Now I have no idea if this is true or not but a poster on the broncos espn message board claims that on Cold Pizza this morning they said Watts was being shopped around. Here is the link and message: http://forums.espn.go.com/espn/thread?forumID=154&threadID=4262244&lastPostID=27442367

"This morning on Espn 2 - Cold Pizza's cover 2 section around the NFL, the reports were that we are actually shopping around Darius Watts to other teams and were one of the 5 teams mentioned who are seriously in the market for another wide-out. Is it possible that we are actually considering being a player in the Deion Branch market?? I don't really understand the logic in that whole report though, why shop Watts if he's making so much improvements and then go out and look for a replacement? I know Marshall is still banged up and I don't feel great about Devoe,Kircus as top-tier slot guys.... any thoughts?"

I don't buy it. I mean, I guess he could be part of a package for Branch, but with our depth at WR, why get a guy we'll have to pay big bucks to when we have quality labor for cheap?

If Watts were being shopped wouldn't it make sense to have him on the field showing what he can do? If anybody is being shopped it's guys like Kircus, Devoe, Adams, Clark, and Terrell.

Or how about they were so damn excited that he didn't **** up in the first preseason game they didn't want to take a chance and let him revert back to last year and start dropping balls left and right.

Yeah, that's why it makes such little sense. Even though I'm excited about Watts' potential for this season, that's all it is at this point...potential. He couldn't possibly carry more than 5th or 6th round value at this point. He's worth more to us on the field. I have a bad feeling we are going to let him go for relatively low compensation, only to watch him become a very good WR elsewhere.

Thats exactly how I feel, Watts really doesn't have that much value out there in the market since he hasn't done anything. We have a bunch of potential guys but outside of Rod and Javon we really don't have anybody that has made a name for themself in the nfl.

or maybe Denver's management does not want him to get hurt and get nothing for him. It has been strange that he has not been on the field in the last couple preseason games.

Watts has shown enough this training camp and did very good in his starting role in the first game, I don't see him being cut. He's our best chance to get a lot of yards playing in the slot. Marshall has some learning to do(although using him at slot in the redzone would be great IMO) and if Kircus ends up in the slot. Watts would be one the best 4th stringers and most likely the best 5receiver in the league.

I watched a good chunk of Cold Pizza today (didn't change the channel after M&M, too busy on the comp) and I didn't hear a word of Broncos coverage. They aren't exactly the show that would report potential trades either, unless it was Woody rambling on. They're quite possibly the least reliable show ever when it comes to real sports news.

He could be injured but Shanny has not said anything to that effect. Thus, I do not like the already injured angle.

I not sure what that means. Is that something anyone would want to be called?

My point is that he's not on the bubble. I think he has a good chance of replacing Rod when he retires. We'll have to see if he can he can make it through this season injury free.

Wanted:

Looking for Trading Partner:

Offering an average height, rail thin wide receiver. Excellent speed and agility, lacks strength to get off the jam.... Suffered severe nerve damage in right hand and as a result drops 50% of all passes... No other injuries to speak off since he was "rested" all of last season. Is willing to relocate, but not play special teams

And you guys thought it was hard to trade Ashley...

Well then thanks for clearing that up. I thought it was a little odd myself when I saw it but decided to post it anyway. It would be nice to add another veteran wr that has done something in the league just in case Rod starts to show his age or Walker goes down. I would like to see Watts and Marshall play a decent amount against Ari. but I don't think they will.

Funny, but beating a jam at the line is the one area he is great...not by strength but is too quick to jam.

I really wouldn't care if they traded him. It might be to make room for Brian Clark. That guy has good hands, good size and a lot of potential and talent. Plus he is younger than Watts and catches that ball, so it might be to make sure that he makes the roster, because currently he is like number 6 or 7 but with Watts gone he makes the active roster

Shanny does seem to be going away from the frail speed guys and going back to the WCO roots of big strong guys that get extra yards.

This does not bode well for Tater.

Huh? Watts replacing Rod, you're kidding? The guy is a toothpick and his resume doesn't include going over the middle where Rod has been so great. I won't even go into his blocking skills.

Shame on all of you for wasting your lifes posting to this crap.

Watts on the block would make sense actually ... they must like Devoe, and maybe David Terrell could stick at #6 WR (if there is one).

But I'm a bit worried about Kircus. I've seen a couple things recently that make me worry he might be a Frerotte-like knothead:

1) - NFL Network put a microphone on Shanny when they did "Inside Training Camp." Shanny was really mad at Kircus when he didn't finish a route. "Why didn't you finish? Come all the way over?" Kircus said, "there was a guy over there." Shanny said, "yeah, but you gotta finish the route! You interfered with the tight end who was open behind you ... when you stopped, you got in his way ... come on now, you're smarter than that!"2) - Then, he cut a route short Saturday night, and the pass sailed to where he wouldda been had he finished. He also dropped one ... and as somebody on the board noted - three straight drives ended with 3rd down incompletions intended for Kircus.Sure - he had a great game at Detroit ... but remember: he has personal issues with the Lions, and with his ex-gf (the Subway heiress). Plus there was a Kircus fan contingent there. I'm not 100% sold on him yet.

It was GREAT to see Javon kick butt ... but I'd feel a whole heckuva lot better if I see Marshall play well this week ...

.

Sorry i didn't realize Watts posessed cat-like reflexes that gave him the ability to make other professional athlets look like mere mortals.... It really is a cruel joke of God that this poor kid can't seem to catch the damn ball.

Cat like reflexes...

Blazing Speed...

Unstopable at the LOS....

Able to leap pro-bowl corners.... blah, blah, blah

Look down on the field, it's a bird, it's a plane, no its....

I-N-C-O-M-P-L-E-T-E

all cause the poor kid dropped the ball..... again
