Pretty much what I expected from a bunch of tight-asses. I'm still banned because I started a poll about whether they thought they got the better of The Trade. Someone deleted it and I asked why. They banned me when I asked why. This was about a year ago, maybe more.

HAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA
All hail the great mind of Al Saunders and his 700 page playbook.
Lets see...Williams runs the defense and calls the plays. Saunders runs the flacid offense and calls the plays from his ridiculously complex 700 page book.
Just what does Gibbs do these days?
I don't understand why Saunders was brought in. Sure, I was excited when the announcement was made...the guy is a true offensive mind--just look what he did in KC.
But, I didn't understand it. Gibbs was always first and foremost an offensive mind. Look what he did in his first stretch with the skins offensively. And look what he did with the offense in the past two years.
And now they've basically taken the offense away from Gibbs and given it to someone else. WHY??????
CAN SOMEONE EXPLAIN WHY SNYDER FELT THE NEED TO GUT THE OFFENSE AND START OVER????

We came so close to drafting Darrell Green. That would have been a nice addition to that Elway/Mecklenburg draft. It would have spared us the agony of Mark Haynes and Ben Smith and, oh God, how many others?

They believe everything will be fine when the regular season starts and Portis comes back. Maybe. Brunell is losing his fan base, I think. I did not see the game, and have no interest in it, other than a curiosity as to whether the Deadskins are that bad or the Pats are that good. You know, they have Seau and all...... I suspect neither of those extremes is true, but you just never know. Maybe a switch in first rounders is gonna be a good scenario ....

Not that I don't hope the Redskins do well this year, and I know we still have 16 regular season games to play and are currently 0-0, but how can some of you blindly proclaim that this doesn't matter at all because it is the pre-season? Yes, it doesn't count for anything and yes, teams aren't using their full playbooks but regardless, our starters are being outplayed and yet at the end of the night, after getting blown out 41-0, all you can do is joke about the "chicken little's". There is nothing to be optimistic about. In fact, the only thing we have going for us is the fact that until September 11th, we still have a chance. It would be foolish though to act like there is not any problem at all and we're fine. We're really not.,

Just something I wanted to throw out here to see what you all think. Someone mentioned to me a few years back that the Redskins had had a curse put on them by a native american group protesting the use of the team name "Redskin". It was first mentioned after the group's first legal battle over the issue which was I believe around 1993 (after coach Gibbs first go around.) I think we all know how the team performed from '93 til now with the exclusion af making the playoffs in '99. Now this same group has filed another suit over the same thing but from a different angle. I'm wondering if another curse was used. I don't know if I can believe this or not but how do we explain a team with all this talent, with the amazing coaching staff we have, how can they be dominated over as badly as they were tonight?
Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Dayum...I would dismiss this collosal beat down if was week 1,2 or 4. Week 3 is the pivotal preseason game where you play your starters into the 3rd quarter. This wasn't 28-10.
I just heard that two Fox journalists have been kidnapped in Iraq. They are making them read mumbo jumbo. The second guy was obviously roughed up. I wonder who is going to weild the hacksaw this time now that Zaquarwi is dead. I don't mind Fox paying a ransom, but our Goverment simply can't. My blood is boiling. Sorry, I just found out as I was posting. Kidnapping news corrospondents is so barbaric it's disgusting. Sorry, I just needed to vent a bit.
Man, you would of thought that Billichick would of backed off but it's hard to stop a runnaway train. That score is absurd, especially for the 3rd game when your playing starters. Brunell seems to have hit his wall. You can't just tell your team to lay off, these guys are trying to make the roster. Either N.E. is really really good or Washington is really really bad. Looks like both after that ass kickin'.

Truth is Atlas, we looked like crap tonight. The offense always lags behind the defense, but the D looked awful too. Everything we ran was vanilla on O and D, true, but vanilla doesn't mean missed tackles -- and there were pleny of those. I would also say that both the OL and the DL needs to feel pretty ashamed of how they got straight up pwned tonight, with very few stunts run by the Pats DL and very little blitzing.
On the other hand, the Pats looked phreakin' phenomenal. They didn't run any motion, but ran at least 20 audibles on offense. Even into the 4th quarter with their 2nd QB, the guy was calling audibles and catching our scrubs out of alignment. If I never hear the word "Omaha" again, it will be too soon. It was a brutal beatdown.
Now, it is preseason. These things can be corrected. The Redskins were the last team to report to camp -- scarcely 3 weeks ago -- and their lack of physical play was obvious. This was their first real pop in the mouth. Honestly, with all of the stupid talkk of playoffs and Superbowls, I think this is the best thing that could have happened to the team. They were outclassed in all 3 phases of the game.
As for those jerks over at Extremeskins crying about a little water on the deck, I am thoroughly disgusted and embarassed by them. I do not know what they are but they are not Redskin fans. Every fan base has them, and ours live at Extremeskins. Please do not judge all Redskin fans by the lunacy and sophomoric posts you see over there.

