Erik Kuselias was sitting in on the Mike & Mike show Friday morning, and he went through all 32 teams in the AFC and NFC, and here's who he thought could make it to the Super Bowl (in no specific order):

AFC - New England, Cincy, Pittsburgh, Jacksonville, Indy, San Diego and Denver (the reasoning for the Broncos was they were coming off a 13-3 season, Jake finally won a playoff game, Shanny will find someone who can effectively run the ball, and their defense is solid)

NFC - Dallas, Washington, Chicago, Atlanta, Tampa Bay, Carolina, and Seattle

For Kansas City he jocked LJ, but called their offensive line old, and he busted on their shaky defense..

FYI - Kuselias is much better on his regular show on ESPN radio (Sportsbash from 4-7pm), if you haven't listened to him you should give him a shot.. my favorite is his classic sign off of: "put on some Barry White tonight, and if you don't get any, it's not his fault".

I've never heard anyone bring up how tall he is more frequently than Eric Kuselias.

Predicting 14 teams with a shot for the Super Bowl really seems to be a guy who's covering his ass quite a bit. That's more teams than even qualify for the playoffs.

Oh. He thinks we have the same defense as we had last year. Honest mistake on his part.

Good one, Cledus or Earl.

no but you have to take some merit in its performance last year or else the lions would have a great receivers corps and we would all be super bowl bound

Anyone who thinks the Chiefs defense will be better simply because is nothing more than a homer at this point. The Chiefs defense is not entitled to the benefit of the doubt because it has sucked for so long.

You said the same things after Surtain, Bell, and Knight. How'd that turn out?

Pretty good. We improved from 29th in scoring defense to 16th in scoring defense.

I'm thinking top 10 this year.

and yet you were talking Super Bowl last year. So it seems that your "objective" view of the situation was a little too rosy, don't ya think?

I would imagine that 'ol Erik follows the NFL like most hosts at ESPN, meaning, he looks at it for about 5 minutes before going on air.

Essentially he just regurgitated the playoff teams from last season with 1 or 2 twists. Anyone who is a knowledgable fan of the NFL knows the turnover form year to year is much greater than that.

He also does the NFL show on Sunday's and is on air for @6hr. I respect his opinion on the NFL which he admittedly get an erection for. Please provide us with some of your infinite knowledge rage.. if we are worthy!

Also, naming 14 teams isn't that much of a stretch, the question was "can make the super bowl" no "will make the super bowl". With a few breaks there are probably even more teams who you could consider. Look at some teams within the past decade who went to the Super Bowl (St. Louis, Baltimore, Atlanta, Carolina, etc..). The fact he didn't jump on the Miami, Kansas City, Baltimore, and Philly bandwagons like a lot of other analyst are means something.

I have to agree with the losing the benefit of the doubt. I think the defense could end up being pretty good but until it proves it on the field I will continue to believe it to be nothing more than liability it has been for many years. I think DE's will be good, LB'ers and secondary but our DT's are woeful and until that changes teams will probably continue to run it down our throats. Throw in the fact that the offense won't score near as many points this year with Herm Average at the helm thus that will allow our opponents much more opportunity continue to run it.
