hurts then a little on special teams thats it.More than a little. He was their kickoff returner with Turner as his backup. They can't use Turner now with Sproles out because he backs up LT.
He also was the Punt returner sharing duties with Parker.

SAN DIEGO (AP) -Chargers kick returner Darren Sproles will be out for the season with a broken left leg and the team revealed Tuesday that wide receiver Vincent Jackson has been hospitalized since Saturday night with a bruised chest.
Coach Marty Schottenheimer wouldn't expand on Jackson's condition. Jackson was injured in Saturday night's exhibition win over the Green Bay Packers.
"He is still in the hospital but everything seems to be going smoothly and he should be out of the hospital no later than tomorrow," Schottenheimer said. "He has some type of compression injury to his chest, but they expect him to be back and not be any long-term consequence.
Sproles was placed on injured reserve on Tuesday, a day after having surgery on his fractured fibula.
"That's not good news, but that's the way it goes," general manager A.J. Smith said.
"The time frame was too much, three to four months. When you look at it, it just doesn't make sense right now to bring him back. He should have a full recover."
Smith said the Chargers would try to replace Sproles from within first before seeking outside help.
Jackson, who caught three passes for 59 yards as a rookie last year, is being penciled in as the No. 3 receiver behind Keenan McCardell and Eric Parker. Neither McCardell (hamstring) nor Parker (thumb) practiced Tuesday, leaving the Chargers thin at wideout.

Your not going to see owners cut back the exebition season unless they go 18 games. They make too much free money charging full price early. I'm not really in favor of 18 games either. With all the OTA's now it's not the same deal. Make the OTA's mandatory and cut the preseson to two games. The Broncos have been working out since April or something. Everyone went but Lilly. Give them a small bone too for the rooks. There is no reason to have 4 or even 5 preseason games. Do you think we would lose to the Lions in the regular season? Mend that, we lost to Oakland...Why did What's his name say the whole west swept them. We lost at home to Oakland in a turdstorm.
When we lay an egg, we lay a big one. Miami, Oakland, Pittsburg. The Giants game was just a theft.
Didn't he play for Iowa? Not sure. There is starting to be a groundswell about preseason games. They don't even call them such, referring to them as exebitions.

AJ Smith has already said that he's not bringing in a kick returner so it looks like one of the DBs that was on the bubble may make it in as a DB/KR. Probably a guy named Cletis Gordon. He seems to do a decent job but definitely a step down from Sproles. I suspect Parker may even help out with punt return duties.
Andrew Pinnock, who is the backup FB will probably work as the third string RB in Sproles' place, since he played RB in college and is built like a power running back.

Have you seen Gordon return any kicks? Seems to me that Sproles is going to be hard to replace.

Sproles won a lot of games for K-State in college. I'm just joking with you, BTW...Ha!

I've only seen Gordon return kicks in the Charger-Packers game. He only had two returns: one kick, one punt and did okay. The punt return went for nine yards and the kick return went for twenty-three.
Sproles will be definitely missed. He came so close to taking one to the house on five or six occasions last year. I won't miss his muffed punts though. Always had to hold my breath when he fielded a punt return. ;)
