It's all a plan by Gibbs and Co. He doesn't want them to go into the season knowing they'll go 16-0, he wants them to have to work for it. I know because everyone at ExtremeSkins says so.

Denver gets their 3rd and '08 4th if that happens. I'd almost rather have that. I want Denver to be at the bottom of the 1st this year since the guy I want won't go any higher than that.

They continue to blitz and Brady just step up and calmly delivery the pass.

A Schefter article and Sundquist said the same thing on NFL Radio yesterday afternoon. Denver cannot swap picks if the Skins pick higher than #21.

Which is why I'd rather they just get the picks and not worry about a 1st round swap.
Denver's risk is that the Skins are even better than expected and they get a low 3rd and '08 4th.
The Skins risk is that they are a lot worse than they expect, giving Denver a high 3rd and a 4th next year.
it was always the equivalent of a high third round pick regardless of the 10 page thread trying to make it otherwise.

I still think it's a good deal. It didn't seem like we were going to get a 1 or a 2 from anyone, so I'll gladly take a 3rd and 4th round pick.

That, along with why did we completely abandon the running game when TD had 91 yards on 14 carries, will remain a mystery.

The picks also need to be within 4 slots of one another as well if I recall, so we'd need to be picking 25th for 21 to pay off.
Our best bet is the 'skins tanking hard, giving us an early 3rd and an '08 4th.

Because he twisted a knee on a goalline carry. A carry that never should have happened, except bought off Red Cashion ruled TD was stopped short of the end zone on the previous carry.

Did he really? All these years and I never knew that. I thought they just abandoned the run because they fell behind.

Shanny said that was one of his big mistakes in that game. He deserted the running game too early.
Notice the very next year in 1997 he never made that mistake, including the Superbowl. Denver ran and ran and ran. They have been that kind of team ever since.

I believe that is wrong, It has to be the value of a high 3rd round pick. and both teams have to be selecting in the 20's

Nope, Skins just have to be at #21 or lower. The most the Broncos can move is from #32 to #21.

In the event that there is a swap the distance between the Broncos' and Skins' pick will then determine whether a third or a fourth is thrown in.

Right, but I am talking about a lesser move which would result in a swap plus picks. For example, a move from 32 to 25 would be worth about 130 points, so the Broncos would get the Skins third, about 145 points, bringing the package to the equivalent of a high 3rd.

There was a FG attempt. It was blocked. The Pats handed the Redskins their lunch today. No two ways about it. Now, I can't wait to see how this team responds.

As all the Skin pundits here in the DC area will point out, Gibbs has a sub .500 record in the preseason, and was swept in the preseason the last season he won the SB.
On one hand, its only preseason. On the other, they dont just lose, they look really bad doing it. Its a shame we dont have their first rounder this year and not last.... I got a funny feeling this year wont be as good as last year.

Losing in the pre-season is one thing. Getting flat out pounded in every phase of the game is another.

C'mon, fellows. It doesn't matter that the pick is a third only. The question is whether there will be a fourth the following year. Swapping is not a big deal. The point is that Lelie is outta here, and the Broncos got something for him, and he will pay back a big wad of dinero. Now, I contend that the value of anything from the Deadskins will be in the ability to work deals to either move up, stay or trade and maybe look for more second round talent or whatever. The issue next year is going to be D, IMHO: Dlinemen and S. I think that also leads to the BAA drafting which just strengthens the team over time. The Deadskins deal was probably the best they could have done at the time, although it appears that other teams now wish they had gotten in the hunt.
Moving on, the Deadskins looked very....uh.....dead tonight.
