Just curios. What do people think about two new technologies that are on the verge of entering the market.

1. A device that could be implanted or worn as a "watch" that continually Monitors medical data such as blood pressure, cholesterol level, blood sugar, liver functionality, etc. ( most of the things you are tested for in a regular physical.) The data can be downloaded to you computer for analysis and transmitted to your doctor’s office so that he can prescribe the proper medications.

2. Your local grocery store has collected information about your purchase habits and concludes you regularly purchase Kellogs’s Corn Flakes. As you enter the store you receive a cell phone “coupon” for Post Corn Flakes (or whatever they call them).

Is this progress or Big Brother?

that grocery store one is crazy and would likely be a nuissance. plus i think it would ruin the purpose of a coupon which is to get the consumer in teh door to buy other products but theyre already there so why annoy them although id assume u could turn the alerts off

the medical advancesa are great tho. you shouldnt have to go to the doctor if you are obviously in need of some sort of prescription, esp. with a known condition. they should have bracelets or chips in the skin which inform ER doctors of medical and personal background too. honestly, somebody invent that, just like with pets they have chips to find lost pets. you just scan it and it gives u a code, pop the code into the computer and you know where the dog belongs. youre telling me they cant do that for people. one in the wrist, one in the leg, and maybe one in the back or something in case of missing limbs haha.

There are actually a couple of companies that have developed ways to track medical history and medication history. Everytime I go to a different doctor, I have to recount all of my medical history from memory. It really is difficult to remember 50 years of medical history. If I were taken to an emergency room for something serious, the doctors would have no medical history. The problem these compnies are facing are the privacy issues.
