You read on the other thread that Koren Robinson is now a Viking. (http://www.orangemane.com/BB/showthread.php?t=29911)
Well, yeah, he is. But a very drunk Viking at that.
The Vikings had been given the night off from camp but were expected to be back by 11 p.m. Robinson didn't quite make it.
Vikings starting receiver Koren Robinson was arrested late Tuesday night on his way back to training camp in Mankato, Minn., on suspicion of drunken driving, according to police.
St. Peter, Minn., police Sgt. Loren Jansen said Robinson was arrested at 10:46 p.m., for "driving while impaired." He is being held at Nicollet County Jail in St. Peter, Jansen said.

Update: You might also recall my other thread about Kornheiser and the MNF crew. Well, they had been praising Koren Robinson and his glorious return to the NFL, drug-free. Heeheehee.

This could open up a trade for Lelie...
We might be able to swing a deal for Darrion Scott, DT (58 tackles, 4 sacks). He is their 2nd string, pass situation DT. We could even try to package one of our reserve LB since they lost Greenway for the season to sweeten the pot.

Was he suspended before for it by the league? The Viks are pretty high on him, so I doubt they suspend him and he just got a new contract. He'll get a fine and he'll play. I do remember a sideline report on Monday about how he's learned from the first DUI and how he could of killed somebody or even himself. Koren, get some help buddy!

Yep, the NFL will suspend him for a year (he's already had the alloted chances), the idiot eluded the cops for over 12 miles.

It's kind of sad and stupid at the same time. Just the other night on MNF Robinson and ESPN were talking about how he is totally clean now and feels like he has a new lease on life. Over the offseason he went back into rehab voluntarily and now in less than 2 days this happens.

The thing I'd want to know is what was his breathlizer reading? He could of just of had just a few. I know that's no excuse, but it's not a DWI.

There's no such thing as "just a few" for an alcoholic. Felony eluding is enough for the NFL. He's still in jail BTW.

The announcers were talking him up because he went back to the rehab center for some support but he didn't have a problem, or it was in remission. Obviously, he's still struggling. He will be gone a year now, he's allready been out 4 weeks. After he redos rehab he might just get another 4 weeks. His trial will take time and then he will have to go thru rehab again so even if they let him back it will be at least midseason. He might do a little time to boot.
Ashlie Lelie...C'mon down to the Love Boat. Childress seems like a pretty sharp tack compared to the Meathead. Robinson is most likely gone for the year. Those crazy Vikings with their grog and raping and pillaging....Most people don't know the "Normans" was a term for the Vikings that periodically looted Paris by rowing up the river. Some things never change. Then they went to England. Edward the Great was a Viking, a "Norman" which actually means "Norseman". There is a bit of evidence there was an outpost of Norsemen in Minnesota. They probably were not greeted too well by the Sioux. They were rather mean to outsiders...look up the Spirit Lake Massacre. There actually are some Norse artifacts in Minnesota but I'm not an expert. Mankato is only an hour away from me. Nice college town.
I had said Lelie would make a good fit in HornHead land before this even happened. Robinson was their #1 so this should be a custom fit. Lilly has to be around 300K in fines by now. It's almost comical.

I like your thinking, except I don't think *we* need to sweeten the pot. I think they do. Plus, do they have enough under the cap to trade for Lelie? Seems to me they've been big spenders.

Salisbury on ESPN just showed some clips of Lelie saying it was a good match for the Vikings and not to be suprised if Lelie winds up a Viking now that Robinson is likely toast for a long while.

I said Lelie would be a good fit there before this happened. Lilly in a dome could do some damage with Williamson. Problem is they are very similar...slight and lean.
Still, Lelie could very well step into the #1 there and would be able to use his speed on the concrete carpet. They have lost Moss and Burleson now Robinson. All they have is the still green Williamson. It's way too obvious so it won't happen.

I see no reason to keep fining Lelie. The vikings are a team that needs a starter for sure. All they have is a second year reach in Williamson. This is by far the best opportunity for both the Broncos and vikings. The metrodome has lightning fast turf, the old kind. It would fit Lelie just fine as long as he likes rug burns. He also gets to go against a pathetic division.

Why is it the best for us? Are they going to give us Kevin Williams or something?

I say we ask for their second-rounder in 2007 and settle for their third.

No, vikings only party on a boat with whores. I wonder if he was drinking Coors and Pete needs a pitch man/drinking and driving buddy?

I'd consider either Udeze or Erasmus James. Doubt they'd trade either of them as they're both young and recent 1st round picks. But, BC is an offensive minded coach so who knows. Still don't know if it would be worth it, but worth considering none the less.

This is from the Rocky Mountain News:
MANKATO, Minn. — The Minnesota Vikings’ long-term investment in receiver Koren Robinson seemed shaky Wednesday after a DWI arrest that might cost the team one of its top offensive players.
Robinson’s blue BMW sedan was caught on radar going more than 100 mph in a 55 mph zone at 10:45 p.m., and he refused to stop, St. Peter police chief Matt Peters said Wednesday. Robinson was arrested by police about 10 miles away in Mankato, where the Vikings hold their training camp.
On Wednesday, Robinson, who made the Pro Bowl last season after alcohol problems derailed his career in Seattle, was charged in Nicollet County with fleeing from police, a felony, along with two DWI charges and three other misdemeanors. A criminal complaint said a field test measured Robinson’s blood-alcohol content at 0.11 percent.
He appeared at a brief court hearing wearing an orange jail jumpsuit and chained at the ankles. Robinson, who posted bail of $50,000, smiled at reporters but didn’t respond to questions as he left the courthouse with his wife, Joy, and a friend. His next court appearance is Oct. 17.
His attorney, Joe Tamburino, said Robinson was looking forward to being back with the Vikings as soon as possible.
"Mr. Robinson is a fine individual," Tamburino said. "He takes these matters very seriously."
His agent, Alvin Keels, didn’t respond to messages for comment.

The Viks won't trade away any of thier future (Udeze, James, or even Pollard for that matter).
I think Darrion Scott would be ideal. He is a great pass rushing DT and is only a situational player with the Viks, meaning he is expendable. Our biggest need is DL and Scott is the best fit for a trade.
Also, Mock: the Metrodome was upgraded to the new kind of turf (with the rubber that flies up) 2 seasons ago.
