And to add to the question, will the $660K that Lelie was going to cost be saved this year - and does it carry over to next year or need to be used this year?

It worked for the 'skins when they cut off Arrington so I would assume it works the same for us, but who knows?

Don't know if it's this year or next year, but it would be in one chunk and not spread out.

As far as I know (!!!), even though Lelie is forced to return 20% of his signing bonus ($660K), the amount will not be removed for cap-calculation.

In the unlikely case that it does, it will only effect this year. (teams can not have a cap-hit-“credit”)

To hit the cap, money has to have been paid to the player. If Lelie pays it back, there's $660k on the cap that has not been paid out. It should be come off. What Arrington did was similar, though he voluntarily paid it back, and that money was removed from the cap.

I could be wrong, and I’m not familiar with the L.A situation.

I would think that if a “signing bonus cap hit” can be removed if paid back it would create some sort of an unwelcomed loophole

There is no official site with detailed information regarding salaries and cap-situation.
The NFLPA site (nflpa.org) used to be open to the public, but not anymore. You could look at annual salaries over there for any player (no bonuses or cap hit though)
There are some dedicated (or crazy) fans that keep a good track of their own team cap situation, if you look hard enough, I’m sure you can find them. There was a very detailed one for the Colts I ran across about a year ago.
I have not seen one for the Broncos though, and with the Broncos management notoriously known for not releasing any information it will be hard to keep one up.
Ask the Commish (www.askthecommish.com) have a nice salary cap FAQ as well as current "bottom line" numbers for all 32 teams

The 660 is this year's salary. Or maybe it is 600. The signing bonus may also effect the team's cap if it is actually paid back. It seems like Dale Carter's bonus was going to help our cap, and then he filed bankruptcy and never paid it back so we didn't get any relief. (As unfair as that sounds.)
Obviously I'm confused - why I asked the question originally. ;)

From today's Atlanta Journal Constitution:
Grady Jackson's three-year deal with the Falcons calls for him to make base salaries of $710,000 in 2006, $1 million in 2007 and $1.5 million in 2008.
Wide receiver Ashley Lelie will make $600,000 in base salary this season.
