raping off skins is complete!

Your use of the term "raping" in reference to a football trade is insulting to anyone whose life has been impacted by rape. Get out a dictionary and find a new word.

Plus, who knows how this will turn out? Maybe it's a win-win-win. Why do we always have to beat down on the other guy. In my view everyone got what they want/need. Yipee.

quote from the article

"The Broncos, Falcons and Washington Redskins executed a three-way trade Wednesday, with the Broncos receiving draft compensation that will be determined based on where the Broncos and Redskins are slotted in the 2007 NFL Draft. The Redskins received running back T.J. Duckett from the Falcons at their end of the deal."

Falcons trade RB Duckett and receive WR Lelie in three-way trade
August 22, 2006
The Atlanta Falcons announced tonight that they have completed a three-way trade with the Washington Redskins and Denver Broncos in order to obtain veteran WR Ashley Lelie.

The Falcons traded RB T.J Duckett to Washington. The Redskins then traded an undisclosed 2007 draft choice to the Denver Broncos, who then sent WR Ashley Lelie to Atlanta.

"I don't even know how to put it into words, that is how excited I am," said Lelie. "The most exciting part of it is that I get to step back on to the football field. I've missed it. I'm excited that I have the opportunity to go to the Falcons, who have a great organization, a great owner and a great coaching staff. I'm looking forward to playing with Michael Vick and becoming a part of the nucleus that is already there on offense."

Lelie, 6-3, 200 pounds, enters his fifth season in the League after being selected in the first-round (19th pick overall) of the 2002 NFL Draft. He has played in 64 games with 40 starts and has tallied 168 receptions for 3,007 yards with 12 touchdowns. The Broncos have made it to the playoffs in three of the four seasons that Lelie has been with the team. In postseason play, he has totaled 10 catches for 152 yards and one touchdown in four games played with three starts. Lelie has led the League in yards-per-receptions average (17.9 avg.) since 2002, owning the highest yards-per-catch in the NFL in 2005 (18.3) and 2004 (20.1). He eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark (1,084 yards) in 2004. He has also recorded five 100-yard receiving games in his career. He finished his career at the University of Hawaii as the school's all-time leader in receptions (194), receiving yards (3,341) and touchdown receptions (32).

Duckett, 6-0, 254 pounds, also enters his fifth season in the NFL after being selected in the first-round (18th pick overall) in the 2002 Draft. A veteran of 54 games with 14 starts, he has tallied 552 rushes for 2,175 yards (3.9 avg.) with 31 touchdowns and 29 receptions for 233 yards in his four-year career. A former Michigan State alum, Duckett ranks sixth on the Spartans' career list with 3,379 rushing yards.

"Everyone really appreciates the professionalism in how T.J. Duckett handled himself when the trade rumors started to float around and that is what he should be commended for first and foremost," Falcons head coach Jim Mora said. "Secondly, we're excited to get a player of the caliber of Ashley Lelie."

Its to our benefit if our frequent trading partners in Washington, and in Atlanta, are happy with the results of our deals.

Remember back when Shanahan was fleecing people out of Day One picks for future car salesmen like Jamie Brown and Jeff Lewis? People became leery of trading with us.

I particularly enjoy three team transactions where the actual outcome of the deal seems nebulous. Keeps 'em coming back for more.

Shanahan is finally placing proper value on the importance of dealing from a position of strength and maneuverability on Draft Day. I couldn't be happier. We're already seeing huge dividends.

Easy now hoss. I'm not a big fan of people being "politically correct", but using the term rape in regards to a trade is just stupid. Do you really think, Rocket, that the Madres raped the Rangers. Or did they simply get over. The term rape connotates a hell of a lot more than simply getting over.

So from what I've read here and elsewhere the eventual value of Lelie to Denver is going to be a high 3rd rounder? Right?

If so I don't think Wash got robbed. Fair deal. People could say Lelie wasn't worth the pick Den used to draft him, but then they got a better replacement for him with a second rd pick. Seems a wash to me.

I think the trade benefits all three teams....and we get SOME value for our former 1st round pick, that very likely would have ended up sitting the year out. Kudos to Sundquist for getting at least the equivalent of a third.

Lelie is an idiot for the short term.....and will be the #1 receiver in Atlanta shortly. I agree that Lelie had a BAD ""fit"" in Denver.

Eventually he will find the right Team to be a star.....maybe.
