View Full Version : So, what if we brought back Lelie in FA next season?

How would you feel? Not saying we would need to. . . but it seems like the Falcons have no desire to extend his contract.

Let him walk back to Denver, after gaining some valuable ammo from him?

Hilarious!

It will never happen.

A year from now it would be too hard for him to make the #3WR spot on our team.

Haha, yeah I know TJ -- but most of us didn't think Ian Gold was comin' back either.

Nice call. I think we are set at WR. Atleast, I hope so.

Gold just followed the money. Lelie committed the cardinal sin--he didn't honor his contract and refused to compete. He's done in Denver.

Even if Rod retired, Marshall or Watts or Kircus, will be 2, so if he comes back he will need to be willing to be 3 here.

I've got to hand it to you... You DO have a point. Ian left the organization talking all kinds of junk about the Broncos, and we were still willing to bend over backwards to overpay him the next year.

Ian also left coming off of surgery. Once he showed it wasn't an issue in Tampa then Denver was willing to overpay him...

Ashley? I think Shanahan said exactly what he thought of him. You have to be willing to compete. If you won't, guys like that don't get you a Championship.

I want him back here just about as bad as the Eagels want T.O. back

If he doesn't put together a good season, he could be coming back to Denver - to play for the Crush.

After his 20 catches, 500 yards, and 0 TDs, he will come at a very nice price.

Not only that, but he is going to get a hell of a lot more practice blocking in a similar run blocking scheme.

Then he could be a 3rd WR and a 3rd DB.

I think Lelie will do great in Atlanta and sign a nice extention with them.

No matter what you might think of him he is going to be a good NFL reciever. Just like Quiterson is.

I would welcome him back. I don't agree with how he handled this situation, but I can't really comment on it, since I am not in his shoes. I still think he can be one hell of a receiver in the right offense - Cutler + Lelie!!!!

i would have no problem with lelie coming back. he has always been a good bronco until this and if denver offered him a mulyi year contract that lelie felt comfortable with i would be all for it. He is one of the best deep threats in the nfl.

First we need to see whether Quitterson is available. And don't forget O'Neal. You can never have too many WRs. And Gardener could be healed up by then he if isn't in prison.

We'd all drive down to the main offices and kick some azzzzzz! "Uh, Sundy, there appears to be a OM mob outside burning and violating your car."

What are the odds of the sun and moon switching orbits?

How do you know it was Atlanta that insisted on the one year deal and not Lelie's agent? Lelie isnt likely interested in a long term deal at fire sale bargain basement prices under these circumstances when he can begin to rebuild his rep and let the Falcons see what they've got compared to what they have and then sign for a big payday!

Id be willing to bet they will be more than interested in locking him up before Feburary.

One thing is for sure they have one of the best, if not THE best, #3 WR in the league.

I could see it happening...and Shanny handing over an $8 million bonus

jeez, Ashley could drop the game winning touchdown in the super bowl and you would find someone else to blame..."the QB hit him perfectly in the hands, how was he suppose to catch it"......Great thing to be as a 1st round WR, the best #3 WR in the league. Me, I would rather take Mike Williams as a #3 then him.

Yes if he will accept being the sixth receiver with primary duties as kick returner and waterboy.

But you forget, "it's Shanahan and Plummer's fault" that Ashley wasn't a #1 WR.ROFL!

That is a good point, but I don't think Ashley has been one of Shanny's favored sons like Ian is. Shanny generally is very vindictive and has a long memory about these types of things....except if he has a raging hard on for the player and is a complete homer for him, in which case he just shoves problematic facts aside. I don't think Ash one was one of those types of personal favorites of his, unlike Ian.

Coyer seems to be the one who loves Ian. To all our detriment.

Cutler seems to have the arm to match Lelie's legs. Lelie had to see this. There was obviously other stuff going on behind the scenes. Denver had lost faith in him, imho, and Lelie knew it. That would explain 'settling' for being ATL's #3.

only if he wants to be beat up by the entire team. there is no way you can quit and walk out on a team and just come back. like last years K.C. game, Ian Gold flipping off Quitterson, that was awsome
