Around the league...

Been watching bits and pieces of a few different games. Here's what sticks out. Mainly some rookie news and a little bit on 2nd year players.

First, Reggie Bush is fast even for the NFL. He's a special player. Too bad he's stuck in NOLA!

Second, Lundy (RB out of UVA) is running very well for Kubes. Nothing new considering he's been accustomed to running all over the Chefs for years! It's weird watching the Texans now. Bootlegs and lots of use of the TE's... seems very familiar! Mario Williams hasn't done much, but last year's #1 Travis Johnson has looked pretty good... as has 2006 #2 pick Demeco Ryans. I think I remember a few people talking about Owen Daniels (TE out of Wisconsin I think), he's looked pretty good as well.

Third, Chad Owens just had a helluva series. A catch for 24 yards followed up by a 64 yard TD catch. Only 4 yards on one punt return. I know we're set at WR right now, but he sure would have a spot on our team as a returner. Not to mention he would have made more sense than MoC.

Back to the Texans/Cheaps game real quick. Larry Johnson didn't look spectacular. Decent, but nothing that really stood out. The OL did okay, but again nothing special. Not your Chokes of yesterday, atleast not along the OL. Herm Edwards did mention something about going to a power running game and wanting to smash people in the mouth. Seems like there was an arguement between us and the chokes about that recently.

Looking at some of the other guys around the league...

DeAngelo Williams has 21 yards on 8 carries. 20 yards came on one of those carries.

Vince Young hasn't done much. Couple runs for about 15 yards and 1/4 for 14 yards passing.

Leonard Pope had 1 catch for 4 yards today. Marcedes Lewis hasn't caught a ball yet. Vernon Davis doesn't appear in the box score for yesterday's game. Klop was 1 for 11 yards. Byrd didn't appear in the box score. Owen Daniels has 3 catches for 25 yards or so, so far. He's the closest to matching Scheff's great game from last night. Obviously it way to early to tell, but it seems that we found a TE that is very suited to our needs in the passing game.

If anybody else notices anything from some of the younger guys around the league post it here.

Most impressive of the day to this point for me. Wali Lundy for the Texans. He has 7 carries for 58 yards and a TD. Long of 25 yards. I think he's probably burried on the depth chart (Davis, Morrency, A.Smith) but he's making a case for himself!

Looks like Maurice Drew just caught a pass and turned it into a 55 yard TD. Seems like Shanny was high on him at one point.

Phillip Rivers looked sharp on his first series and hit Vincent Jackson for a TD.

EDIT: TD about to be overturned by replay.

That connection has the potential to be VERY GOOD. Sucks for us.

I had the Panthers vs Bills over here. Deangelo Williams was ok, Maroney looked better last night. Delhomme, Keyshawn and the Panthers 1st string(minus Steve Smith) looked real sharp. He was slinging the ball all over the place and threw a nice TD to Drew Carter.

Losman looked a lot better than Holcomb, but a lot of that had to do with the Panthers starting D was very good and Holcomb didn't play that much while Losman played 90% of the game. Would have to see the roles reversed to get a better judge at Buff's QBs.
