Cut the toes in your shoes, find some old CB pads in the trash, then catch every ball that comes your way no matter what monster is about to lay you out flat... then Mr. Kirkus, will you begin to prove your worthiness for that number in that uniform. Why?

Because he's better. Shanny has pretty much said that he already knows what Watts can do and wanted to get longer looks at Kircus and Devoe, who I think were competing for the #5 (and possibly final) WR spot. Go look at the official depth chart. it hasn't changed at all from the beginning. Watts is behind Rod, Marshall behind Walker.

According to Shanahan, Marshall also has a very good grasp of the offense. Perhaps surprising for being a rookie....but it's what he said.

When you factor in his size, etc.....I think it's only a matter of time before Marshall is the #3......but I'll admit, in the preseason so far, Kircus has definitelly earned it.

I know it's been said before, but who would've thought that we'd get deeper at the WR position, while losing Lelie at the same time ? !Booya!

The"official" depth chart means nothing. Who says he's better? He certainly hasn't shown it and certainly hasn't had a better preseason than Kircus. The guy doesn't play special teams. He's a liability more than anything else at this point.

The"official" depth chart means nothing.

Then why does Shanahan and the staff go through the trouble of crafting one?

Who says he's better? He certainly hasn't shown it and certainly hasn't had a better preseason than Kircus.

That's because only because Kircus got more PT. And Shanny has said Watts wasn't playing because he already knew what he could do and he wanted to get a look at the other guys.

The guy doesn't play special teams. He's a liability more than anything else at this point.

He's going to make some big plays for us as the #3 WR this season.

I don't think so. Watts and Van Pelt had the same "I'm on the bubble" face working for them last night. I thought the third and 11 missed slant from Bradlee to Darius was too ironic. They both knew as they walked to the sideline that they were through.

I think that Watts gets cut. He looks like a famine victim out there and he doesn't catch the ball with regularity.

Think back to the first preseason game. Watts got the start with Road and Javon sitting out. He looked good catching 4 pass for 35 yards and no drops. Next game, Shanny says he won't play unless there is an injury, we already know what he can do. After the third game, Williamson specualted that Watts was on the bubble because he did not play much, while at the same time quoting Shanny who said not to read anything into that, that he just wanted to get a look at the other guys. Now, it's possible that he had other reasons for making those statements, but I can't think what they could be. Watts looked good in his start and did nothing in the opener to earn a demotion, so I tend to take Shanny's comments at face value. But, I guess we'll see.

That is a good point. I'm just going off what I've seen.

Lord knows that I'm no football expert like many on the board. I can't look at the tape and break down the game. But what I've seen of Watts does not impress at all. I would really, really like to see him succeed, but I think that he's done.

We'll find out in a couple of days. There certainly have been variant reports to confuse the issue. There was that ESPN Insider article that quoted a team source saying that Darius had been "the most outstanding WR in camp" and that was why the coaches didn't mind losing Lelie, then you've got other reports indicating that he might not even make the team. Shanny's comments have seemed to express a confidence in Watts, but there could be something else going on there. Who knows? We'll find out soon enough.

In my mind, Kircus' preseason was a little more inconsistent than people are making it seem. He looked very good in the opener, nondescript in the second game, bad in the third, and excellent in the preseason finale. So, I don't think he's blown anyone away. I think the depth chart will look the same as it's look from the beginning: #3 Watts, #4 Marshall, #5 Kircus, #6 Devoe if they decide to keep 6.
