I watched Adam Schecter's segment on the NFL network last night and the early indications from Shanahan and the coaching staff point to Mike Bell winning the job as the featured runner with Tatum backing him up. Cedric Cobbs will be part of the RBBC filling the role that Dayne played last year. As of right now, Shanahan is seriously looking to trade Dayne for a late round pick rather than get nothing for him in return. This definitely means tonight's preseason game against the Cardinals is more likely pure showcase material for other teams. As for Nash, my best guess is the practice squad as an option for him but nothing else was said regarding the backs other than Mike Bell #1 on the depth chart with Tatum #2 and Cobbs #3.

I heard someone say Nash isn't eligible. We are wasting our time with Dayne. Unless a team is afraid to get him off waivers, he's just going to hit the street. We didn't trade for him...he was holding a sign "will works for 500K",,,

Last I heard, Nash is still nursing a minor knee injury and probably won't play tonight. If they want to hold onto him instead of waiving him, could they just stash him on the PUP list and then activate him in 6 or 7 weeks?

Old Dude, that's exactly what I was thinking. PUP with option to play later or on to IR, or straight to IR

Wasn't Philly at one time interested in Dayne? I wonder if the interest is still there by chance.

Rumors are that Houston & Miami are the most interested.
Houston makes sense since Kubes knows Dayne, they are running the same system, and Dom Davis may be out for the season.
I don't know what the deal is with Miami.

?????? What are you talking about. I too watched the NFL network and Adam Schefter said nothing about Mike Bell being the starter. You can even go to NFL.com to see what he said. He is only saying that Ron Dayne might be traded. I really think Cobbs has a great chance to start.

I think Nash could very well end up on IR. Cobbs has not played against starters. Until he does, I feel it's insane to put him as the starter. Dayne is history. Would be nice to get a pick of some kind for him, better than nothing.

The Ding Dong offense will be the way to go. Chris Kuper, Eslinger and Myers made Cobbs look good and everyone needs get over it.

I have nothing against Dayne he just is no longer in the plans here but wow, seeing him on the news last night, with the cornrows and Ricky Williams style beard, damn, the guy should be cut for just that reason alone.

Forgive me if I don't have the exact TV transcript, but I can't rewind live telelvision and I didn't feel like waiting up a couple more hours for the repeat. From what my ears heard, indeed they could be wrong, Schecter said Shanahan is content with Mike Bell and Tatum Bell in the backfield and to look for Ron Dayne to be traded. By the way, correct me if I'm wrong but the segment with John Lynch was interesting because he mentioned all the backs are in the mix " We know what Tatum and Ron Dayne can do" Don't quote me word for word but that what Lynch said. IMO, Cobbs looks just as good as anyone running behind the 2nd and 3rd stringers. Only Shanahan knows who will start.
