of thoughts on this subject:
1) I am trying to remember the quote, but it is something to the effect of -- If someone were to look at us on our worst day or even our best day, they would certainly walk away with an untrue picture of who we really were and what we stood for.
2) I hope that this was Carswell's worst day

Too bad about Carswell, he played a part on the championship teams. But let's face it, he's not exactly a young player anymore. Dayne couldn't get healthy to get on the field.

Well, I would say that if he didn't have three different arrests for beating up women. OK, I didn't mean for this to turn into a debate. I just wanted to get my dig in because i don't like guys who have a habit of beating up on women. I simply won't miss him.

Another notable veteran expected to get his walking papers as the Broncos trim their roster to 53 by Saturday was running back Ron Dayne, who briefly visited team headquarters Friday but drove away without speaking to reporters. His agent said he hadn't heard about his client's status.

:spit: wow. i for one love the sarcasm. Loved him on the field. He did have ton of character issues but his accident certainly put those on the back burner. On the field he was one of my favorites though. Tyrone braxton had issues with women too. so did rod smith (minor). Even Elway got a divorse and now hits it with a bimbo. I dont hold football players to the high standards i hold politicians to ;)
Sad to see Dane go as well. He did win the SD and Dallas games. Maybe I wish he could of been released earlier so he could make it on another squad.
Part of me wished Shanny ran his team Parcells style so we could keep our washed-up feelgood players around.

Carswell only stayed here to keep rehabbing an unfortunate automobile accident. He didn't have a chance in hell on being in the final roster, but being a class organization, he was allowed to continue his medical rehabilitation and recieve the support of teammates. I don't think he had a shot in hell of making the team honestly.
It's just bizness, but it was time to get to our final roster. Another of the old warriors rides off into the sunset. As far as his spats...it's not uncommon. It happens to many people. I'm not discounting it whatsoever. He never had serious felony assault or menacing, just a troubled relationship. Bringing up something almost a decade old is tasteless.
May the first perfect human step forward and get us all in line?

It's not as if Dwayne Carswell was arrested yesterday and we are defending his actions. What Dwayne did happened a long time ago.
You act as if posters here start random "Chris Henry Is A Thug" threads every other day. Usually what happens is, is that a player allegedly commits a crime, gets arrested, makes the news and we start a thread to discuss it.
Other than that, don't expect posters to rail on the House for what he did years ago.

Oh, just more defense of a repeat offender for domestic violence. But he was a Bronco, so that means that we should either ignore it or go as far as some around here did with their attitude that the gal in question probably was just getting what was coming to her.
And don't give me this bull**** about how it was a long time ago. I've seen you bring Brett Favre's painkiller addiction up for the sake of taking a shot at him, and that was a lot longer ago than any of Carswell's arrests.
I hope that he gets his life on track, I've been hoping that for a long time.

There is always room for redemption and I do hope that his actions of the past are not his future or his present behavior. I hope he does well, I hope the Broncos will find a place for him with the team, perhaps as folks go down with injuries.
As for Dayne. Well, he hasn't been on the field, the other backs were looking pretty darn good and Dayne seemed to be marginal at best. Perhaps he thought better of himself since Anderson was now gone and he thought his place was assured so he would just nurse the turf toe til the start of the season. It didn't work out that way.

I'd give Carswell a look in a David Dunn type roll with Oakland. We have too many converted WR's playing TE.

Entire Career cut short seems too drastic a statement. Maybe the last year or 2 he was robbed of. He did play for a long time. He's got some money, he's got some rings, he's happy.
