This is just plain wrong
• Losing defensive tackle Trevor Pryce in free agency will hurt. He's a player you had to account for because of his pass-rushing and run defense. I don't see Courtney Brown, Gerard Warren or anybody else over there making up for that.
Trevor has lived off his reputation since after he came back from his back surgery....he was never the same player.
Our pass rush has looked better this preseason than it did last preseason.
Trevor had ONE good game last year..ONE

You guys played probably the 3 worst offensive lines in the league.

Oakland looked like the 85 Bears playing Detroit.

if people actually watched Trevor throughout the year and not just his highlights from his one good game agains the Chiefs
they'd realize he was not worth 12 million dollar cap hit

Im not sure how you actually "lose" a player who managed to "disappear" as much as Pryce anyway...

And when you cut a player, is that really "losing" them? Or is it kicking them to the curb?

They forget that he vanished for the last 9 games..... 17 tackles from a guy that was a 10 mil cap hit?
SI haven't a clue sometimes.......ok, most of the time.

The real point is the fact that the scout thought Trevor was playing DT more often than not. He must have been from either the Chiefs or the Raiders, otherwise I'd have to doubt SI's credibility and then be unable to sleep.

This is bogus. If you talk to guys in the game most of this doesn't jive with reality.

Ok the premise sounded cool, I guess I should have read the entire thing before posting. :)

Their assesment of John Lynch is bogus as well.

I'm surprised you liked it, especially after the garbage about Moss. Moss isn't feared because Collins or Brooks don't frighten anybody.
Shame on you Bill, SHAME!

Welcome back from vacation Pat. Please pay Peggy Shanhan to whisper the words "defensive line" in Mike's ear every night while he is sleeping in the next offseason.

While the article seems to give both strengths and weaknesses for most teams, it could find nothing good to say about the chiefs. Seems like we're not the only ones who aren't all that impressed with an aging core of star players surrounded by high-priced, over-the-hill veterans and a couple younger players.

I completely concur. Trevor had a great opening game last year and then did nothing for the rest of the season. The only positive you can say is that he did play all year. I do think teams assumed they had to account for him last year so I won't discount that point but I don't see his loss hurting us really at all.

• The Chiefs have to play better defense. The better teams score a lot of points against them.
My god, this guy must have a phd in football analysis or something.

if people actually watched Trevor throughout the year and not just his highlights from his one good game agains the Chiefs
they'd realize he was not worth 12 million dollar cap hit
They'd also notice how often he got doubled.
Did Trevor get pressure while being doubled? Rarely, so that means he's no longer that top elite player who deserves the money he was being fed. But opposing offensive lines consistently doubled him, all season, anyone who watches Denver games could at least see that. Whether or not Trevor was as good as advertised doesn't change the fact he kept Courtney and Gerrard from being ganged on.
We can trust Denver to have a running game no matter what, because how many of you can remember a season where we couldn't run the football?
We can trust Denver to stop the run because when was the last time Denver's rush defense ranked below 5?
We can trust Rod Smith to catch the football because when was the last time he really had a bad season?
Now ask yourself.
Can we trust Denver's D-line to generate pressure?
When was the last time they did?? Last year? THe year before? 2 years before? How about the last half decade?
Its been 4 or 5 seasons since Denver's had a D-line that could give a consistent passrushing effort.
