Just announced . . . the HOF Seniors Selection Committee nominated Browns guard Gene Hickerson and Lions tight end Charlie Sanders for the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Floyd "The Franchise" Little has been snubbed again, although I heard he finally received some serious consideration.

The Broncos continue with one HOF member in 46 years.

It's a complete joke at this point. Gene Hickerson?

That's at least 3 Browns offensive linemen from that era

I really don't understand how a franchise can send six teams to the Super Bowl, winning two of them and only have one hall of fame player. It simply doesn't add up. The hall of fame committee is essentially suggesting that we have been successful through smoke and mirrors, I guess.

They must hold a grudge against the Broncos for treating Maurice poorly.

Who cares about the sports writer's Hall of Fame. Hopefully one day there will be a real Hall of Fame selected by actual players

How many of those sportswriters are in NFC cities?

(for you young newbs, Cleveland was NFC until the merger in 1970)

When he retired he was FIFTH in all-time rushing yards?

In his interview with KKFN today Floyd said Jim Brown and John Mackey were both pushing for Floyd to get into the Hall. Mackey even wrote a letter saying something like "if Floyd Little isn't good enough to be in the Hall of Fame, then I'm not good enough either"

At least Floyd has some Hall of Famers lobbying for him.

The HOF is a joke itself. They can go screw themselves as far as I'm concerned.

Sorry guys.

Let me say something right off the top.

I HATED the Cleveland Browns of the 1960s.

Back then, most AFL fans also had a team they followed in the NFL and I followed the Cards. They were in the "Century" division with the Browns, so the Browns were like the equivalent of the Chiefs or Raiders from my POV.

I threw a party the day Gene Hickerson retired. That SOB was, in my opinion one of the greatest offensive guards I've ever seen. He was fast, furious and had a nonstop motor and he bulldozed a path for three different running backs who are all now in the Hall of Fame: Jim Brown, Leroy Kelly and Bobby Mitchell.

Gene Hickerson, G, Browns 1958-60; 62-73. (Missed '61 season due to military service)

6 time pro-bowler; named to all NFL's decade team for the 1960's, Twice a HOF finalist.

Unquestionably, the best right guard in Browns history, Hickerson was also one of the most durable players for the Browns, playing 15 years. In terms of longevity, he is third on the all-time list. He played in 165 consecutive games from 1962-73.

Fact: Hickerson helped Browns runners rush for 100 yards on 90 occasions during his career. Besides Brown, Mitchell and Kelly, others backs to get over 100 yards behind Hickerson were: Ernie Green, Lew Carpenter, Ron Johnson, Reece Morrison, Bo Scott and Greg Pruitt. Brown went over 100 yards 50 times, while Kelly accomplished the feat 27 times behind Hickerson. Mitchell went over 100 yards on five occasions.

Next to Randy Gradishar (and maybe Rick Upchurch), Floyd Little is my favorite Bronco ever.

But Hickerson deserves to go in first.

And Charlie Sanders was no slouch either.

We chop knees and cheat the cap. Or so they say.

They always "seriously consider" a worthy player only to deny them. I'm starting to think it's all pretense and lip service.

This is an outrage and we should actually publically protest to expose this ridiculous bias. Atwater, Mecklenberg, Rulon, Dennis Smith, and Little, deserve to be in the Hall.

Oh for cryin out loud people.

Act like you've been there. I mean, Christ, you'd think you people would wake up and realize the Hall is not about deserving players for the most part, its about media favorites and since the media world centers around New York, what the hell do you expect?

Dallas is far less represented in the Hall of Fame than they should be too and they have more championships than us.

I mean, jesus, every damn time we get a guy snubbed, you people act "shocked". Get used to it. Its like you expected "this time surely they cant deny [insert former Bronco]!" Well, they can, did and will continue to do so.

Sharpe might not even get in, afterall he is only the second greatest TE in history according to SI which has that pencil dicked Zimmerman on the committee.

That makes 16 Browns, 3 of them offensive linemen from the 1950-60s; 13 Lions; and 1 Bronco, Elway. Even though the Lions played in one playoff game from 1960-1980, a 5-0 loss to the Cowboys in 1970.

It's bullshat....pure and simple.

Another year of passing over The Franchise just means another year I won't be visiting that overrated dump. Honestly, the Ring Of Fame means more to me than that place ever will.
