Tonight is likely to be a tough game for Culter and the backups as Denny Green will go with his first stringers until well into the 2nd quarter.
Just like last year Green wasnts to get off to a good start and establish a postiive attitude in Arizona, plus there is the new sold out stadium, Edge, a full corp of healthy wide receivers and an improved defense.
At least the first half is likely to be an uphill fight and we could be havign to come from behind by the time Leinert gets in. It should be a good test of our defensive depth.
On ESPN, Green said he would start phasing in the 2nd team mid way through the second quarter but would probably start by subbing Leinert for Warren at the begining of the 2nd quarter so Leinert can get some work with the first team offense in a game.
With Green's strong desire to win this last preseason game, and us going with our backups the whole way, it will be interesting to see if we can put the kabosh on them again as we did last year when they didnt have quite as many weapons.
The good thing is we play them again later in the year and they wont have seen our first team at all.

as long as nobody gets injured, the cards can whomp our 2nd and 3rd teamers all night long.

That's so dumb. What satisfaction is there in beating someone's backups? How is patronizing your team going to "get things off on the right foot?"
I think it's great for Cutler and some of our up and coming offensive linemen. I'm curious to see how they do against first rate talent. I hope Cutler plays deep into the third quarter.

The point is to remember that this is an Exhibition Game, and Shanahan is just looking at the backups. The Broncos have nothing to prove, and there is nothing to gain. My biggest hope is that there will be no injuries.
Otherwise, it will be interesting to see how Cutler does against the Arizona D, but the intensity implied in the article is just BS. Cutler and the RBs are the main focus for me, and I want to see how the Dline does with the second level players. If there is some competition with the Zona First stringers, then I think Denver will have something. They don't have to beat them, just be competitive.
You think Shanahan is going to show a h3ll of a lot in this game? He has his one good eye on the Rams, and the furture game with the Cards will be a better contest and will be game planned.....

....first rate talent.
Hilarious!
Not exactly the Panthers, Pats, Colts or Seashickens, now are they? I do agree that Green is setting this up as a "real test" which, I suppose, reflects his respect for the Broncos.

That Arizona defense was ranked just behind us against the run and i believe ahead of us in total defense. They are a good team. There o-line is there achilles but they are solid in all other aspects.

I hope Shanahan puts Cedric in there nice and early so we can judge him against a first string defense.