Losing 41-0 has to do something mentally to the Skins. How do you think they will go about next weeks game. I know Shanny will rest all the starters. I have to think The Skins will play the starters at least one series maybe two if they don't score.

Mike Holovak was a coach for the old Boston Pats in the 60's. He never tried to win Exhibition Games. He would win maybe one or two out of the six they played. He was just evaluating talent. Funny thing was that he always seemed to put a good team on the field when the season started.
Point is that many of the "Old School" coaches really have the need for competition after the third or fourth Exhibition game. When you think of all the units and the assistant coaches working on slightly different plans with new and untested players, etc., it is not surprising that the teams are different when the season is on.

Preseason or not, the 3rd game historically is the one you open up the throttle.

It is only preseason, but nobody likes losing 41-0 in any game. I'm sure they are a bit embarrassed. The Skins have talent, but with Brunell, he doesn't lead you to have confidence he can last a whole season considering his age and past injury issues and Portis is having troubles as well.

I always thought Brunell was overrated.
Brunell, Offense: Three and Out
First Unit Has Yet to Score in Preseason
By Howard Bryant
Washington Post Staff Writer
Sunday, August 27, 2006; Page E11
FOXBOROUGH, Mass., Aug. 26 -- Early on in training camp, associate head coach Al Saunders explained his offensive philosophy and how it related to his quarterbacks.
His point was intended to defend quarterback Mark Brunell and assuage whatever fears the quarterback might have about becoming comfortable with a new system, an extensive playbook and new personnel in a short period.
Redskins quarterback Mark Brunell's passes have rarely found their target. He has one interception and no touchdown passes in three preseason games.
"The good news is that in our system, we're not asking Mark to win the game for us," Saunders said during the first week of training camp. "We're asking him to manage the game. We're asking him to follow his reads, not try to do too much and let the offense work for him."
Following Saturday night's 41-0 loss to the New England Patriots, however, the level of concern among the players is growing. Washington has scored 17 points in the preseason, and because starters traditionally play little, if any, of the final preseason game to avoid injury, they will have little chance to correct their mistakes.
"We don't have anything to feel good about," said wide receiver David Patten, who came back to New England after having played on three Super Bowl champions. "We aren't accomplishing anything that we want to accomplish."
Brunell has played sparingly through three preseason games and has not had an extended run of success in the new offense. He has thrown one interception and no touchdown passes, has barely moved the ball and said his grasp of the offense is an "ongoing process." His quarterback rating in the preseason is 48.1
By halftime on Saturday, the Redskins had totaled 20 net yards passing.
Brunell took his most snaps of the preseason against New England, and the Redskins continued to struggle. Brunell played the first half and the first series of the third quarter; he completed 7 of 16 passes for 51 yards and was sacked three times.
"They got a little bit of the blitz, particularly at the end," Brunell said. "But for the most part, it wasn't overly complicated. They're a good football team."
While it was unclear how much Brunell may have been bothered by the sore groin that kept him out of Thursday's practice, he and the offense clearly were not in sync. The Redskins' first team has not scored in the preseason.
After last week's 27-14 loss to the New York Jets, the players said they looked forward to this game because of all preseason games, the third game is the most crucial.
But the Redskins managed one lengthy drive and had nothing to show for it after a 13-play possession ended with John Hall's 43-yard field goal attempt being blocked by defensive end Richard Seymour. That drive included a 15-yard taunting penalty against Patriots middle linebacker Junior Seau. A bright spot was when Brunell completed a seven-yard pass to Antwaan Randle El on fourth and four from the Patriots 36.
The Redskins' formula may be for Brunell to manage the game, but the playmaking element is still essential, especially on third down. The Redskins had 59 total yards and were 2 for 8 on third down in the first half. If there were glimpses the Redskins were revealing more from their playbook, it was in Brunell looking for single-coverage matchups. He threw to wide receiver Brandon Lloyd more Saturday night than at any time in the preseason. He also seemed to look for his slot wide receiver in Randle-El.
But nothing looked crisp. Worse for the Redskins was the comparison to Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, who completed 14 of 24 passes for 193 yards and a touchdown in the first half. Brady finished 17 of 30 for 231 yards and a touchdown. Brady's rating was 92.5.

Aside from the play of the team extremeskins has always had a strange dynamic. I think they are doing a disservice to a lot of message boards that are trying to do more legitimate things with teams as media outlets...they get the inside track to their own organization and then they send guys out that act like complete bafoons...cheering in the press box and just general things are unprofessional in the situation they are lucky enough to be put into. Just makes the fight tougher across the board for online communities looking to do more.
